As a retired swedish ww2 hero I want to add to the story: We should be thankful and grateful to Norway since most of the nature in the form of scenery, soil / stones and wildlife etc has drifted from the Norwegian hills and mountains to form what today is called sweden. Not many mention this fact - but we should do more to show gratitude toward Norway and the norwegian people. And we should also finally admit that the vikings originally came from Norway (and later spread to sweden and denmark).

I don't get the hype about the vikings. The goths came from Sweden and they literally founded some of the most amazing kingdoms and historical changes in Europe. True about Norwegian geology! Their fjords are incredible

The people in Sweden are very socially active. Especially when you compare them to Finns. Fika with coworkers or friends happens very often, and they also take time to work out etc. Northern people are pretty shy and it can be easily mixed with not wanting to socialize. Well, people in Finland probably don't want to socialize most of the time but they are so different from all the others.

@@thewalker338 I think Sweden is more egalitarian among the sexes. Women may be more open to the question of who is the “bread winner” and who is taking care of personal and home needs. I also have the opinion that Swedes (and, maybe Scandinavians) are less materialistic than many western societies. Don’t go after or take an interest in women who obviously are into status seeking and who value impressing others. Plenty of attractive and nice women who men don’t value because they aren’t flashy or “hot.”

In the realm of dating, it is often said to never dare date a Swedish person, unless you are ready to be swept away by their irresistibly charming ways. With their effortlessly cool demeanor and natural sense of style, Swedes possess an innate ability to make every date feel like a rendezvous straight out of a Scandinavian fairytale. But beware, for behind those captivating blue eyes lies a wickedly sharp wit that can catch you off guard in the most unexpected moments. Their dry humor and quick comebacks will have you laughing till your cheeks hurt, leaving no room for dull or tedious conversations. So if you're up for an adventure filled with stimulating banter, enchanting culture, and breathtaking beauty all rolled into one package, lured into the arms of a Swedish sweetheart might just be the best decision you'll ever make - assuming you can keep up with their witty repertoire!

I'm Swedish and can tell you it's the opposite, we put a lot of effort into our relationships (including friendships). This ties into why a lot of people from other cultures might think we come across as very reserved. It takes time to befriend us since even a friendship is a long-term relationship for us, and that is also why the people who finds us reserved it the ones that usually doesn't want to put in time and effort in my opinion :)

@@ekanimation interesting, I have some questions. So I heard on one interview that personal happiness is the most important in Scandinavia countries. So my question is, do you think that at the expense of happiness, people will neglect their partner for their own feelings? Like you even said that there is less pressure to stay in a marriage when you're not happy. So I believe you can't trust someone that will put themselves above the team/marriage.
@ekanimation

@@berrymckockiner5883 in Sweden we have a law giving us the same rights when living together (sambo) in a relationship as in a marriage so I think to most of us it's just a title, it doesn't change the relationship in any way. If a relationship is good from the beginning we stay together, regardless if married or as sambo (living together without marriage) or just in a relationship. Some people get married, some don't and some change their mind. If you got married to someone and they started treating you poorly or you just don't get along anymore no matter how hard you've tried, would you stay then?

It’s horrible if you are more then 5 years older then the Swedish girl is, and even worse if you are more then 10 years older, she will not even look at you. “How old are you”? Is the first they ask. Second is “Where do you live?”. If you live outside Stockholm city, in any of the suburbs, and the girl lives closer, she will not go out with you. So if you want a little younger girl/woman and start a new life with, don’t even go to Sweden, specially not Stockholm. Unless you have a 3 room apartment in Kungsholmen, Wasastan or even better Östermalm/ Sturegatan, and am very rich and drive a fancy car, then you can have a much younger Swedish girl. It doesn’t matter if Sweden is a “equal country” between men and women, it’s in the genes “same or higher social standard/education/class” within every girl/women. Till she does not want to have more children, and that is the time when how a person IS becomes more important. We are more like “small islands” in Sweden and once in a while in our dream we need a partner, but if everything does not work perfect, or she find a man who is richer or lives in a bigger house/apartment, she will think of getting divorced. Money is everything even in Sweden, and if you are a man who loose your pilot job, and start to drive a bus…. She will divorce you, it’s just a matter of time…. So.. it’s the same in every country. Because girls are looking for Ken, in the Barbie world. And it does not matter how “equal” it is between men and women. They still want the man who has everything she want a man to have. If you have all that, then she will stay. And I am talking about material stuff. Plus, if you are a Swedish man, who does not drink beer and wine… she will break up because of that. Because she will automatic think you were a alcoholic who went to a AA meeting and became sober. She will NEVER understand if it was just your choice, or the fact that you maybe don’t LIKE it. You have to like wine so your Swedish girlfriend can sit on Friday evening and share a bottle of wine with you. So for me who does not like beer and don’t like wine… I am out totally to be able to find a Swedish girlfriend. My experience of being a Swedish man, who tried to find a Swedish girlfriend after the age of 44 and start a new family, without being a pilot and not having an apartment in Stockholm city and not drinking alcohol normally. Because Swedish women does not want a man like me, but girls from countries where most men are alcoholics or countries where alcohol is forbidden, or from very poor countries, I have a better chance to find someone to be with. How crazy is that, that a high educated man like me, with a big heart, can’t find a partner in Sweden? But it’s just how it is.

I get what they are saying but at the same time its scary. I get that individuality and self fulfillment is important but so is love and family. I think feminism can lead to this mentality that ”im not going to waste my time on you because my time and life is to important to waste on someone like you” which can be pure evil at times depending on the situation. Everyone dont have this mindset about themselves, they just want to find someone who they love and loves them back so they can have a good life together. But this is more and more seen as something thats wrong or weak which is sad. At the end of the day despite of which career you choose in your life, in the end the ones who are going to be by your side is you and your family.
