In fact the tribes of davao region has never converted to Islam even before the time of uyanguren and claveria and in fact fought the Islamic forces and thus until today the tribes of southern Mindanao are not Muslims but practicing their old tribal religion, though some of them converted to protestants and Catholicism. The true tribal chieftain of davao who fought the conquering Islamist must be recognized also for they contributed to the advancement of davao by siding with the old tribal loyalty and eventually sided with Spain as progress is imminent and needed by the curious tribes for the betterment of living standards and modern technology brought by Spain.
