I’m guilty of a terrible date once. Like really bad. I asked this girl to go out on a date with me. We would go out to eat, go to the movies, classic first date stuff. I was 17. I told her real quick before we went to dinner I needed to swing by the mall to grab my brother a bday present as it was his birthday that day. After the mall I start my car and there is this loud clanking noise from the engine. I tell this woman that my grandfather is good with cars and close by. Just to be safe, we would swing by. Get there. He drives us around a few blocks. No noise. I feel dumb. So he floors it just in case. The pedal gets stuck to the floor. This poor woman in the front seat with me in the back as we are approaching 100mph in this residential area. Thankfully my grandfather just turns the car off and we glide to a stop. It’s mid November and freezing. She’s in this summer dress. I give her my jacket and we walk 6 blocks back to my grandparents house. They lend me their car so I can take her home. She says she’s still hungry so I offer to get Boston market and some movies to try and salvage it. She agrees. I buy the food and we rent like 3 movies. We ate, watched one, and I than left telling her I would call her the next day. We have been married for over 25 years now, with two beautiful children. She told me it was me giving up my jacket that got me a second date and a second shot lol

I got y'all beat. Met a guy online, who lived in my grandmother's town. We chatted for several weeks, mostly just friendly banter. When I planned a trip to visit my grandma, I told him I would be in town and said we should meet up. He suggested an ice cream palour that was popular in the area. Meet him there and immediately realize his pictures don't match what he had posted online. But, since we had friendly conversations, I told myself it wasn't a big deal. We go to order our milkshakes and he stopped me from paying for my own. Then we sit down outside to talk. He proceeds to tell me that freaking ADOLF HITLER wasn't that bad of a guy and that he was just misunderstood. I brushed that off as just being an awkward and horrible joke. Nope, he was serious. Then, in the same breath, he asks me how much longer it will be before I finish my shake, because he really wanted to take me back to his place "to get to know each other better." I told him, sorry I don't do that on a first date. He then proceeded to knock my shake over, spilling it all over the table and me, while yelling at me for leading him on, using him to get a free meal and accusing me of having another date later. I reminded him that I offered to pay for my $4.50 shake, which he insisted on paying for. I got up to walk away, and he jumped up to stop me, grabbing my arm. Unbeknownst to me, there was a table full of teenaged boys sitting behind me, who all jumped in to stop him. I ran to my car and quickly drove off. During the 20 minute drive back to my grandmother's house, he called at least 30 times, leaving messages ranging from apologetic to raging anger and a slew of profanities. I blocked and deleted his number and never spoke to him again. I spent the rest of my trip having a lovely time with my grandmother, aunts and cousins. Yep, I dodged a bullet with that one.

Thankfully my dating days were before MySpace. On our first date, I knew my date (now husband) worked in construction and when he picked me up, it was a beat up xterra and it was plain to see that he took the time out to clean it and vacuum it, but it still had that kind of funky smell that won’t go away, but I noted the effort. We were going to an art show and the poor guy didn’t realize that there was a private event happening that night so when we drive up and realized we couldn’t get in, he looked so defeated. So we went out to eat at a place we were both familiar with, and we just had such amazing conversation. I could tell he was still bummed about the art show because he mentioned wanting to take me somewhere, but he wasn’t sure where. We decided to go to a pool bar and played pool all dressed up and just played and talked for HOURS. It’s been 22 years 🤗

One of the reasons I've never liked "blind dates" or "online dating". Meeting up with someone you barely know or even don't know at all with the clear intention of seeing if you're date compatible always seems to end in disaster. I can't speak from experience, but just what I've seen/heard from other people. I feel meeting someone and developing a friendship THEN, if both of you catch feels for each other and try moving on to the dating portion is a much for comfortable and "natural" way of progressing a relationship. It also gives you insight to who you're meeting up with and there's already a sense of familiarity there. Just my personal opinion on the dating scene tho. If blind dates/online dating works for you, I'm thrilled for you and wish you all the best and hope you stay safe out there ♥

What is sad in these videos is not the hurt feelings of the women, but the fact that in each story none of them left immediately when they felt uncomfortable :when the first rude remark was made, when they were ignored, when their date did something they didn't like, when they felt uncomfortable, or even when they didn't feel safe. Instead they tried to excuse the bad behavior and rationalize. Why does society teaches girls that above their safety, comfort and self respect is the opinion of others, and the most important thing is to not get angry and make a scene, because an angry or rude woman is despicable?

