Timeless samba-jazz. First time I've heard was in 1989 in Brazil. I went to London in 95 and one of the first CDs I've bought was from Dave Grusin, and then Basia.

This song: She Could be mine is the beginning of my love to jazz music. By the year of 1982 I fell in love with the music of the Soul; the Jazz . Specially with this wonderful composition. ! Thanks Sir Dave Grusin for this joy.

From Dave Grusin's "Out of the Shadows" album of 1982. I was graduating from high school when this came out. Sooooooo goooood!!! Also, a once-famous soap opera, "The Edge of Night" was in the late years of its TV run at that time. An episode had a formal gathering scene where this was played in the background. Then again, Dave Grusin's music has never been foreign to TV. He's scored some of the all-time best theme songs!

@anthonybrooks5040 Dave Grusin's music has always been a fixture in both the movies and on TV. I remember "The Edge of Night,' a once famous soap opera that aired for many years on CBS before moving to ABC in it's later years.

@@willardlockejr2965 two of my favorite TV theme songs were from Dave Grusin, "The Name of the Game" and "It Takes a Thief". Both have been supercool from the start!
@willardlockejr29656 ай бұрын
@@anthonybrooks5040 Both "It Takes A Thief" and "The Name Of The Game" are still favorites of mine that was composed by Dave Grusin. When I got older, his name became familiar from his film scores like "Tootsie," "The Firm," "On Golden Pond" and of course TV's "St. Elsewhere" in the 80's. Grusin has released many solo albums since the late 70's and has played with with the likes of Tom Browne, Marcus Miller, Branford Marsalis, Tom Scott, Quincy Jones, Grover Washington, Jr. and so many more. I'm surprised that he's never won an Oscar for any of his movies for the big screen.

@@willardlockejr2965 it's a darn shame too. Of all the "Columbo" episodes, Dave Grusin did the music for one: the first, "Prescription: Murder" in 1967. In my opinion, his score was slightly ahead of its time and that's possibly why Universal switched over to the likes of Bernardo Segall, Billy Goldenberg and others for the rest of the series' run.
