Nice video, always nice to learn new stuff! My top 9 features i miss from Bitwig for DJ-ing are: 1. Add Clip-Playback-Progress visible on the Track Level! (As optional setting) It's almost a joke that in a big Liveset of Bitwig you won't be able to keep track of the playback progress of all Clips, because Playback Progress is only visible within the Clip. Don't get me wrong: It's awesome to have it within the clip, this is something i always missed from Ableton. But in exchange not seeing it on the Track Level is beyond any common sense. Also, the Clip-Playback-Progress Bar in Clips should have the option to be FATTER for better visibility [!!!] 2. The colorization of the A, AB, and B Settings for the Crossfader Section: every button is ORANGE, haha! That's quite ... unfortunate... to say the least. Almost zero chance to keep track of the settings when performing live, when everything is colored the same. 3. Bitwig could improve BPM Detection, automatic warping, and onset-transient-detection a LOT. It's not bad, but it's also not top notch at all, compared to Traktor, etc. 4. Being able to midi-assign "Select Device". Often times, when i used FX knobs in Ableton when live performing, i not only assigned the specific parameter to the knob, but also the "select device" function (midi assigning the device-title in Ableton), which automatically makes Ableton focus and show the device i'm currently working with! Really good for working with Filter curves, etc, where it's helpful to see what you're doing visually! 5. Being able to midi-assign "Select Scene". So instead of "Launch scene" i'd love to be able to select certain scenes. Helpful to jump to certain parts of the liveset via midi assignment. 6. Being able to use Follow actions for scenes without the need of a “dummy clip”. 7. Improved Midi scripts. Neither Bitwigs scripts nor drivenbymoss Generic Flexi are usable for a big controller setup, where there are more than 8 knobs/buttons/faders which need bi-directional feedback (so when something is moved in Bitwig, it shows on the controller). 8. Get rid of the medieval “only 8 parameters per bank allowed” Scheme. With a big controller, it would be possible to control more than 8 Project Remotes with ease, without having to fiddle around with banks. (Especially talking about the OSC script here, which is limited by Bitwigs API restrictions). 9. Option to increase scene-size horizontally in MIX view to see full Tracknames. (not wanting to work via project panel)

really cool - man i dont think my arrangements will be that easy to setup haha. i rarely stick to 4/4 arrangements and they are usually all over the place :D I think i need to mess around with this tonight. Have you had any external controllers?

This seriously just brought everything into focus for me pertaining to how I'm going to get from the studio to the stage in a live performance setting. From here I'm sure I can use bitwig to trigger video, lighting, etc. ? If any of you here have experience with that in linux, I'd be particularly interested in what you're using. Thank You, this video is invaluable.

I'm not sure about Linux but TouchDesigner is amazing for syncing bitwig to visuals, the latest beta of BW has an extension which can send a bunch of transport and clip information too

great Video, thanks a lot! How would handle Audio Effects in such a set up? Having them on each Deck, using sends or just on Master? Or is there even another method, which I'm not thinking about right now?

depends on the FX style imho, for reverbs/delays i'd use a send, but for filters I'd run them on the channels

@@DashGlitch So you like how it sounds? Fair enough. I would worry about CPU cost, I guess. Anyway, I have a similar EQ soft spot for the Sweetone by Sonimus.)) Hell yea Sweetone! Try it. :)

@@youlemur It's less that I like "how it sounds" and more that it doesn't have a sound, and thus why I use it for this application, because I don't want to colour the already mixed/mastered material. I will check that recommendation out for production/mixing for sure tho, thanks!

Just play music other than something you made, then it's technically a DJ set. Or do you need record players to do that? even though no music is released on vinyl or any type of physical media anymore :P

@@DashGlitch Well automatic, pre-aligning etc etc is not in my world djing especially if it is other peoples music BUT still this is awesome and it has a purpose so thank you for this one

@@spiritualtheory4042 you can just play the track as a single wave file without the preparation if you'd like, but I know most DJs do use a lot of pre-decided loops/cuepoints :)

@@spiritualtheory4042 "not in my world djing especially if it is other peoples music" - What do you mean? 99% of DJs don't make any music. DJing is about playing music, not composing it.