First date with a fellow I met at an improv show (my son's first show with his troupe). He shows up for a "farm date" to ride horses with me (my horses) -- told me he could ride well. We went on a short ride through farm fields, very nice ride, very pretty, along a river. He had brought his dog, which he said ran five miles a day with him on his bike. He couldn't even get on the horse, let alone ride. I put him on a small horse (easy to get on) who was a sweetheart and would give him no trouble. She (the horse) was so pissed at his awful riding she pinned her ears the whole ride -- I'd never seen her do this before. His poor dog must have been laying next to a stationary bike for that "five miles a day." The dog had a heat stroke and DIED about 1/2 mile into the ride!!! I carried that dog (big dog!) to a pool of water as it was expiring, trying to cool it down, and gave it mouth to nose resuscitation three times to bring it back when it stopped breathing. The man was totally useless. When we got back to the farm, my dad (lived next door) handed him a shovel and showed him a place in the garden where he could bury the dog. Date guy was insulted that he was being asked to bury the dog, himself. Once it was buried he came into my house to shower!!! I'm the one covered in death slobbers and mud -- but he wanted to clean up first (while I made sandwiches because he was really hungry) and then (I've washed my hands, obviously, but still wearing muddy clothes) started angling for a pity fuck because "he was sad about his dog dying". I had a guy when I first got to university pull every red flag in the book. Met him on tinder, he was also new to the city but wasn't going to university. Weird when almost everyone between ages 18-24 who move to this city are here for university. He tells me he's doing this hockey exchange thing so he can get scholarships for school next year. He was really cocky about the hockey thing and wanted everyone to know he was this amazing goalie (I watched his tapes, my seven year old cousins play better.) our first date was literally just driving around the city, which was fine because again we were both new in town. He then pulls into a random parking lot and tries to ... fill in the blank. I told him no and that I wanted to go home. Eventually he does and tried to go up to my room with me. I shut that down in every way but the only reason he finally let it go was because my roommate was home. The second time I saw him was also the last time. Only reason I met up with this kid again was because I had left my jacket, a far too expensive one I don't wanna part with, in his truck and I wanted it back. So this began the sweet talk to try and convince me being with him was a good idea to which I told him it was not. The part where I truly messed up was getting in his car. Stupid I know but it was 120 degrees outside and he had ac. He locked me in his truck and I kept threatening to call the police if he didn't let me out. He was getting violent so instead of calling the police I texted a close friend who this hockey kid thought I was dating to begin with. The other guy showed up faster than the cops would've and to make a stressful story short, I spent the night at my friends house because I didn't feel safe at my place after all that. I cut off all contact but for the past year he's still tried reaching out on so many different platforms. Also did I mention this KID lied about his age? Oh ya, me 19 talking to someone who I think is also 19 cause that's what his bio said only to find out he was 17. So glad I never kissed him or let anything happen.

I didn't realize paying for yourself on a first date is a sign it's potentially gone wrong. Apparently that confused my hubby on our first date. I just viewed it as it's just a getting to know you date, neither of us are invested enough at this point to pay for each other 😂 but I texted him right after to let him know I had a good time and wanted to go out again, so it was a short-lived miscommunication thankfully.

