I find dating in Sweden so frustrating. Because everything moves so slowly you never really know where you have that person. Are we just friends, friends with benefits, a couple, lovers? There is aloooot of going back and forth and alot of being in that middle ground of not being together but not dating others which in my opinion is very uncomfortable. I feel people in the US are alot more clear which makes everything alot easier!

I'm Swedish and don't know much about American culture, but from what I've heard it's a lot more common to date several people at once in America. In Sweden most people only date one person at a time, so you have to make it very clear in the beginning if you're dating/planning on dating several people at once! Most people will be fine with you dating several people at once as long as you haven't done anything physical yet, but if you don't mention it, they will assume that they're the only person you're dating. So be mindful of that since it can lead to jealousy or people thinking you're playing them or not being serious if you don't tell them about it early on.

These oldschool kind of dates, as far as I know (and maybe its not like that anymore o.O) didnt really contain much intimacy but were essentially just hanging out, going to the movies etc to see if you matched, a "partnership interview" if you will, and as long as thats all thats happening why would it be wrong to watch movies with 2 different people? Its just very wierd if youve never grown up with that culture... In sweden a "Date" is not a "partnerships interview" we tend to skip that and the "date" becomes way more intimate as its commonly accepted that you only accept a date if you already know youre interested in the other person, sex on the first date is not an overwhelming majority or anything but its not rare by any metric and making out is almost guaranteed so if you're *Dating* several people at once in Sweden, youre a bit of an asshole.

I think is always good to go out for fika first later hook up. You never know who you are dealing with. Cheating here are not big thing so be carefull. If you will feel like to get family or someone serious better choose USA just saying. View about Sweden from student's perspective is different than from regulars. This country has big rape rate and getting worse. Prices of living goes up and it is not going along with salaries ao you get paid same but playing more for living. I love many things about Sweden and I appreciate a lot of stuff but my trust level with people got worst and I have been lucky to find my partner who was a newcomer in Sweden so his values about relationship were really good. I was in Sweden during the summer, I found that most Swedish guys don’t approach girls, and didn’t even chit chat, which didn’t make any sense to me, because I found that most of them were immensely good looking men. I went out with two Swedish girls during my two week stay, and it was interesting to see that girls wanted to pay for their share of everything, it just happened naturally, and it was quite ironic that for a guy from Arabia, I freaked out, and was like on MUST CHECK MY SURROUnDINGS for anyone gazing upon this scene, and must not allow them to report this back to my tribe lol. But it was quite refreshing, there was no pressure on me being the man to pay for everything, and to think of everything. Actually, because it was my first ever visit to Sweden, it was the ladies who made all the plans and recommendations to show off Stockholm, and the islands around the arichpelago to me. Lastly, it wasn’t that bad, the whole gender equality thing going on, I saw a lot of perks. Merry Christmas everyone from Dubai.
@__-bc4bs6 жыл бұрын
Look man, we swedish guys don´t want a girl when living in sweden anymore. Our feminazi society has made it impossible to have some sort of meaningful relationship with swedish chicks. You got the whole system rigged against you here. If you don´t get falsely accused of rape #falsktillvitelse You´re probably gonna get some swedish chick fluffing you up in the start, then you get engaged and fooled into marriage. Then after a couple of years she divorce you steal your kids and your money and again, false rape accusations #falsktillvitelse It´s simply not worth bothering anymore. So most swedish guys are staying away from relationships and are just working to get out of sweden and move to another country to start a family.

I am trying my very best to understand your plight. As I did see some of these elements you pointed out right in front of me, and have read a lot more throughout the years, or at least since 2016. If I may? Would you say that the same situation exists in Norway, Denmark, and Finland too? Or does it very from one country to one another? The reason I ask is that; to my humble knowledge, many Swedes work in Norway for instance, which is quite obvious and goes without saying, as the NOK is stronger, and salaries are higher, though I would imagine that life is more expensive in Oslo than Stockholm, no? One last point, and I do hope you would forgive my bombardment of questions. Why doesn’t this toxic masculinity extend to men from outside of Sweden? Especially a gentleman such as myself, who happens to be from a world and a civilization with the lowest gender equality imaginable, especially when set against a scandenivian man? It just never made any sense to me, and the blaming of everything on straight white males. I don’t know, I just hope I made some sense. I look forward to hearing from you.

