LOL, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who gets overly excited checking my APP for how I did during the night. YEY!! 100% Score!

I have a Phillips Dream Station APAP machine. It has a built in Cell Phone card so the data is sent to the Respiratory Therapist every morning. If I fail to use it 5 hours a night the insurance company will have me pay for the machine which is $1,800!

That's very interesting Kent. Are you American? Typically compliance is more heavily enforced in the States when it comes to financial reimbursement. Not to say compliance isn't important in Canada, but I don't believe usage has an effect on insurance coverage here. In Ontario, part of the machine's cost is subsidized through our healthcare system. Some physicians may inform our ministry of health if patients are not compliant, but these are typically severe cases where a patient's sleep apnea may put others at risk (particularly on the road). I wish you the best of luck in your therapy. The more you keep at it, the more tolerable it will become. Perhaps to the point where you can't sleep without it!

In the USA, compliance is DIRECTLY tied to many insurers willingness to pay for the rental or purchase of a device. This dynamic is so intertwined that many insurers actually have DIRECT access to the compliance data and bypass the physician and DME supplier entirely.

Using it and getting sleep isn't the same. I wear mine even when watching TV and pain keeps me awake and wakes me up. So often I'll use the mask for 10 hours a day to get 4 hours sleep.

This may be a dumb question. Where does a person get a copy of a compliant report?

Generally, the sleep data is sent to your doctor. However, most current models of CPAP/APAP have a slot for an SD card. If you purchase a card and install it, it will record all the same sleep data that is transmitted to your doctor. You can then remove the card and using a program like OSCAR, you can can view all the details reports on your home PC. The data would include information like your compliance (ie. daily usage)

Excellent video! I am a Heath care fraud investigator looking into a DME provider billing remote patient monitoring for cpap wearers. Does the data get sent to the referring sleep specialist or the DME provider?
@thecpapgentleman94423 жыл бұрын
Could be either one, or both. As with any data collection service, consent forms are usually signed in advance of the monitoring.

The title implied I would learn how to access the data. Didn't need the comedy routine.

Sorry to hear that! What machine are you currently using? Maybe I can help.

How do you print out the data for compliance on a Philips Respironics Dreamstation?
@thecpapgentleman94423 жыл бұрын
We use a platform called Care Orchestrator, but this is generally only available to clinicians. That being said, there is a patient interface called "My Dream Mapper" that you could use to do the same thing.
