Being disabled and dating is exceptionally challenging. I've been through the same experience myself BUT make sure you hang in there. The right person will find you at the right time. I'm in an interabled relationship, and we have been together for over 30 years!

Hey Daniel, I have been disabled for over 30 years, I have used a cane, walker and now a wheelchair, I am also legally blind, and have PTSD, so I know where your coming from, I have had to learn from age 9 how to things for myself, I don't expect others to stop everything and help me, most of the time they don't, my lower back is fused so if I drop something, it generally stays there, You are a very beautiful person with an upbeat that I wished I had, but I try not to let it get to me, with umteen billion people there's bound to be someone who finds incredible, and I know you have a lot to give/offer the right person

I am a fit and trim good looking guy, which doesn't mean anything other than this. You are a drop-dead gorgeous woman. Hang in there. It's only a matter of time someone like me is going to cross your path and work hard to win your heart and trust. Sometimes the right person is not in our life because of time and space. Never think your not beautiful because you are. Wishing you the best and remember to stay safe. Never lower your standards because anyone that wants to be in your life will rise to meet them.

I have SMA. I've attracted some people before but I wasn't attracted to them. I have not attracted someone who I was attracted to, and I feel depressed when I think that it's impossible for me to be in a relationship with a person I truly love. I hope we can all find our true love one of these days. Your video gave me little hope.

Thanks for being open and honest. I'm not disabled, but have dated disabled and non-disabled women. There are men out there, that WILL be able to view you as a person, and not notice a chair. Don't give up that it will never happen, but at the same time, don't pine away your life waiting. I wish you all the best!

I have no doubt in my mind that someone super special will come your way. It might be happening later than your friends and other people, but patience brings such wonderful things. And hey, look at the positive side- you are NOT having to deal with kissing a bunch of toads! Those jerks get weeded out right away! They probably would not be the type of guy to handle your fierce independence anyway. So keep up the positive attitude and independence, you are inspiring to all of us.

As someone disabled, I think it's about your personality, if as I was told if u go on about yr disability it defines you. I've loved a guy three years and when I go down the disability route, he says stop u arent giving me credit for loving you as you, I'm here.be you always and not making it define you.. So, I stopped defining myself as disabled and its tiring and causes walls. I make soap, bath bombs and purpose is soooo important, my kids help me.. But I think u have to give compassion to your part that is disabled, but do what you believe in and if that guy goes , he goes and same for me.. Great video x

I was scrolling down, reading a few comments. Shocking how people can't be honest or do an effort to understand few things about others. I found really upsetting how a person do a first date as an "experiment" to see if they can "handle" an specific situation. I do agree on the fact that you have to find something that attracts and "clicks" with other person. But before you approach someone, with or without a disability, you have to be clear on your mind that is not about only you, it's about 2 people to connect with each other. If you start judging what you can't handle about other person, you are selfish. You are just thinking on how hard is for you to handle a situation. Then trying to be a bigger person, encouraging the other person to keep persevering, and there is someone for you who will care, understand and blah blah blah. Really? If you are not even trying. I have no disability, have been judge on other aspects, but have a strong believer in giving a try! You will miss knowing, loving and caring a lot of amazing people with amazing things to add to your life, if you don't do your best in trying. I have read here a lot of talented, beautiful and smart people. To all of you, including you Danielle, is their lost, not yours. They missed the chance to be around extremely talented, smart and caring people. Never ever try to be up to the expectations of anyone. Thank you all for sharing! 😊

Well said focusing on your purpose is greater that being in a relationship. You're a beautiful woman and the right guy will not see your disability but will see the beauty you have inside. You just need to open up and give yourself a chance too. I've learned that accepting yourself is hard even with a person without a disability, but is the most important thing we can practice everyday, like you said we have all this garbage that society keeps trying to feed us, but when you get to the point of accepting yourself, is when you begin to love yourself for who you really are and that opens up a whole new world of possibilities. It was great to see your video and may God bless you always.

