I like DG and I'm sort of a fanboy and I'm a even bigger fan of the 335. I'm intrigued and looking forward to this release. BUT...I'm not going to pay $1800 CDN for a Epiphone 335.

They can do this for $700 or under. That's how much the 1959 Les Paul cost but it's gone up to $1,000 unfortunately. The '59 is a GREAT guitar! I play that guitar more than I do my Gibson Les Paul.

All the other signature semi hollows are around $800-1,000 so I'm expecting around that. The cheapest Epi 335s are around $700, but there's always an artist markup of a hundred or two. I can't see this thing being $1800 though!

@@mikeomatic9905it’s gonna be. Look at the LP signatures’ prices for the most recent releases- some are still around $799, but those are mostly older releases. Look at the newer Signature releases. Sadly, this DG-335 is gonna be $1799-$1999 at minimum when you compare to the newer pricing. Of course, none of these signatures should be topping $1000 or $1100 tops even in this economy, not only as an Epiphone (which is supposed to be an AFFORDABLE brand). It’s price gouging, and it’s a horrible thing to do to longtime Epiphone customers who’ve now been outpriced of a brand that is supposed to be affordable. And honestly, there’s no reason they can’t sell this guitar that’s made at a much lower cost in China for around $799-$899, even with a hard shell included. The problem is, Gibson is trying to sell these signature models as “collector items” rather than for actual musicians, and it’s both sad and depressing at the same time. They’re trying to attract the cork sniffer Gibson people who are hoping it will go up in value someday in the future. They don’t make enough already?! I know prices went up during the pandemic due to supply and demand issues. People bought at steep prices because they had nothing better to do at home. It doesn’t mean the larger customer base is able to afford it just because some people temporarily did that. When the pandemic ended and supply/shipping issues went bye bye, prices should have dropped, not risen. While I keep wanting to be hopeful that my super hero Dave will have told Gibson to keep the Epiphone price as low as possible, it’s really not likely because Gibson is not going to give up on an opportunity to sell guitars that people have been clambering to own for YEARS at a higher profit margin.

No matter how low the price will be, my wife ain't gonna allow to have one... on a different subject, I miss the guys shooting their videos in the shop. Their new studio hasn't grown on me. Probably needs more character than a plain background lit with a floodlight.

@allenmitchell09

If I’m going to buy something like say a silver sky, I want it to be a lefty model. Yeah we know you can do it like Jimi but for one the strap button may need moving, now you’ve lost all of your side dots they’re on the bottom now, and in the case of a strat in particular, the control knobs couldn’t be in a worse location for the lefty player, not to mention the input cable in your armpit. If you’re doing it for the music and not a visual, you want a functioning instrument. So, that’s why I hold out on these trend guitars and play my awesome lefty tele and the rest of my stable. By the way I love Jimi Hendrix to death, I’m not knocking him using that strat that way, I don’t think lefty model were scarcely attainable and he used what he could get ahold of. He played a lefty Flying V too so…

@georgeprice4212 obviously you could do that but they could also make it left handed as well. I understand that way more people are right handed. But atleast give a option to order one left handed even if it means extra cost or wait time.

So… some thoughts on your new studio setup. I think you two need to sit the same distance from each other as the previous room. AND I think the wide shot needs to be tighter. Part of the charm of your channel is feeling like we (the viewers) are sitting in a room and hanging with you guys while you talk music. The new setup feels less intimate and more like you’re on a stage. It’s like the difference between hanging out in someone’s cool cozy den (old room) vs hanging out in the living room of a house they just moved into and they don’t have furniture yet (new room).

A DG-335 with Gibson Burstbuckers should be 1300 tops. And even that's crazy. It's a solid finish so they don't have to be so selective about the woods like on the Korina Explorer and V, or the Bonamassa SG.
@rocktorrocks

Agreed. The Bonamassa ES-335 for $1300 came with Gibson pickups so I’d expect something similar for the DG-335.

Really want this one. The Bonamassa ES-335 listed for $1300 and that’s probably the closest thing to what this will be. I’d consider paying $1300-1400 if it has Gibson pickups included. If it only has probuckers then $1100 might be my upper limit. Knowing Epiphone and all the price increases recently, I’m gonna assume this will be $1500 at least.

$999 would be my ideal price point for this guitar. They’d sell them by the bunches at that price. $1299 would be the reasonable price in my opinion if it includes Gibson pickups and a hard case.

