The answer may be that once they move into the farm, he will need something that will haul / tow a heavy load and his 1/2-ton truck just won't cut it any longer. The prices of used 2500 / 3500 series trucks are OUTRAGEOUS right now, although they seem to be decreasing slightly. The sad reality is that now any new vehicle will set you back. Even some of the used vehicles hold their values pretty well - talking Toyota's. What's devastating is that household incomes have not kept up with the cost of living, transportation, and the housing market. I personally wouldn't buy any domestic or German vehicle, unless I need the capacity's they have (such as towing and payload of a truck) - Toyota and Honda's I feel comfortable with because they generally hold their values much better than any other vehicle. Buying new comes with a warranty, which is one of the only benefits of getting new... other than being able to drive all the miles yourself.

Keep life simple and modest especially financially in the early years of your marriage. Especially if you're this young Because especially at this young age what you want to be focusing on is learning how to be married. Learning what it means to have a spouse, function as a unified team etc. Life is going to introduce enough stress of its own without your input. So while you're working on those early years of marriage and building the beginning of your life don't introduce potential complications that aren't necessary. Dave is right they're biting off a lot at a very young age in a very short amount of time. One of the problems with being young is that you're immune sometimes to being able to realize that you can't just do everything and be invincible to problems.

Math doesn't add up half of 90k is 45k why does he only get a 10k truck and she gets a 35k vehicle? He's asking for that just in reverse lol. Pick up some extra shifts and buy it for sure

The 2002 Chevy Truck is more fun, is becoming nostalgic and attractive as a trusty sturdy one. It's an amazing truck and 170K is fine if he's taking care of it.

170k miles isn’t that much My 2014 Silverado already has 165.5k miles and has had few issues And the 2002 is going to be more reliable cuz those 1999-2006 were extremely reliable

I agree that the caller should not pay so much for a work truck. However, Dave should do some homework on how used cars are worth now since he’s been getting a lot of car related questions. The number that’s in his head is not the same to what you can get these days.

I drove 10 minutes home from work. That's when I realized I could not buy a 30k to 50k car to drive 10 minutes. So I bought a 3k car and increased my 401K to 15%. Game on!!😂

99-2006 Chevy/GMC trucks are almost bulletproof if you take care of them. This was probably the last series of GM trucks that the average mechanically inclined person can actually work on themselves, parts are mostly cheap and widely available and these things will typically last 300k if you maintain them. The 4L60E transmissions are prone to failure after 200k but they are still relatively inexpensive to have rebuilt especially compared to the newer 8 and 10 speeds. The LS engines in these vehicles are insanely reliable. The point is, he’s already got one of the best trucks ever made. Now he wants an out of warranty F350. If it’s a diesel that’s utterly stupid. Injector job alone is 5 grand. New engine 20k. This guy doesn’t need a different truck, he wants a different truck.

I Always agree with Dave Ramsey why would you buy a Stupid Truck which in the end you will owe more money than whatever Truck is worth , with higher interests , if your finance doesn't care about saving and investing than your with the wrong person . but if you want to spend all your income don't cry in the end when you don't have any money in the end .
@ram895722 жыл бұрын
It's fine then. I won't cry for you when all of what you've tried to save is worth nothing by the time hyper inflation has eaten it all up. You can't outsave current inflation rates.