@Corapaslemagasin4 ай бұрын
@@daphneglasurus7886no she means first date. Because understand her 100% on this. If I have a good time, I expected him to ask to pay. Because that means he have a great time too, and if I have a great time too I will say yes thanks and Now I can say « my turn next time » and you already have an opportunity to know if it’s reciprocal. If I don’t like him i will always offert to pay or share. And in my case if he asks him too to share, I will accept but it won’t go any further. Because I will think he does really like me or not enough to pay 2 drinks. And also it’s cultural and educational. In my island, men pay for the first date (and every date normally but it’s less the case with the new generation). This is how men show respect to women and tell them they have a good time with them. Yes it’s old school, but at least it’s not because they are only expecting more just after the date. But because they are really into her or just polite. That also show they are not stingy. It’s really important to us people who are not stingy (women or men). But I’m not sure stingy for us means exactly the same as for you.

I pay for myself for anything a man is involved in that isnt a relative or someone ive been friends with for ages and we pay for each other to do stuff all the time. @dragonfliesnh4204Ай бұрын
I didn't think that was a sign either... I never let someone pay for me on the first few dates, which I always tell them ahead of time. I don't want them thinking that if they paid, they would get something in return or anything. I prefer meeting at a coffee place or a very low cost and casual restaurant. The idea of going to a fancy restaurant the first few dates makes me uncomfortable. If things are going well after a few dates, I don't mind paying every other time if they really want to pay at some point.

My absolute worst first and last date that I ignored all the red flags was with a guy who was into comic books just like me. First he told me on the date he'd teach me about comic books. We'd already discussed in messages i was really into them and discussed DC lore. He then lost his shit at me when a guy politely said cool t-shirt, i love Deadpool too. I was still like ok maybe hes nervous. He then shows me his comic book he'd written. He was complaining about people accusing him of being rasist when he'ss not. The villian was an Asian man who killed people by throwing fried rice and prepare yourself, The villans name was Fliedlice.... i stood strat up and walked away. He followed me into another pub where my friends were and began going nuts! He had the audacity to message me later saying he forgives my ignorance and we should go on another date.

My husband took me on a first date to McDonald’s and told me that I could have whatever I wanted on the menu. We had only known each other for about 6 months and we agreed to keep the dates cheap so that neither one of us would spend too much money on the other person. He paid for the first 2 dates and he let me pay on the third and we took turns paying. We dated for 4 years and then got engaged at a VERY fancy restaurant that he saved up for along with my engagement ring for a year to carry out. Then we stayed engaged for a year and got married. We’ll be married for 1 year in December and together for 6. You don’t have to go out to eat to fancy places on a first date. Save those for special occasions.

All my romantic partners were women I met at a coffee shop where I go casually to hang out with friends. I met them organically with no pretense of a relationship and had coffee with them several times before ever going on anything that could be perceived as a date with them, so I already knew I enjoyed their company and conversation. Even then, said date likely started with hanging out having coffee together and one of us saying something to the effect of "I'm hungry, you wanna get something to eat?" No pretense, no expectations, just two people getting food together who enjoy spending time with each other. For this reason, I have never in my life had a single bad date.

🚨The first example had my red flags flying but about her. I understand the focus is red flags from your date but what about the red flags that should be known concerning safety and what to NOT do!! 🚨 1) Never never never meet a new person in your home or hotel room. 2) never allow them to pick you up at your home or B&B or hotel. Getting into a car with a stranger is an absolute red flag. Always always always drive yourself or get an Uber to where you’re meeting. 3) Never tell them your home address or the exact hotel you’re staying at before the date. 4) Meet at a restaurant , coffee shop or establishment that is well lite, busy with customers and not out and away from other businesses and people coming and going. 5) always gets to your date destination a half hour early so you can assess the safety of the location. 6) Always tell hotel staff/or one family member or friend where your meeting and your dates name. 7) For hotel stays, leave the name, address and a phone number of a family/friend with the front desk in case of an emergency. 8) when you arrive early to your date, speak to the hostess, manager and introduce yourself and let them know about your meeting a new person for a date. At a minimum they naturally will have more attention and concern . 9) I could go on but, if all people ( especially young people) did these few things then they would be safer on every date. I actually went on a date with this guy, he was my older brother's old hockey teammate, he was between my brother and I in age. His dad also coached with my dad, who was also our mechanic. Long story short, the date was super awkward. Dinner was fine, but then he had the theaters mixed up so we had to drive a half hour away to go to the right movie theater to see the movie we wanted. We definitely had chemistry. We've known each other since elementary school and have a lot in common. He is a gem of a person. But we decided to just stay friends and not make things weird for our families. And he actually officiated my wedding last minute, instead of being a guest, because our officiant came down with covid the day prior. Sometimes awful dates still turn out ok! 👍

