In a battle rafale has an advantage because it has better aoi and jammer that can jam su 30 mki ' s radar from a long distance but su 30 mki is also a very strong jet.

You have mixed up su 30 sm and mki.sm has al 41f engine whereas mki has al 31 engine

Rafale has better avionics & electronic warfare than su 30 mki , & a more better arsenal of weapon too , for a multirole operation rafale is an all rounder while for a air defence or air attack role su 30 mki is very capable

why India bought rafale despite having the SU30 MKI, quite simply for 2 reasons, the SU30 has very unreliable engines, very often broken down and maintenance is hell, the Rafale F3R is very easy to maintain and it is very reliable, the Rafale F4 will have predictive maintenance thanks to artificial intelligence that will prevent breakdowns before they happen! the M88 engines of the Rafale can be maintained in place in the plane, they do not need to be removed for 4 years, for major maintenance! the Rafale's RBE2 AESAE radar does not need maintenance for 10 years! and to change a Rafale engine, with 3 mechanics, it takes less than 90 minutes! on the JAGUAR (ground attack aircraft) getting the engine out was disconcertingly easy, all you had to do was bring a cradle, position it at the back of the JAGUAR, a few hoses to unscrew, a few connectors to unscrew, then , it was enough to slide the engine out of the JAGUAR! maintenance has always been the strong point of French aircraft, reliability and ease! LOL That's a stupid comment! the Rafale beat the F22, which is more powerful than the Rafale, faster than the Rafale and it has vectored thrust that the Rafale does not have! and the Rafale ridiculed the Eurofighter, 18 fights in 2009, 16 victories for the Rafale! it's nice that the SU30 is very maneuverable, it's a big pile of unreliable scrap metal, in your opinion, why India bought Rafales (theoretically less efficient) and yet, if an SU30 or an SU35 encounters a Rafale, they will never know that they have a Rafale in front of them, the Rafale has active stealth, it can reflect the enemy radar wave out of phase!!

@LOLO / VAL Lame ! Rafale is a modern fighter jet while su 30 is having 2 decade old technology. Su 30 is the backbone of IAF. Most of the components of su 30 is made in india for maintenance. Upgradation of Sus to Super Sukhoi will give head to head competition to Rafale.

While they should've started sooner, India does at least have their own indigenous EW Suite and AESA radar to install on the MKI. Unfortunately, they are actually still using the AL-31 engines and won't get the 41s unless Russia can beat sanctions to resume the Super Sukhoi program. Since HAL does manufacture the 31 locally, and the 41 is actually an upgrade of it rather than a new design, I wonder if Russia could meet their engine obligations of the S. Sukhoi program through that mechanism.

$102 million each for SU-30MKI and $200 million each for Rafale. The deal was for technology needed for our own fighter jet, with Rafale we got access to various missiles that couldn't be precured without it and then we have AESA radar too. All will be taken as inspiration for our own development, plus SAFRAN will help in engine development.

Su-30 mki is the backbone of IAF. But Rafale is the lead fighter. India is going to replace Su-30 mki avionics with AESA radar EW suites and its datalink. Rafale will continue to be the asset. I hope IAF orders 114 Rafale F4s soon. The combination of Rafale and Su-30 mki would be a force to be reckoned with.

Su30 can easily destroy overhyped and overpriced Rafale anytime, RafaleF4 with aesa radar got 200km detection range but Su30sm got 400km derection and around 230km lock to enemy , also he got better missile like R37M 400km range, also Rafale with arsa radar just start to produse , also no pne mention Su30sm2 who got Irbis radar from Su35s and new avionics, but Russians never know how to advertise but we see now in Ukraine that Russia have best weapon in the world and who want best he will buy from Russia and it's fact!

so you are wrong about Upgrades when talking about the SU30 MKI , when indian goverment purchased the su30 they purchased it with transfer of technology , Giving India the ability to build their own su 30 named the MKI model (similar to what china did), These jests are to be upgraded by HAL and not Suokhai in future so any of the su 35 upgrades will not come to the MKI varient even tho it is an open platform and can be directly installed into the su30 , But DRDO is indias own aviation R&D which will provide developments to the su30MKI. 60 jets are currently being upgraded to MKI-2 varient which is suppose to upgrade avionics and rader but i could not find the specifics of these upgrades.

Vectored thrust is no grantee that the su-30MKI will beat the Rafale, yes vectored thrust makes a plane very maneuverable but that's no grantee, a Rafale beat a f-22 years ago and typhoons beat f-22 regularly during Red Flag and other training exercises, but the US air force do not confirm or denied these things happening, its like a typhoon pilot says, get close to the f-22 and stay there and the f-22 can't do anything.

Rafale maximum range is not 1850 kilometers, but 3700. 1850 kilometers is only the combat range, which always decrease from the maximum range. Even the su30 combat range is decreasing a lot, specially when the Rafale is able to supercruise, and not the su30. Also Rafale radar is an AESA, su30 radar only a PESA. PESA radars have longer range, but way lesser precision, which mean un BVR, the Rafale will beat the su30, specially with better jammers and jamming systems, the su30 will be difficult to see and lock on the Rafale.

Rafale has a much smaller RCS as compared to SU 30MKI plus meteor is a very dangerous BVR missile SU30MKI doesn't have an equivalent to meteor missile even if it gets a similar missile still its v big RCS of around 5MS make it easy to be detected at long ranges which make it much more vulnerable as compared to Rafale The main advantage of fifth generation fighters is there v v low RCS The future of aerial engagement is a BVR fight hardly 1% chances of dog fight in the coming years when so many long ranges BVR missiles are available but France is selling there Rafale on a v high price which doesn't make sense only those countries are buying Rafale which can not get American F35 for usa do to political or other reasons otherwise Rafale time is already gone or max another 10 yrs but many 3rd world and 2nd world countries still buy Rafale because they are unable to get F35 Luckily Pakistan have there own JF17 block 3 which will be v good in its price because Pakistan can have 3 JF17 block 3 in the same price of one Rafale F3 standard India have purchased and JF17 block 3 also have PL15 to counter meteor but i still think meteor is superior as compared to PL15

First Rafael is easy to upgrade to f4 standard and india will upgrade it.second u thinks Rafael time is over shows ur education and knowledge about technology of jets Rafael is one of the most advance jet available today.third beggar pakistan does not develop jf17 ,it's a russia rejected design which was purchased by china later to develop it for poor pakistan.china made and develop jf17.pakistan just paint it green and calls it their jet.whereas india Design Tejas on its own and is 70 percent indigenous,engine is American and ejection seat is made england but that also india is trying to build it in india near future by its own technology.

Su30MKI formidable WVR fighter. But at present Rafale much better BVR fighter owing to its less RCS and longer ranged Meteor missile considered among the best in its class. Su-30MKI will have Astra Mk2 within the next 3 years - same range and performance as PL15E. But Meteor is much better missile than either PL15E or Astra Mk2 in performance and range.

@@sanjay59741 When a real engagement between rafale and J10C of paf will happens only then it will be clear meteor is better or PL15E is better because only missile will not decide the pilot expertness his training and which fighter fire the missile first against the other fighter all these factors will decide SU30MKI RCS is too big around 5m2 so it has no chance against J10C or even JF17 block 3 because both these fighters have a very small RCS J10C RCS is also around 1m2 similar to Rafale
