I agree that Grohl should be a big influence on young kids today who dream to become big rockstars (just like i wish) and I hope more kids will go Grohl's way instead of say, Minaj's way. 😐😐😐…okay. I’ve loved Dave since the days of Nirvana. Love him in the Foo Fighters. Have always known him to be a badass drummer, guitarist, lead singer and songwriter. But THIS!?!? I had no clue Dave possessed this level of talent!!! This is prodigy level!!! From my understanding he has to record each instrument separately with no “click track” or previous recording to go off of. So he literally sat at the drums and had to play the entire song through on one take, remember all 20 minutes, then move to the next instrument and repeat, than repeat, until he nailed the song on all the instruments than edited the video all in one. GENIUS!!!!!!! Dave Grohl is a legend and an absolute master at his craft!! Amazing!!! This seriously blew me away!!! 🔥🔥🔥

You know.. this song transmitted me determination.. most of us expected a super heavy prog rock song with the craziest interludes, bridges, Ups and Downs, etc.. but that was never the intention of PLAY.. PLAY is about grabbing some instruments, letting your mind set free and just Play it for the love of Music.. dedicate the time is meant to be taken for every section.. dedication.. determination.. progress.. perseverance.. all of these can be found here, and I really thank Dave and his crew for this inspirational gift :)

I bought this in a record shop off the presumption that “if it’s Dave Grohl it’s probably gonna rock” and boy when I put the needle on it and let it play, I was NOT disappointed! Plus the record came with a stage plot and official mic input list of this session which I appreciate as a musician myself. I’m rambling at this point, but I just wanna say I feel so blessed to be living on earth at the same time as this man.

MorbidManMusic Dave is a mastermind at writing hit music, the others most certainly do not have the song writing ability that he has. Otherwise they’d be the leader of the foo fighters.
@flohardy20006 жыл бұрын
MorbidManMusic the others are just as good as him probably, especially Taylor, but I mean he's just the mastermind behind the Foo Fighters sound. And yeah of course he takes the biggest role when it comes to songwriting because it's HIS band. He started this band alone and wrote some stuff, he just needed other musicians to perform the songs.

Some 7 ft. tall old politician guy on bass and another cat on guitar. I don't know where he finds these people but it's evident that when you run out of guys to play with you clone yourself. That's what that great big machine on the desk with all the knobs and meters is for . It's a cloning device. Only in Seattle with all them Eggheads. Then you have a go at a Rush sized instrumental just to see which one of the clones will break down first.

Every single time I'm like "OK I think I got enough...", it changes yet to another section that's so different and interesting I got to listen to the whole thing. This is a lesson for all composers of long instrumental pieces of any genres. Repeat yourself too much - or don't enough variations - and it's boring. Not with Dave. If you're like Dave, at the very moment the people start to think they'll get bored, you switch things upside-down and surprise them. What a fucking masterpiece. Dave continues to stay relevant...to non-musicians this seems like a magical trick, but to the musicians out there, playing other instruments is common. What Dave does here is compose interesting music. Many can play multiple instruments, but composing is another matter. Dave has SO much experience composing and creating, he never over plays anything here...this is what makes it so unified and sensible. He understands SONG structure...there is no ego here. It would be SO easy to go off playing crazy complex drum stuff...he never does...plays pocket and groove!

Really? I found this to be excessive and uninteresting. It's like an ADHD child locked in a room. There's no point to it, it has no overarching theme, it lacks nuance, it's poorly composed and it's just Dave Bonham doing the same old schtick with some bells and whistles and two rhythm guitar tracks pretending to do something resembling a composition. It's boring as fuck, honestly.