I was just playing my PRS HOLLOWBODY II and can't believe how good it sounds and plays. Even with light strings and going used even though I suspect it was just a return and I got it for $749. The charcoal burst looks amazing and the pickups sound great. Even though the neck is big it plays easily somehow. But I'd never pay full price for it. I think PRS nailed the price on the new CE 24 and others. My point is the pricing on these imports and domestic guitars is so confusing and mixed up the last couple years. No matter what brand.

0:40 how... how did you know my name???😨 I've been waiting for this for a *LONG* time. Can't wait to see what these list for, and I'm still hoping we get a Gibson USA production run of the DG335 as well! As far as price goes for the Epiphone, it looks like their two main price points for the artist models are 899 and 1299, with the latter usually featuring upgraded pickups/electronics. That said, I fully expect Epiphone to be cashing in on the huge demand for this model, and marking up the price accordingly.

Epiphone inspired by Gibson 335 is between five and $600 and some change the Emily Wolf Sheridan and that’s around nine her bucks. My prediction is this guitar is gonna be around $1100. Why does the name association have to make the price so much higher? How much would they charge for it if they just made it part of their lineup? They would probably be sub $1000, and they would sell a ton of them, because it's a cool guitar. I even see the point of them involving Dave since he popularized the model, but it isn't necessary, because the model preexisted DG's popularity. It certainly isn't necessary if it doubles the pricetag. I really like the guitar, but I actually don't particularly like the Foo Fighters' music.

Epiphone should be careful with pricing these. Yes it's a signature, but you shouldn't be pricing an Epiphone like a Gibson. Most of the fans wanting these won't pay some crazy price cuz they don't have it. Absolute most it could go for is like 1200 and even then that's still really pushing it for an Epiphone. I wouldn't pay 1200. The Emily Wolfe is already very similar and hers is already overpriced.

This is a very special guitar that will only look good in the hands of a tall person like Dave. Keep in mind that the guitar must suit the artist, including visually. Not just sound and convenience. You have to look in the mirror what it looks like in your hands. I know a lot of guitarists who have bought their dream guitars, but when they pick them up, they look ridiculous with them. It's the same as choosing glasses frames for your face. Some frame/guitar shapes can visually hide your fatness or thinness or other things, but other shapes will make it worse. You cannot choose glasses frames by yourself, only from a catalogue. You must place it on your face. It's the same with the guitar. There are many guitars that I would like to buy, but I know that I won't look good with this one, so I settled on other models that blend in with my appearance. That's it, man, it's not that simple

his guitar is only worth it for the simp PJ fans that still convince themselves that the band is still relevant. Otherwise, a 60's Road Worn Strat will get you the same thing for much less. The Cobain Road Worn Jag from 2011-2013 relic job blows this one out of the water as far as accuracy and detail.That guitar is essentially a Custom Shop from Mexico. The McCready can't hold a candle to that guitar, but they also couldn't be too good on this general release version, because some dummies paid $10k for the 60 piece Custom Shop version that now resells for $22-25k.

My recent experiences are just the opposite. I have the 59 Les Paul and the Inspired by Gibson Firebird and they are both fantastic guitars. The arrived perfect. The setups were almost perfect. Great fretwork on both of them. They play great and sound fantastic. I’ve had so many compliments on both of them at gigs. I had sold my Gibsons about 10 years ago because I was disappointed with the quality. I own quite a few guitars made in both the USA and in different overseas locations and Mexico. Epiphone has really stepped up their game recently from my experience. Obviously we all have different experiences.

I can get an Epiphone '59 Les Paul reissue brand new for $999 and it has Gibson Burstbuckers in it, wiring and an orange cap. Any more than that and it's a pass like the Bonamassa SG. That SG has Probuckers in it that cost $30 a pop. I think $900 is the max I'd pay and that's pushing it unless it has Gibson wiring and pickups in it, then I'd pay the premium for the name on it. If not, Epiphone can kick rocks. The McCready was a bad comparison. That's a Fender not a Squier. You can compare the price of the McCready to the Gibson Grohl.

My favorite thing about this guitar is you have to prove your updated vaccination status in order to purchase one. Grohl is a ghoul. No thanks

This is why Epiphone is now a no-go, signature model or not, if it's over $1,000,forget it😮😮😮 Epiphones are supposed to be an affordable alternative and slowly but surely, Gibsons corporate GREED is ruining Epiphone 😢😢😢
