You may be familiar with Data Merge using Adobe InDesign (if not, there's a video for that linked below), but what about using Adobe Illustrator??
A little more complicated - in my opinion - but still a great option, and there are definitely some benefits to doing it this way! Let's walk through using Illustrator to data merge envelope addresses together.

Hi! This is so helpful! Thank you :) Do you know if you can do the same glyph change in illustrator that you have done in Indesign? I'm looking to add swashes to the first and last letter of the name. Thanks!

@@meghanblair2271 I’d have to play! My initial thought is it would be feasible if you could get the glyph code in the spreadsheet…but would be tough to do after the merge. One of many reasons I feel InDesign is better equipped for this particular task!

Hi! Thank you for your tutorial. I am trying to create outlines with my text but when I batch it in the action it fails due to no longer being able to change the data set. When you uncheck the box that says "preserve illustrator editing capabilities", do you know if that essentially outlines your text? Google says yes, but I am having a hard time making sure. My printing company requires all text to be outlined in case they do not have access to fonts used. Thanks!

@@CarterWhite-t1b if you save as a pdf they’ll be able to open it without the fonts but it’s technically not the same as outlining. Try this tutorial: Robin Spence-Vanderford this is a good tutorial! www.copperbottomdesign.com/blog/converting-fonts-to-outlines

Man, all they need is an integrated way to print directly. I have made labels with variables but all i want to do is print a range of them on demand. I have no need for files of each. label. I can go one by one on the preview but that becomes very laborious as you start making dozens. is indesign better for this? (no image needed)

@@jeremyspecce yes check out my video on doing it in InDesign! If no image is needed it’s (IMO) about 40 times easier and more intuitive haha
