I was there at jury duty with him last week and Monday. Very cool to say the least. David was super cool and brought some levity to the tediousness of jury duty days. I didn't get picked either . Glad it's over but definitely more memorable than it would have been without his presence.

In the 80’s I worked for Pacific Telephone and they paid for jury duty - I was always picked for the jury!

Like 70 thousand people watched a loopy old man ramble on about the most mundane thing imaginable in under two weeks. Exactly what kind of numbers do you expect for this video? You know they got hot girls touching themselves at all times on the internets, right? Young, nubile women just getting all up in there. But you think the viral sensation is gonna be crystal meth santa talking about his jury duty selection? I can't wait for the Leftterman video on the Letterman channel. Yeah, they know what I mean.

I love being a senior. People just ignore how crazy I am. But, concerned at the same time. They want to help me at the grocery store all the time. I don't know why. I can say anything outlandish and it is ok cause I'm a senior. I haven't tried the sleeping in court yet. Thats a good one.

I just qualified for the "older than 70" exemption from jury duty in Texas and I'm using it if I ever get called again. I don't need any more felony drunk driving cases with a defendant named "Bubba" (for real)

Two interrelated PSAs really, since voting and jury duty are connected. Juror lists in many states are taken from voter rolls, so occasionally you meet people who don't vote because they don't want jury duty, which is a shame.

Once, I had to appear for the voir dire (as some would say). It was for a traffic accident case. As the lawyers were presenting the witnesses, they asked: "Does anyone know this man?". "Hi, Pete.", I said. Pete and I had gone to high school together. "Do you think you can take his testimony at face value, without prejudice?" "Yes.", I replied, honestly. "Pete and I knew each other, but we hung out in different circles." They let me pass. "This is the next witness, does anyone know this man?" "Hi, Mr. Sandstrom.", I said. He was the principal at our high school. Both attorneys rolled their eyes. "We ask that this juror be excused.", They said. And the judge, not seeing the comedic value of letting me see who was up next, dismissed me. I never did find out what Pete and Mr. Sandstrom were up to that fateful day...

I've found that it's quite easy to get thrown off of a jury panel once I've sized up what the case is about and brainstormed what to say during 🛎 *voir dire* 🛎 in order to get either set of opposing counsels (and sometimes both) to tell the judge that they don't want me to have anything to do with weighing up and ruling on their case
