My challenge at the age of 54 after extensive inner work after a lifetime of narcissistic abuse, is finding people in general that interest me. It all feels so superficial out here now. Small talk bores me. Thx for the video however. I have girlfriends that I see doing exactly what you’re speaking about and it’s like looking at my old self in the mirror and it’s super painful to watch them be so needy. I try to advise a bit yet it’s pointless. We all have to come to our own awakenings in our own time. Or not. Blessings you’re a beautiful soul.

Listening to you speak for the first few seconds reminds me of something I did at school when I was 13. I was in a lesson when they asked me to describe my perfect boyfriend and I put tall, dark-haired and handsome, nice smile. No tattoos and a non smoker. Then they asked me, what would be the worst, so they were already asking me to be judgemental so I put obese, ginger hair, glasses and spots. And in later years, that was after school i got in lived with a tall dark and what I considered to be handsome - and guess what? He fits the perfect profile, of a narcissistic person, the love bombing, the promising he could get me to meet Hollyoaks characters and all these things that he said he could do for me, he started the trauma bonding wanting to marry me very quickly, constantly calling me out it this way I was abused, emotionally and mentally when we split and in the relationship boundaries were constantly getting pushed. The next boyfriend started out to be a friend and guess what - he was all those things I thought I'd never look at a guy twice for but he had a good heart, compassion for me and because he was a friend I fell for him that way. It turned out I wasn't that shallow - although he didn't have spots. At the end of the day, I wanted to be loved and feel loved by someone who I found attractive - you have to have looks, you have to, because you need a spark. The only reason after splitting we remained friends was because we were good friends in the beginning

Also, the more normal guys don't rush into marriage with you. They prefer to date you, take you out, get to know you which I guessed when I met my narcissistic ex, I asked how come he was different from other guys, guys who suddenly run scared, or pulled back, because at the time I thought I was on to a winning relationship that getting married and children was everything I wanted long term and he didn't have to ask questions to know that's what I wanted. I realise now it was the love bombing and the trauma bonding taking place but I guess that's a major difference between a regular guy interested in you and a narcissistic person that makes everything move really fast. I remember my Mom saying to me once in the car trying to talk to me about it and saying to me about love but even she didn't understand the physiologically of this energy of feeling in love and trauma bonded - it was only after the relationship where she watched a talk show on abusive partners and she felt then he could have isolated me and physically attacked me and I remember thinking two things, one, he was full of hot air and never did things he said he was going to, do. I went scared when he said he'd booked our wedding and I looked like an idiot rushing around to cancel it because it was a lie but I just thought better to be safe than sorry, and two, he didn't need to isolate me, I felt that with every one not understanding me, saying terrible things about him who I adored and the fact that I felt I needed him that I felt we were like Romeo and Juliette a forbidden Iove, and because I felt I was simular minded to him and he was that white night hero that I could say goodbye to endless sorrow of being on my own without love so when parents think abusers isolate us, they don't do it, we do it, we do it because it feels good to be with them, and eve though it is to please them it's ha feeds your ache, and then especially if there are issues in the relationship between our families they will look for the cracks
