I still get sad that he's not around anymore 😑 many under appreciate Gwar, people think they are just a silly band who make dumb but fun metal music but listening to their stuff a lot again lately yes they are obviously satirical and it's funny, but they are genuinely really fucking good, to me personally. I consider it true hardcore music, and they did it brilliantly! I've always taken them more seriously than maybe they are supposed to be? Don't know 😂 Good to see someone thinks the same. Dave was a great creative musician.
@Stewozz98

You can't credit something for which people can not categorize. Hence the real meaning of GWAR's existence. To not be placed into any one thing and then become nothing, but to be everything and still be everything nothing is. A mere classification does not greatness make.

Why not her? Fuck. It's such bullshit. Nobody can be Dave either. Nobody. Not you. Not even me. Not your pal. Not my pal. Not my Uncle that touched my peepee when I had my first beer. Nobody. No one. Not a single soul can be Dave. He's gone. And Cory's gone. It's shit. What the fuck is happening? It seems like you've gotta BE a stupid, privileged, piece of fucking shit, scum of the earth, bag of pig vomit in order to make it in this life. Cause all people who are remotely 'cool', just end up dead. And that fucking sucks. It sucks! ... Fuck. Thank you for sharing the grief, man. This is still hard for me. And I never even really met the guy. Him and his music just influenced me so hard from such an early age. I've been to 12 GWAR shows! There will not be a 13th for me. And that rips at me hard, too. No new GWAR albums. No tours. None of that shit. No more Oderus Urungus and his cuttle fish. No more getting drenched in whatever spewing filth they have to drench us with at their shows. Like many other deaths in the music industry that we all have went through. We will get through this. But we will NEVER forget Dave Brockie. Never.

Glorbin Highbit I agree, man. Last time I saw Gwar was in '08 I believe, with the brief return of Sleazy and it happened to be on my birthday. Gwar has been one of my favorite bands, and Dave has been one of my favorite artists for a long ass time. It's hard to believe Gwar is over, without Dave it cant/wont be the same. Gwar was his everything, the guy was one of the most creative and brutally blunt and truthful people making music. I'm equally bummed, man... never felt this bummed about a mans death I didn't know personally...
@fireturtleradio
@fireturtleradio 10 жыл бұрын
Glorbin Highbit I feel your pain. 100%! It has been over a month and I still can't help but sit here for at least an hour a night just going through interviews and live videos that I have already seen and some that I haven't. GWAR molded my view of artistry and humor at a young age and they were always around when I was growing up. From their Hot Seat appearance, to the Beavis & Butthead video game that I spent weeks trying to beat, to America Must Be Destroyed blasting in my older brother's truck while we drove to and from hobby shops and record stores, GWAR was there and I was never shocked by them. I just grew up thinking that it was what musicians that gave a shit were supposed to do. I celebrated so many milestones at GWAR shows. They were the first band that I ever saw while high, the first band I ever saw while shitfaced...the only band I ever drove over six hours to see, got there late and only caught the last 15 minutes of the show, but was still happy because I got to go to Waffle House afterward, covered in stage blood and spew. I even got to see them on my 21st birthday in Las Vegas when they were on the Sounds of the Underground tour in 2006. Dave Brockie and his body of work have been such a huge influence on me over the last 20 years and I'll always regret that I didn't just run up to the guy, hug him and tell him how much everything he has done has meant to me, in the parking lot after a show. I don't think he would have minded.

GWAR is one those bands that got exponentially better with age. I grew up listening to them, but didn't get the chance to see them live until 2007 when I was in my early 20s; it was well worth the wait. I've seen them countless times since then and hope they're still around to play at my funeral. RIP Brockie. Btw, super tight video. I often come back and watch this specific concert at least once a month. There's something about seeing them without all the costumes that's special. Even though he's been doing it so long, singing like Brockie does must be hard on his throat and body, but he makes it looks easy as fuck.

The first time I saw them was summer 92 in Syracuse NY. For the encore they came out completely naked except for Slymenstra. Oderus jumped into the crowd and landed right on my head. We couldn’t hold him up to crowd surf bc he and everything was soaked in sweat beer and GWAR stuff. He hit the floor hard. And got right back up to finish Sick Of You. One of my fondest life moments.

I was at this show . 519 punk reunion at Riverside park in Guelph ont. Where i live. Crowd was subdued for most of the bands. Headliners RAWG came on late waiting for Dave. He shows up last minute , havin a bad day, says fuck it lets play some rock n roll crowd went nuts. Loved the guy immediately. Very likeable. Can tell hes havin a good time. Smokin weed from the crowd. Wish i hadda stuck around and drank with them afterwards. Was very sad to hear he died. Something seriously cool about him. RIP Oderus

I know I've already commented alot but I cant help but be amazed at the passion and intensity they still have at what appears to be a small crowd,and after damn near 30 years. It can be hard to tell with their costumes on but there is no question here. They are not just going through the motions. They still clearly love what they do and that is awesome.We miss you, Dave!