@@khalidalali186 I would say it is most frequent in sweden and it was the swedish government that invented these libtard ideologies out of thin air with zero consideration to reality and science. Danmark, Finland and Norway stick more to our 1000 year old christian ethics instead of the liberal mess from drottningholm and rosenbad so they have these issues to a far lower extent even if they can occur with some. For swedes working in norway pays better and swedes often consider Norway more expensive to live in than stockholm, but most people from other countries can´t tell the difference and say they are both expensive. This is due to our extremely high tax. The bogus gender equlity propaganda doesn´t extend to other countries as long as you don´t invite our politicians to come and ruin your culture too. It only extend inside sweden due to harassment and persecution done by our monarchs and government ontothe swedish people, which is why more and more men here in sweden are distancing themselves to any form of relationship with a woman in sweden and are just working here til they can afford to move to a normal country and create a family in a good environment.
@khalidalali1866 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t know how to reply to that to be honest. I’m currently watching the news about the Danish folk song about a blonde girl, and how one foreign teacher at the Copenhagen Business School was offended somehow by that song, and how no one entertained her, except for the wimpy university dean I believe, and how members of parliament sang the song in defiance, and how the Justice minister tweeted how ridiculous this is! For a women, whose not even a Dane to be offended by a song. The Danes seem not to give any damn whatsoever about PC culture. Good on them. Whereas in Sweden I would assume you would get into trouble for speaking your mind, and wondering off the precepts or dictums of mainstream thoughts being enforced against you by the government through different outlets, including education or indoctrination from a young age. You’re taxes are indeed very high. When people kept asking me about whether or not Sweden is as wealthy as the United Arab Emirates, and they asked my younger brother the same thing about Norway. We both answered that yeah, they are wealthy countries, with populations of 10 and 5 million respectively. Yes GDP per capita is very high, similar to us. But the funny part was that, we would keep telling everyone how they had to fund this social welfare system through a very progressive tax system, with very high income tax rates, so their after tax incomes were lower, as we don’t have any form of income tax as of yet, and only VAT was introduced the beginning of this year. I also noticed that many people took advantage of this generous welfare system in Sweden, and my brother commented how the Universal Basic Income failed in Norway, as people chilled rather than did anything good with so much time in their hands. Moreover, my brother and I both agreed, that life in Oslo or Stockholm was way more expensive than life in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, though our cities happen to be some of the most expensive to live in as well. If I also dare say sir! And please correct me if I am wrong, but I found that there is a huge gap in distribution of wealth among the native Swedes, considering the people who live in the nice areas of Stockholm, and who have modern glassy cabins around the archipelago, in contrast to those living in Less well off neighborhoods, with a very large migrant population among them too. Oh and btw! I never understood why in police reports or news they never say that such and such a man committed such and such a crime, especially if he was a Muslim?! Are they worried that the liberals and feminists would accuse them of racism and islamophobia? If so, that’s extremely stupid and counter productive. And would people face problems in their careers let’s say, if they were to post something that is deemed politically incorrect on social media for instance?

@@khalidalali186 Yes, Denmark has a tradition of standing up against overly conforming behavior i.e "jantelagen" a concept that was invented by a danish author in the 1930s, describing a stupid PC behavior that had it´s roots in socialism. The book is called "A Fugitive Covers His Tracks" by the author Aksel Sandmose. Aksel was born in Denmark and moved to Norway in the 1930s. This is one of his most celebrated books that really pinpoints the problematic mindset and mental abuse that was imposed onto the swedish people by the swedish monarchy and government. You can buy it from this link: www.amazon.com/Fugitive-Covers-His-Tracks-ebook/dp/B07F8Z62RV/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1540465290&sr=8-1&keywords=A+Fugitive+Covers+His+Tracks&dpID=51Oc0LMZLML&preST=_SX342_QL70_&dpSrc=srch This phenomenon peaked in the 1970s in stockholm sweden in the classic "Normalmstorg hostage incident" were the people that were taken hostage ended up sympathizing with the criminal at the cost of their own expence, even lives, instead of with the police that was trying to save them. This phenomenon was later noticed in psychiatry and labeled as #stockholmsyndrome There are many illogical and overly conforming behaviors that spring out of our socialist past. A Norwegian man made a documentary series about it where he deals with most of these hypocritical behaviors. The documentary series is called "Hjernevask" (Brainwash) and it´s made by the Norwegian sociologist and celebrity Harald Eia. The documentary series is in Norwegian with english subtitles and deals with all of the issues Scandinavian countries, but mostly sweden has, that are sprung out of our socialism/communism past. Denial of science and fact, and hiding and twisting the truth to the Swedish people. Here´s a link to the documentary series: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2aaaJ2em5doqpY Yes there is an increasing gap between socioeconomic level in sweden. From the modern glassy cabins around the archipelago, down to the "nogozones" outside the cities. This is another problem that has it´s roots in socialist politicians of creating the "million programmet" in the 1970s and has escalated into the very problematic situations we see today. The media SVT that also has its roots in socialism, and also Tv4 to some extent. Have these PC agendas that are extremely stupid and counterproductive. Many people have faced issues in their careers when they expressed something on social media that is deemed politically incorrect. A grassroots movement by the swedish people is currently growing stronger that oppose all of this problematic and hypocritical stuff held up by our socialist/liberal fascist government and monarchy.

