Jeff Healy was a Canadian blues rocker. He played the guitar like that because it was easier for him to learn that way as he was blind. He was a treasure in the blues rock genre. 😊 and hes played with other great blues rockers such as stevie ray vaughn and Dr. John.. Who plays piano in this video.

I got to see him play on New Years Eve outdoors at Niagara Falls at the bottom of Clifton Hills looking at the falls. It was snowing and thousands of people were just having a blast. One of my favorite NYE in my lifetime

This is Blues. Jeff Healey is Canadian and he lost his sight to cancer at the age of one. His father gave him a guitar when he was three. Because he was so little it was easier to play it on his lap. He also plays the trumpet. Unfortunately Jeff passed when he was in his early 40's from cancer. Cheers

Saw the Jeff Healy Band open for ZZ Top back in the day in San Francisco He stood most of the show with the bassist shadowing him and bumping him back to the mic and away from the edge of the stage Great show.

I'm very happy to say, I saw Jeff and the band live, at red rocks, in Colorado.. I also saw Stevie Ray there with bb king and taj mahal.. met Stevie and band that morning, saw Stevie 3 times, including a jam with Jeff Beck, saw 400 other artists, over the years..David Bowie, The Who, Pink Floyd, Robert Plant, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Ice T, Ice Cube, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Minstry, Parliament, Funkadelic, Ozzy Osborne, Metallica... oh and a guy named Michael Jackson... headlining with the Jackson Brothers.. I can be your music guru..

I saw Jeff Healey live a few years ago. The most incredible thing I have ever seen. The whole audience, from young lads to old(er) men like myself, were absolutely slack-jawed at what we saw and heard. I feel privileged that I was able to see him live. Forget the rest, this guy was/is the greatest guitarist ever.

I saw Jeff unexpectedly in the 80s. Some friends were in a band and played an open mic at some bar on Yonge St in Toronto. There were several acts including Jeff Healey. We had never known who he was until he started playing. Our jaws were on the floor the entire set. What a freaking talent. He lost his eyes to retinoblastoma when he was an infant. He was given up for adoption and his father gave him a guitar when he was very young. Later he went to Humber College but they couldn't or wouldn't teach him to play guitar the way he learned so he left the program. Some people called him underrated but his contemporaries knew ALL about Jeff. He was considered among the greatest blues guitarists. He appeared in the movie Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze. Sadly they both passed due to cancer within 18 months of one another. RIP Jeff and Patrick.

I saw Jeff Healy back in the 80s in a club in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. (The Misty Moon) Jeff walked off the stage, the crowd body surfed him back onto the stage( didnt miss a cord)! RIP Jeff Healy

I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction to this unquestionably unique musician. 🤗 I personally had the incredible fortune to experience him performing live, up close, over several nights near the start of his legendary career, and I'd never even heard of him an hour before he touched the guitar on that memorable first evening! Mid/late '80s, Victoria BC, early evening on a warm summer Thursday: Me and some of the boys headed out to a local meat market / pick up bar that usually had a DJ. (🤭 Hey, I was young, well, late 20s, and there would likely be pretty girls there! 😂). When we arrived, we were perplexed to discover there was a lineup to get in, with posters advertising a live performer (not usual) debuting that night, with praises by the likes of B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. So, what the hell, we waited in line. Once we got in we sat at a table right by the dance floor, about 15 feet from a two foot raised stage. After ordering our beer, the band came out, obviously guiding a blind guy. My buddies and I kinda looked at each other quizzically. 🤔 They sat him down in a chair onstage, handed him an electric guitar, which he placed on his lap 😯 ... then, when they started to play ... my world changed ... forever. It was Jeff Healey and his band, before their first album came out: I had never heard of him/them before, but he, specifically, had my attention now. He proceeded to play the cleanest, most amazing, unbelievable guitar licks I'd ever heard. He played blues, he played rock, he played country, he even played a bit of what sounded like flamenco. He played Hendrix better than Hendrix, he played with his teeth, he played while literally jumping around blind like a mad man. He seemed to be having a religious experience onstage. Despite it being a dance club, NOBODY danced that night. Every person, patrons and staff alike, stood around, hypnotized, with their mouths agape, staring, hardly believing what they were seeing and hearing. I went back Friday and Saturday, and again three nights the following week, as they were playing a two week gig there. Their first album came out shortly thereafter, and then he was in a movie with Patrick Swayze, and then ... well, I sadly never got to see Jeff Healey perform live again. But I still feel blessed, and I shall never forget how amazing the experience was that first night I saw him play! 😊

Stevie Ray Vaughan said that the only guitarist that could push him to do better was Jeff Healey. They were friends. There is a video of Jeff Healey and Stevie Ray Vaughan playing Little Sister and at one point when Jeff is doing his solo SRV says Wow. Two greats gone too soon.