And now that I think about it wasn't horrendously awful. My favorite date, though he would consider it awful, was the first date with my now husband. He wanted to impress me with his Italian heritage cooking. (It's an extremely small town, and he knew I moved here from a city that is kinda somewhat of a cross between Seattle and Portland) He wanted to make a seafood sautee with scallops and prawns over a fettuccine and newburg sauce. Burnt the pasta, overcooked the seafood, and the sauce was more like a gravy. But here we are almost a decade later. So 🤷

He proceeded to 15mins before the date "double check" I was coming. I WAS DRIVING TO THE DATE, I don't use my phone while driving. He didn't show up, I texted saying I was driving and that's why I missed his text, and if he was seriously not coming. He said I was rude for not pulling over to answer his text, but he'll still come to the date because he "believes in second chances" and that he's 30mins out if he left that second.. The reason that genuinely kind men and women, don't seem to get picked by their forever person until later in life, is due to the fact that most of us grew up in households with parents who didn't pattern "love" to us in an appropriate way.. if our parents loved toxicity, we also do, as a consequence to the fact that we grew up in that environment and it is all we saw. We are recreating the patterns of our youth, for better or worse.. that's also why so many people get divorced in their 30's-40's.. because one day they wake up and realize they married their parent, and that this was never really love at all.. but it's a hard lesson to learn, and it takes even those who do eventually learn, a very long time to get there. This!!!! Congrats on finding such a good man! I LOVE hearing stories like these! I found my partner very similarly 🤍 I had just split from the father of my kids- together for 15 years, married 10. He had become a violently abusive alcoholic and I was raising four small kids alone with $0 help. I downloaded Instagram when we split just to make friends and met my now-partner. For the first couple of years we just acted silly, exchanged memes, nothing much. Then became closer when my best friend died. My now-partner worried a lot so he began calling me often to check up on me and he and I then slowly became best friends. Still had not met at this point. Ex hubs had begun terrorizing me and my now-bf drove across states to watch movies and eat pizza with me and take my mind off of things. This was our first meeting and we were inseparable after, although still just friends. After a few months we both realized neither of us were seeing anyone else and he finally confessed it’s Bc when he tried to have dates, the other girls just “weren’t me”… so we began dating. He moved in two years ago (moving 7 hours and 3 states over to mine) and we’ve been together 4.5 years now. My kids adore him, and he loves them, and our families are incredibly close… I told him last night that now- at 40 years old- I am happier than I ever recall being in my whole life and it’s VERY much due to his love and kindness. Sorry it’s so long, I just LOVE hearing other peoples similar stories and sharing ours. Love is something to celebrate 🤍

Not only a very revealing list of his gurus' names, but a crypto bro and (surprise!) wanting to leave CA for his rightful home of TX. I think we know what color baseball caps he favors...

@@chrystieheath1791 Me three! Is my husband perfect? Hell no, but to these guys he's Prince Charming! We eloped to Vegas and everyone said it wouldn't last. We'll be celebrating our 27th anniversary this year and after watching this video I appreciate him even more.