Well, there's 10 million living in Sweden, generally concentrated in much denser areas than the US. If you live in a e.g. 500k population city in Sweden it wouldn't be much different from living in a 500k population city in the US, you'd be surrounded by the same amount of people within your range of interaction. So I think you're exaggerating this a little bit. Your situation wouldn't be much different if you lived in a comparable US city. But, of course, if you live in New York or LA it would be much different. It all 100% depends on the population density where you live, and the total population density in Sweden is actually just slightly lower than the US. I think you just know a lot of people, lol.

As an American of Swedish descent, I can see the benefit of moving slower in a relationship, the Swedes have that right. As far as marriage, I believe it is an institution that God established, not man. So I got married to the woman that is now my wife. It is a commitment that you make to that other person. There is great security in it, both emotionally and physically. The thing that makes me question the Swedes on is the late marriages and having kids so late. I want my older years to be having fun with my wife again. I do not want to be middle aged with babies or elderly with 15 year old kids. Americans try to get it over when you are young and you have the nerves and energy to deal with children.

All of the wimen's kontaktannons a read here says the same, it's so common to read that wimen are alredy happy and like their job , like to do many things as possible, being in the nature, like to have fun and laugh etc. but sometimes it feel that it can be extra to have a partner and the man must should be a non existing superman on every level. Youre pretty much on point, ofc many things are from individual to individual but over all ita seem pretty fair. About the whole cocky thing, its in general ok or even effective to be a little bit cocky, just dont be cocky about the wrong stuff, talking loudly and boasting about how much money you make 99% of people will consider you a narcissist and a will probably be interpreted as you not having any good peraonal traits to lean on or lack the confidence to do so, both of which would put you in a ratger bad light. I guess cocky isnt really a good word but rather cheeky I guess, having the balls to speak your mind even if its controversial and standing for you opinion no matter if someone disagrees. Dark cheeky humour is a fantastic tool when dating in sweden but it has to be applied right. A little bit past the line for whats actually socially acceptable to say, and said with a mischievous smirk and a playful look in the eye and youre golden, takes some experience to figure out where and when this is suitable cuz its not always obvious 😁

My Swedish friends told me a couple of things which maybe you all can support or negate. I heard Swedes don’t play by the silly American dating rules (no sex on the first date, wait 30 days to have sex or sex only after the 6th date, or no sex until both parties express exclusivity). If this is true I think the Swedish way is more liberating tbh. The dating culture in America is just one stupid chess game. And why do I always have to pay for the meal (dinners, coffees, movies, desserts, gas for roadtrips). I admire Swedish women bc it is expensive to date in America. God forbid I don’t pay for a woman’s 4th drink and her best friends drinks, I am labeled a cheapskate. I also heard the condom culture in Sweden is non existent, which is worrisome bc STDs are on the rise in most developed nations. So I’m wondering why Swedes aren’t feeling condoms? Help me understand bc I’ve only been to Sweden 3 times (just Stockholm and Malmo).
@sagalindhe6 жыл бұрын
Yes you can have sex on the first date here and it's not wierd. Two, people who have sex or date here often have a very relaxed conversation and can get in on the conversation about std's before sex and/or we know each other from before. Or maybe our friends know them and so we become more relaxed about the situation. But condoms are being used very frequently.
@AM-gv9db6 жыл бұрын
I'm a 22 year old woman who have grown up in Sweden. I've been in a relationship since I was 17 so I haven't had a lot of different sex partners, but from what I understand condoms are not used as much as they should. From what my friends have said and from what I know from before my relationship, most men prefer having sex without a condom regardless if it's a new partner or not. Though, they will not refuse sex if the girl wants them to use a condom (but the girl often has to bring her own for it to happen since most men don't wear them). So if you want to have safe sex in Sweden most people will agree to use a condom, but make sure you have one yourself since a lot of people don't have them at hand.
