ABOUT:🔻
Norman Jeffrey Healey (March 25, 1966 - March 2, 2008)[1] was a Canadian blues, rock and jazz singer, guitarist, and songwriter who attained popularity in the 1980s and 1990s. He reached No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart with "Angel Eyes" and reached the Top 10 in Canada with the songs "I Think I Love You Too Much" and "How Long Can a Man Be Strong".
CREDITS:🔻
• Jeff Healey - 'See The...
One of our all-time favourite clips of the early days, Jeff Healey in 1988 on the Jools Holland/David Sanborn hosted, 'Night Music'. Dr. John on piano, Marcus Miller on bass, Omar Hakim on drums... quite possibly one of the hottest bands ever assembled! This clip screams pure joy. It's a blast watching Marcus lose it as Jeff takes it to another level. Dig! ~Rog

See the Light
The Jeff Healey Band
Can you see the light,
Can you see the light of need shinin' in my eye?
Can you see the light,
Can you see the light of need shinin' in my eye?
Well, you know I need you baby,
And I sure ain't gonna tell you no lie
Can you see the light,
Can you see the light of want shinin' on my face?
Can you see the light,
Can you see the light of want shinin' on my face? hey
Well, you know I want you, mama,
Come on, we'll get from this place, now
Look out!, yeah!
Can you see the light,
Can you see the light of love shinin' from my heart?
Can you see the light,
Can you see the light of love shinin' from my heart?
Yeah
Well, you know I love you, baby,
An' I sure want to give this thing a start, Lord!
Can you see the light?
Can you see the light?
Can you see the light?, say!
Can you see the light, yeah?

Jeff was from my hometown. Saw him live many times over the years and met him once. He never failed to mesmerize. I feel he was the most underrated guitar player ever as he should have been much bigger than he was. A shame he was never a household name like the other guitar greats. R.I.P. Jeff, you are missed! By the way, love your shirt dad! Geddy, Alex and Neil rule!

I seen Jeff Healey band, Glasgow Barrowlands, April '93. Every solo Jeff done, jumping up and down, he would feel for the edge of the stage, with his right foot...and have have 3 big security dudes, front of stage, following him, left & right, ready to catch him. Still one of my best live gigs 🎸🤘

I was fortunate enough to have discovered him when he was still playing clubs. I think he was 19 or 20 the first time I met him. He was selling See The Light as a 7 Inch independent single at his shows. It was such a treat to see him play live and he always took the time to stop and chat. It was really heartbreaking getting the news that he was no longer with us 😞

Great, GREAT reaction you two! Yes, Jeff is completely blind, and was so since he was 1 year old (a rare cancer had taken his sight - and it was that same cancer, I believe, that returned and took his life when he was only 41) He's from Toronto, about an hour from where I live. This man, and his band(s) (in any incarnation) were the real deal!! They would bring the house down live. My wife and I were fortunate to see him about 25 years ago - he did a cover of Sunshine Of Your Love by Cream that even put this performance to shame! Insanely talented soul, taken WAY too soon!! RIP Jeff.

I noticed, that at time of viewing your reaction video, you had only 18.5 k subscribers: however, I have seen a lot of reactions to this particular video, however you are the first 'Reactors' to acknowledge Dr. John, Omar Hakim and George 'Jools' Holland, prior to playing the video; in addition, whilst playing through, and after playing the video, I have heard other 'Reactors' (some of them with +200K subscriptions) wo have failed to acknowledge or recognize the guest musicians. I therefore have 'All' subscribed and liked your video's presentation, so that I can follow all your reactions current and future reactions. It is rare to find a reactor who is so knowledgeable, about about the singer/composer/band, etc.

No, completely blind, in fact his eyes were surgically removed when he was very young. Jeff never saw anyone play the guitar so had no idea how it was _supposed_ to be done. He battled cancer his whole life and that is what eventually did him in at the far too young an age of 41. A legend in Canada, but not well known (except by musicians) out side of the Country. Mind boggling talent. A very accomplished jazz trumpet player as well.

Well, I'm just down the street whre Jeff used to play many set before he caught on within the mainstream music theater here in Vancouver, (B.C). In the late 80's early 90's after his big hit in "Road House" with Parick Swazy (I'm sure i'm misspelling it) "Angle Eyes" was his big screen hit but was more known within the blues community for much more. You might want to react to a little tune he did called "As the Years Go Passing By" It's one of his most viewed songs live, one of most revered songs he's done ever IMO. On a side note to the "Dad", thanks for introducing and keeping this music living within the youth of todays music reactions. I fear the tread has lead the masses to what's hot views for little to no response and fear the worst. so good on you 👍

He was signed to the record label my father worked for at the time, he was definitely blind. I believe he had cancer of the eyes as a baby (happy to be corrected if i have that wrong) and whilst he got past it, i think it took his life 35-40 years later. Completely self taught, i remember back in the day hearing that he had amassed a personal collection of 5000 vinyl LPs, all kinds of musical styles and that he devoured and learnt from everything he could listen to. By all accounts a really nice guy too. Most people from the 80s remember the Patrick Swayze action film Roadhouse where Jeff’s band has an evening spot in a bar, that movie helped to launch his musical career.

Jeff was great. Jef plays in the film Road House Blouse with Patrik Svazi and Sam Elliot. I have to correct you. You say Jef came from Canada or America. Don't you know that Canada is America?? You should say that Jef came from Canada or from the USA. Both Canada and the United States are located in North America along with Mexico. So it is very wrong to call the United States, America. Many in the United States call the United States America, but that is because the population in the United States is one of the most uninformed and stupid people in the world regarding the population on earth outside the United States. So for God's sake don't compound their ignorance by calling the US America. There are many countries in America and the population of the United States is only a fraction of the population of America. Jef was from Canada.