Dating with a disability is very tough. Especially After what happen with my ex & my disability :( My story ( disclaimer ) 1st she isn't the 1st to question my disability as a detriment and can't see a future with me because of it She like the 8 or 9th in 10 years that did very similar things because they thought my disability was equal to laziness So I doubt she'll be the last because of everything I have experienced 2nd This is just my own personal account I hope it helps others not only those in the disabled Community But others understand how difficult it can be to date when having a condition at such a young age ( Thank you ) As a guy I have 2 disability a anxiety condition( mild processing disorder) since I was 10 & a physical condition known as ulcerative colitis since I was 20 and it’s been very difficult especially with dating I was dating my ex for about 8 months 1) it was long distance ( till the end of 2018 she would be done with school & would be home by me ) 2) there was a 5 year age gap I was 27 and she was 22 Anyway she wanted a “break” ( she said it was because the school ) But I feel she was lying to me because while we did a “break“ for 4 months she not only refused to meet with me on 3 separate times when she kept saying let me on this day, let's met on this day etc ( said it because of her "feeling" :/ ) She also said some hurtful things for no reason “ I thought at age 27 you would be living on your own “ “ I wish you had a Career more in your field “ "I want someone more manly" These comments not only fly in the face of both how the relationship was built on love, compassion etc we never fault before But also how I was upfront from the start of us dating and told her "I HAVE ULSURTIVE COLITIS" 1) it very very expensive medical condition 2) which has no cure in 2019 nor do they know what causes it 3) and women in the past have judge me just base on this condition So I broke up with her at the beginning of last year ( 2018 ) She wanted to see me during the summer 2018 to basically be "friends" With her saying things like " I miss you and want to just hang" " I wish we can dated another 2 to 3 years from now" So with her saying those things it shattered me. because even though we broke up I didn't date anyone for almost a year because I thought she was the one and I'm a person that keeps his promises when I say that I'm going to wait a year I waited a year before dating So with her basically telling me I'm going to be on the sidelines while she dates other people just because she wants me in her life after what she did I told her no I cant see you Because I feel her saying those words completely disregards the fact that I waited an entire year to date her And shows regardless of her age a complete lack of empathy, understanding or integrity And I know some people are going to say oh she's 22. But it doesn't matter if you're 20 to 50 years old etc You should have a basic understanding of human decency and empathy When I was her age I still wouldn't judge another person's weaknesses as a detriment upon me I have been in a relationship regardless of how they had anger issues were assaulted as a youth etc ( basically their flaws didn't get in the way of the relationship, it was their disregard of my condition that did on numerous occasions ) I also didn’t want to be put on sidelines while she meets someone else's especially the way she was saying " we shouldn't close ourselves off to other people" Lying that it was school being the main reason she couldn't be with me. I Know Myself And if I were to see her on Facebook or any other place in the arms of another guy or kissing another guy I don't want to see the side of it :( :( Especially all the waiting I did to be with her because I thought she was "the one" This experience hands down has been the worst thing I have ever experienced when it comes to dating It upset me so much 😢😢😢😢😢😢 I know it's not going to go away this feeling or this experience anytime soon. She contacted me periodically till November 2018 when she wrote “miss you 💔" when she saw me with another girl in a photo on Facebook but it was just a photo from my friends birthday party. Sadly even then it showed no initiative on her side to make things work I pretty much made it clear that it was either a romantic relationship or nothing when I refused to see her as just friends Especially when every conversation was through text But she never 1) calls me 2) never stop by my house to talk 3) never came to any of my numerous events that was putting on with my artwork ( which I listed below ) So take my advice and don't do friends with an ex or taking breaks in a relationship Because when "someone wants a 1 year break because you say you need to focus on school but lie and "say i lost feeling" or "your immature" It's just a waste of time Do you think I did the right thing? there’s times where I feel this void like the way things went where there’s no Closure even though we’re “ just friends on fb” and we haven’t talked since Oh and she not only disregarded my mental and physical conditions She didn't take into account the things I done despite my condition. comparing me to others without a disability with her comments :( 1) got my bachelor degree in art 2) illustrated 15 children books 3) volunteer my time with non profit organizations march of Dimes, American kidney foundation, the lions club to name a few 4) display my artwork in gallery, banks and library 5)interview and received rewards for my art

@@daniellability first thank you for taking the time to read my comment I really appreciate it 😊 your story and advice really spoke to me. 2nd I'm trying my best to realize that no relationship can bring me happiness. It's still very hard because I always wanted to have kids and get married since I was 12 years old. It's been super discouraging running into certain individuals such as the last one. But after 10 years of constant dating ( I'm now 31 ) I'm just going to keep moving forward with my projects and do my best to take each dating experience one step at a time.

Overforce65, I read your story..... I went through a similar situation as you..... I met a "Lady" on here we were long distance from May 4 of 04. I moved to Michigan in December of 05. I asked her to marry me in Oct. of 06,....... Fast forward to April 2011 I found out She had been cheating on me the whole time we had known each other........ When I confronted her with it, She told me She couldn't live with a man in a wheelchair. I asked her "It took you Almost 6 years to figure that out?" Her reply was "Just don't speak to me anymore" As I said, I understand where you are coming from. I hope you find someone.

I stumbled across your video on my youtbe journy and think you ate a beautiful cool person. Id love to be around you all the time. You seem very fun and intelligent. Very attractive woman. I loved a girl woth spina bifida when I was 16. I knew everything about her and her disability. I knew her fears and some embarrassing stuff. I loved her so much none of it even fazed me. It was a wnderful 18 months. Of coarse we were teens and screwed everything up.

Thank you so much for this honest and open video I appreciate it so much and for me the most upsetting part isn't being single but seeing potential romantic relationships not form because of the disability as if all the hard work I put into myself in confidence and appearance and personality is moot because of one aspect I can't control

Thanks so much for the kind words! And I completely relate to what you're saying. I too often feel like having a disability automatically makes people see me as not relationship material, even though I have many good qualities to offer. So I think that's where it's important to just be yourself and find ways to fill your life - because I would rather be happy with who I am as a person than be miserable simply because I'm not in a relationship.

Watching all my friends go to prom was the worst. But another thing I am surprised you have not experienced...to have a guy come on to us while driving or seated at a restaurant. Then to see him bail out when he sees our lower half or chair. When I was on crutches, that happened all the time. It would be funny if it wasnt so soul crushing. Your attitude is great. Don't settle. When I became comfortable with the idea that I might always be single, my guy entered my life suddenly. We married 5 months later. That was 32 years ago. You seem to be an amazing woman with so much going for you. Trust those instincts. It will be worth the wait and you will be a better person for it. Besides, many of those brides you know will be single again. Thanks for the courage to post this. Wish I had a friend who understood all this when I was in my 20s.

I also have a couple of disibilities, one being, I am blind, but also have a very mild processing delay. You know, its not whats on the outside that counts, its what's on the inside, its within someone's heart that counts. What a shame that sasiyety doesn't reolise that. PS, please excuse the bad misspelled words here, lol.
