this song... JUST HITS DIFFERENT. this one feels like some supercut of memories, sadness, happiness, moments when you speak to your friends on phone, laughing, thinking about future and etc. that line "i had a dream you had a child". i suddenly have a vision of elena talking to her grandma/mother and she describes it to her. child laughing can symbolise elena's thoughts in that moment. maybe thinking abt actually having a child one day. "is it me?" line is confusing one. on the first listen i thought it said "is it for me?". feels like someone lost and doesn't remember what they did like 20 minutes ago. "dream, dream, dream" feels like someone trying to remember the dream they had night before. and that chilling sound of phone ringing feels like a time loop. wow. and of course melody is just so flawless. gives hope and grief at the same time. THIS ONE is my favourite from the album after be on your way and swim back.

To me, this feels like a continuation or a succession to 'Doing The Right Thing' which was written about Elena's grandmother who had Alzheimer and how her memories were going. This very much feels something out of "Everywhere At The End of Time". Someone remembering things, small moments of clarification in a fog of dementia. The old laughter of children. Was it her own laughter? Her daughter's? Her granddaughter's? Is it all just a dream? She dreamt that 'you had a child'. Was it just a dream, or reality? For people with dementia and Alzheimer, there can't be a differentiation. Dream and wake are blurred together. Small memories of old phone calls. Small vignettes of the life before. And it hits really hard, the same way The Caretaker's album hit. But this one is... more serene in a way. Like the final moments of someone who suffers from Alzheimer or Dementia. Serene moments of old recollections amidst the fog. A disconnected collage that eases the moment of leaving. She dreamt she had a child. The way the voice spoke sounded like that of an old woman, but calm. Maybe the idea of her granddaughter having a child was enough to give her peace, regardless of if it's real or not.

This track from the record is the most interesting, but at the same time the most frightening for me. I would so like to know more about it, who is talking, what kind of child is she talking about and so on? I have a theory that these are samples and voices from Elena's childhood videos, perhaps.

I'm quite sure I read somewhere that these recordings are from her nephew and at the start of wish I could cross the sea from her niece.

Usually with artists they release a big soul touching album and then they stop connecting with me on that level. But with Daughter every album seems to be more and more soul touching....

Masterpiece! Extremly emotional. That song extremly catch. But i have to say, this is the only really good song on this album. I really like your old Music, also as Ex Re, darker, bit badder but it had the something extra, which it made special. But this album in my opinion have not the power, "i dont reconize anymore"...
