This is great! I knew the Viceroys well. I was in bands that played the NW dance circuit. I first saw Jim with the Viceroys at the old White Center Roller rink, must have been '63. Jim was decent, but the best thing about Jim was his stage presence. He was always grinning!

Add New Zealand listeners too, I was going through my vinyl today and came across Stu's album. I decided to look up if he had another album and came across this interview. I had no idea about his hearing loss.I'm 71 and seeing the album brought back lots of great memories. Listening to it again I can remember where I was at that moment in time.Thank you.

Thoroughly enjoyed! Im compelled now to provide my thoughts on The New Colony Six: Im 71. Huge 60s music fan collector researcher. 70-80s too. I have created my hand picked Itunes Library. In Miami wfun wqam did not play NC6 as i do not remember. Early 2000s i saw a WLS chart: NC6 Things Id Like To Say. I got it off limewire. Yrs went by. 4 mo ago i took a second look. How could songs be 1-2-4-6-10 etc on wls wcfl but never chart on AT40??? Impossible. Its not possible. The ears of the midwest were different? NO. My guess……lack of natl airplay. They were a Super Group that never realized greatness deserved. Im honestly stunned. Here are 15 songs that at a minimum shoulda been Top 20 (no particular order): Come and give your love to me Last nite Let me love you I and you Cant you see me cry I confess I lie awake The power of love I love you so much Youre gonna be mine Things id like to say We will love again Im just waitin Time of the year is sunset Youre gonna be mine Dont you think its time you stopped your cyring *all……ALL are garage pop psyche sunshine. Love!!! Thankyou Ray…..an old dog has learned new tricks! Wow PS: in my research i see nothing of Les Kummel s 1978 car accident? PS 2: i use a book called: Across The Charts The 1960s

Very trying time in my life right now, tominnc315 (& palebloomsandbeyond) so truly was moved by your note and felt compelled this morning to thank you both publicly, so - THANK YOU BOTH! Re Les's loss of life, I was obviously not present, but this is what I had been told decades ago and given my source as rarely inaccurate, it has been my belief it happened that way, so, perhaps family and friends chose to keep it personal or perhaps what I was told was incorrect, but I know no other version to share than that one. On a more uplifting side, I was absolutely enthralled to read that you did the research, listened to our music and wrote such a glowing report here - truly needed some smiles this morning and you surely provided those and, of course, the excitement of the invitation to share all this with the interviewer, well, what a tremendous gift that was too. Blessings to the two of you and all others who still hold some level of respect for New Colony Six. Final note is to suggest you check out a subsequent CD release after Chic, Craig and I had all left the Colony - them permanently but me temporarily. I did some solo work and additional things with my super-talented brother, Ron Graffia (stuff from him up here too but may be under pseudonyms...), and through extreme perseverance and dedication from a rock historian who is like a brother to me and knows more about NC6 by far than even I do, Jerry Schollenberger enabled said CD, entitled SIDES, to be released. It covers most of that material, and I was and AM especially happy for The RJM Band's recorded songs (AKA Raymond John Michael) to be placed out there. We did release two singles but my lifelong belief in the strength of NC6 management to have some say regarding, even if not control of the airwaves here when those were offered, led to little or no success for RJM, other than in live performances where we did very well and at the time had more NC6 founders in RJM than did NC6! Sorry for going on and on and on but once I got started, I felt compelled to try finishing... which I shall do next! At one point that entire CD was posted on KZbin but could not find it just now so check your sources - rare NC6 tunes, wonderful & extensive booklet and essentially the entirety of RJM's recordings if memory serves this morning! Blessings to the two of you and all others who cared and maybe even still CARE about New Colony Six... 🙏✝☮🤗♥🙋

What a cool interview! We love Harpo -- he is well regarded and respected and indeed famous in my large music circle. He looks great, and he's still got great hair! My daughter actually found an old poster out of 16 Magazine of Jim that says "Get Well Harpo" -- not quite sure what that meant at the time but it's framed and hanging in my den. Thank you so much for posting this great interview. Best wishes to you both.

Just found this interview, Beside Ton's solo music and his music with Kayak, fans should listen to the many Jeugdtheater Hofplein musicals that he recently posted on you tube. The music is highly creative, original and beautiful. For me the more times I listen to a composition by Ton the better it gets. I think that this is the mark of a musical genius and Ton is definitely that. Looking forward to Ton's future compositions.

As I Went Over Blackwater is one of my favourite records. Wonderful to hear this interview to clear up some of mysteries surrounding the album as there isn't a lot written about it that I can find on line. When Mick mentioned that luck was one of the most important factors in success, I feel he was unlucky when these first few records didn't get a little more recognition. I will pop open a few beers this evening and sing along loudly to The Guerrier and the Constitution!