After not dating for 5 years, I tried again. Had been talking to him weeks before we went out. I dressed up, in a dress lol. I'm 62, I had pretty much given up dating, but he swayed me, so we went out. Met at his place, took his car to a winery an hour away. About 30 minutes in, he reached across the car and tried to cop a feel!😳 I told him not to do that. We get there and he gets a brick pizza, asking what I like. I'm easy with pizza lol. When we start eating, the extra toasty part, ie burned, is turned towards me. He scarfs down 6 of 8 slices, leaving me 2 burned slices. He's getting grumpy, telling me all of his accomplishments and we get back to his place. That's when he told me he was mad at me for not being felt up. Oh, so that's why you gave me the burned pizza? Yup. We talked for another week until he went after my family and friends on FB. He instantly got blocked, on all forms, never heard from him again.

I am sorry you had to deal with this. The entitlement of these kind of people is nauseating but not as nauseating as the punitive mindset and manipulation. I hope you are happy and safe.

WHY would you continue talking to this man after such a bad date? Also next time don't get into cars with men you don't know any better, have them meet you somewhere and drive yourself for your safety and so you can ditch them easier/faster if you need to get away.

Why did you continue giving him time after the date?? Come on

Don’t continue to give your time to someone who doesn’t deserve it. You don’t have to tolerate that.

I'm hesitant to share my story because it wasn't a first date, we went on quite a few dates. But I love how this turned into a support group for horrible experiences. I was naive and 18 and met a guy at a party, he was 23-24 at the time, we started flirting and he asked me out, the first date went well. Second date went well, by the third date, he took me to meet his friends at a restaurant which were a group of rich privileged asses and he treated me differently shrugging me off through the night. We got in a fight when he was dropping me off as I was put off my his behaviour at the restaurant and he basically gaslit me to forgive him for his behaviour, remind you this is our third date. The following week he invites me to his best friends birthday party and I kid you not it seemed like a movie, there were people consuming a white powder on tables, threesomes of people making out, another group of people playing weird version of truth or dare, and the guy I was going out with abandonded me after maybe 20 minutes after getting there. Long story short, one of his friends slapped my ass, another one of his friends tried making out with me when I was trying to look for my date, when I finally found my date and told him what happened his response was "we like to share our girls" a few other things happened that night that took me some time to get over but I basically blocked him and he stalked me for a few months after that..... looking back on it I should have seen all the red flags starting with the weird age difference.

The guy talking about the girl who stole from him and sat on his phone was probably so pissed when he rejected her offer to go to his place because she was hoping she could rob more things from his home. That girl is scary, and it's good that he got away from her.
@joannecraft98429 ай бұрын
She was probably making arrangements for someone to follow her and help rob him.

I’m very happily married but the guy in the hoodie with glasses would 100% be someone I would have dated when I was single. Kinda quirky but in such a sweet way. Hope his dating life is going much better!

I have three sons. They are all PhDs, earn well, clean up nicely, and are respectful. They tell me horror stories every week, from a first date demanding a gift, to the woman wanting to have dinner purchased for her and her friend. The middle one has decided he may become a monk.

You shouldn’t give up on dating because of other peoples disastrous dating lives… that’s just using a cop out for own life. Lol I am a normal 28 year old girl who likes exclusively coffee dates or walks first date, and there are normal ones of us out there I promise. But you need to be extremely careful on dating apps-men or women.

The showing-up-with-a-friend one actually happened to me once. There was this guy that I had a major crush on, but we lived in different states. We chatted online all the time though, almost daily at a certain point. That's when I travelled to his town (my family lives there), and as soon as I got there he called me out on what I assumed was a date - until I got there and he had also called his friend, and I was super confused. At least she was super nice and both of them included me in the conversation, but still, it was a weird night.

My worst date was in high school. The guy didn't have his own car yet so his parents took us to the movies and picked us up and it only got bad because before taking me home they had to go pick up his younger brother from practice. Considering it was my worst date, we are married now. XD
