Dave Kinsman (Ill Wind) Interview (7/21/24)

Dave Kinsman is an American musician who was the drummer in the Boston based band Ill Wind. The band’s original members were Ken Frankel (guitar), Richard Griggs (rhythm guitar), Carey Mann (bass), Judy Bradbury (vocals) and Dave on drums. During their time together the band was quite popular playing the college and teen dance circuit in both New England and New York City. Back in the day the band could be seen playing regularly at the legendary ballroom The Boston Tea Party. Ill Wind would survive in different lineups from 1966 to 1973 and would release a couple of singles and one album, 1968’s Flashes. Starting out playing folk, rock and bluegrass numbers, the band would eventually incorporate psychedelic and blues influences. And over the years Ill Wind would open shows for artists like The Who, Fleetwood Mac, The Byrds and Van Morrison.
