You can see the impact of Mr. Chappelle being raised by a mother who is a professor of African-American studies. The way he weaves stories such as the one of Emitt Till and the general treatment of Americans of African descent. He is a comedian with no equal, but he is also a teacher! I have SO much respect for this man!

Coughing isn't a sickness; it's a symptomatic side-effect of a larger illness. So is addiction.

TheDangerPickle 100%! Something has to be really wrong with someone to willingly inject themselves with heroin or use crack in a desperate attempt to escape whatever is ailing them. @@continentalaquatics2725 I dont feel something has to be wrong with an individual for them to try crack or heroin because frankly a lot of very intelligent (generally artistic) people use hard drugs occasionally. Its more out of boredom, indifference or curiosity then an inability to cope. In my experience these people seldom become addicts.
@callanc39255 жыл бұрын
The thing is, a lot of heroin addiction comes from prescription opiate/opioid addiction. Once the doc cuts them off because they no longer qualify for the prescription they either have to suffer the withdrawals or get high some other way and for most people its a lot more favourable to just do some H

Coco H - For Your Further Information: WEST VIRGINIA actually has the highest death rate via opioid overdoses in the entire country. “Those who live Glass Houses shouldn’t throw stones”. {Opioid-Involved Overdose Deaths West Virginia has the highest age-adjusted rate of drug overdose deaths involving opioids. In 2017, there were 833 drug overdose deaths involving opioids in West Virginia-a rate of 49.6 deaths per 100,000 persons. This is the double the rate in 2010 and threefold higher than the national rate of 14.6 deaths per 100,000 persons. The sharpest increase in opioid involved overdose deaths was seen in cases involving synthetic opioids other than methadone (mainly fentanyl): a rise from 122 deaths in 2014 to 618 deaths in 2017 (Figure 1). Deaths involving heroin also increased significantly in the same 3-year period: from 163 to 244 deaths. Prescription opioid-involved deaths decreased by 20% from 383 in 2014 to 304 in 2017. ipsurvivor opioid crisis affects every state. Yes my state is affected the most. However it’s comedy. Quit being so sensitive. People choose to do drugs. There is help out there if they need it. In my opinion laws need to be changed. If someone is found with drugs on them and in their system. They should automatically choose a year in rehab with a year of probation. If they don’t do rehab then get 2 years in jail.
@ipsurvivor5 жыл бұрын
Coco H - Your solution of criminalizing addicts appeals to our sense of responsibility but it’s part of the problem. I’ll be as sensitive as I want to be or not... I’m just wondering why you picked the State across the river for your Heroin Zombie Apocalypse scenario instead of saying, “Yeah, I live in West Virginia, the State with the highest opioid overdose deaths”. I mean your State wins the Heroin Zombie 🧟♀️ Prize And you congratulate the runner up? That was a cheap shot winner and you know it. All you have to do is look out your window to get a front seat to the Heroin Zombie Apocalypse and you have to switch venues? Because you’re above all that?

His impersonation of the trashcan-junkie was spot on. Where I live in Vermont you can spot these critters a mile away and theres a lot of them. I watched a pregnant woman snorting pills like the was a scratch 'n sniff champion with track marks going up her arm like she wanted a sleeve. I'd find them at 3 am passed out in the bathroom needle still in the arm. It's commonplace up here to the point that local doctors and therapists just want them to OD. Not making this up, these people came in still in their work clothes, name tag and all and told me themselves in detail how they felt. Terrifying to be around.

Question is, can you laugh at jokes about it? Do you happen to have the kind of sense of humor that allows you to laugh, instead of feeling a twinge? Or worse, getting offended by it all. The ability to laugh at it is not even an acquired thing, I think. If one can't laugh at a certain topic, for personal reasons, then they just can't. I don't think they can eventually learn to laugh at that same topic. But, those people that CAN laugh, even when they have negative personal experience, that's a healthier response than getting offended.

@@callanc3925 Nancy Reagan was a first lady, whom had almost no impact on politics. Nixon declared a literally WAR on drugs, because of the crack epidemic, and, no, it was not "fabricated". It was a failed project, sure, but they sunk millions of dollars and countless hours of military manpower trying to stop it. The black community were FAR from the only ones affected by the crack epidemic. They were just affected the worst. Many, MANY of them are sick. They got addicted due to genuine sickness, either physical sickness from their doctors or mental sickness that they're trying to self medicate. Opiates create a physical dependency extremely quickly, to where you become EXTREMELY sick if you don't have the drugs. If you rely on those drugs to feel normal or work, not having them will make you lose your job, your life, everything. Not everyone on drugs is a worthless junky on the streets. Your comment just shows how little compassion there is for people suffering and how much we need to spread awareness for addiction and mental illness.
