Thank you. Yep salary starts at a reasonable level for entry level and can start to grow sharply once you nail the basics (within 3 to 6 years)

Great video, I would love to see more mental frameworks for problem-solving, communicating and project management in data science.

Thanks Luis. I agree that is important for deciding where to begin in a data analysis project. It's on the list. In the meantime please search for the Crafting Cases youtube channel. They have some good resources on problem structuring.

Data Analyst's job is to turn the negative in to positive and find why and where is the negative and can be turned in to a positive outcome.

@@datalaunchpad8974 Question for you. What are your thoughts on the recent updates to sqlite? The new math functions are so cool!
@datalaunchpad89743 жыл бұрын
Hi John, I use mySQL and Teradata SQL rather than SQLite so I can't comment on those specifically. My only comment (taking liberty to read into your question a bit here) is that typically I don't worry too much about the minutiae of various tools. I often feel pressure to learn the tools inside out (e.g. SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI, Excel, Alteryx...the list goes on). And it makes sense because they are a more achievable and concrete concepts compared to analytical and soft skills (potentially the same reason so many people set marathon goals even though they really would rather get promoted?). However from experience I have learned that rarely do jobs require mastery of all these tools from the outset. I always recommend to learn the fundamental concepts of the most important tools, and only develop mastery insofar as it is needed on the job. (like 20% of the detail for 80% of the effort). Better to spend time honing analytical ability and stats. But that's my experience.

@@datalaunchpad8974 I totally agree. These tools are a means to an end and the analytical skills you're teaching are needed to utilize the tools correctly. And that's what I'm here to learn! To provide more context to my question, sqlite did not have the same "advanced" math functions (sqrt, pow, etc) as mysql until a recent update. Previously, I have used VB or Python to get around these limitations but it's just nice to have them implemented now in sqlite.

How important do you thing learning things like SQL or python are to the big picture?

As an analyst, I use them daily and wouldn't have the job had I not already known them.
