Axl Rose isn't racist.. he even has a black dude in his band as a drummer... his favourite singer is gay (Freddie Mercury) and even sang with Elton John. That song is the way he feels about immagration, he was young and naive back then!

btowel Guns N Roses were bigger than Foo Fighters were/are. Besides had Guns N Roses been radio friendly like the Foo Fighters they would have more "hits"
@Aqua.man0459 жыл бұрын
Are kidding me? Guns N' Roses are more radio friendly. The had a number 1 one hit song in 1988 on the pop charts. Foo Fighters haven't had one enter the top 10 since 1999.
@sebsidnell17169 жыл бұрын
Guns N Roses had explicit or violent lyrics in the vast majority of their songs and many of their best songs are too long for radio
@Aqua.man0459 жыл бұрын
Seb Sidnell Not really. They can censor songs that have curse words and edit ones that are too long, but you probably don't know about that technology.
@sebsidnell17169 жыл бұрын
Pretty tied up, One in a million, get in the ring, My michelle, used to love her, back off bitch, double talkin jive. All incredibly difficult to censor, most impossible. If you edited down estranged, coma, breakdown then you may aswell not have the song, wouldn't work at all

@cierra72469 жыл бұрын
Seb Sidnell Haha okay. Dave Grohl breaks his leg mid-show and comes back to finish that show the same day, goes out drinking with a group of mine workers who were fans and trapped underground for weeks, donates money and time to special causes, helps a struggling mother pay for her college tuition because he overheard her talking about her financial struggles in a diner, but ya know he's a fake asshole. What are you, a die-hard Buzz fan? Give it a rest m8.
@sebsidnell17169 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry did I say he was a bad person? I'm referring to his being the biggest fan of every star on the planet attitude. We know all of Axl's demons, he only knows honesty.

Being nice to everyone is phony. That's fine, it's smart for your career and avoids conflict. But that makes the title of that song more fitting to Dave than Axl
@cierra72469 жыл бұрын
Seb Sidnell Dude, it's his personality. He's been nice to everyone since way before he was famous. He's literally just a nice guy, no phoniness. And are you kidding me? Axl's a huge fucking fake. He treated Kurt like shit the whole time he knew about him and then after he died put on a goddamn Nirvana shirt and started talking about how he was such an inspiration like that would change something. If that isn't fake I don't know what is. And Dave doesn't always avoid conflict btw. He stood up against Courtney when she was running her mouth.

in that song Axl was literally singing about how he felt. artists tend to sing about shit in their lives and that's what axl did, the content of the song was from axls experience in l.a, being kicked out of stores for no reason by immigrents then because of how he looked, the police part comes from his life in Indiana, if you read Duff's book he backs Axl on this song. if someone were to write a song with this content now, I can bet the backlash would be much less severe.

also Kurt and Nirvana were grunge, grunge was anti-establishment, at that point GN' R were the biggest band on the planet, and, to kurt, were the establishment, so he did as he should, he insulted the establishment (and gained A LOT of publicity for it) as much as Kurt made it out to be that he hated the fame, I doubt that. his actions speak other wise. Izzy from Guns hated fame and publicity to, his actions speak much closer to that state of mind.

@09rja By this point I think I'm able to agree with you. You're right in saying that there aren't any guitar gods anymore, and also saying that Dave is more suited to drums than he is to guitar is true. You may disagree with me here, but Matt Bellamy of Muse could be considered a god, but that's debatable. I think that with the recent decline in 3 piece bands though, I'm happy to see anyone pick up a guitar and smash away at it (even if its not sophisticated), just as long as its not bad pop...

Axl asked Nirvana to do warm up for them - to do warm up for a "big rock stars", the one that Kurt and Nirvana hated most. It was cheeky from GnR to do that when Nirvana was already famous enough, they didn't needed to do warm ups. then they started to say jokes about them, and then there was that famous argument called "will you be godfather of our child"... But you have to admit, that it was cowardly from Duff to stay in front of Krist with three bodyguards and say "i wanna have fight".

@The13thflower there isn't a big difference between Portuguese spoken in Portugal or in Africa or America. Grammatically it is the same, although you have some differences in writing a few words. I say a few and I'm right, I' m comparing hundreds with hundreds of thousands! The differences, as you said, are at speech level, I mean different accents, THAT doesn't make a language different, you need much more than that. (Cont.)

I just wasn't sure how Nirvana "surpassed" GNR?

@sweetfly66 I see you don´t get me...I´m gonna explain it in a different way, look: I do think that musical complexity is the benchmark for what is good, but that doesn´t mean that simple songs are bad, in fact, a few of the most known songs in history are truly simple, and I really like many of them(knockin on heavens door, louie louie, etc...).It´s just that I personally prefer more complex songs. And I do have a lot to learn, that´s for sure, but I´d say you have even more to learn than me.

Thing is, Kurt/Courtney initiated each incident. Kurt could have respectfully declined the invitation, but instead publicly bashed the band after they tried to help kickstart his music career. And then, Courtney sarcastically asked Axl to be Frances' godfather, and things just went off from there. Axl has made mistakes throughout his life, but I think his handling with Kurt was not his fault and would have never came to part if Kurt hadn't been so immature.

Axl will never apologise, I do agree with you he's an asshole. But he is one amazing singer/poet and he knows it and uses it to his advantage by not taking shit from anyone. Rose grew up pretty rough too, he had been drinking heavily, taking drugs, he's been depressed too, but he never really complained about it, he wasn't weak like Kurt. People think all rockstars are suicidal thanks to Kurt.
@stonerh13 жыл бұрын
@TheWittyChappy Well, Foo Fighters yeah, I'd agree with that, but not Nirvana.. Nevermind was their Appetite. Their other two albums didn't have the success of Nevermind. Guns had both the number one and number two spot on the album charts with the UYI's, first band to do so since the Beatles.. so I wouldn't just say it was off one album. But the Foo's have had enough albums now to establish a consistent success.
