Agreed. I still prefer the Lillywhite version to the one they actually released. For some weird reason since some time around 2008 they dropped the whole second stanza when they play live. I always said I would ask them why if I ever met them.

@@christinacdc1989 The ever changing lyrics in live performances are one of the reasons I have loved this band for so long. When I started trading tapes in the 90's the most popular ones had tons of Dave speak or versions where he changed the lyrics.

i Love DMB how thy are now and how the alway were and will be, but here is one thing that i miss. I love Rashawn and Timmy but with them and even jeff's pumped up sax i feel they overpower alot of songs and lose alot of daves emotional lyrics and the bands all around signiture sound. Dont get me wrong I still love DMB and Big-Whiskey but a big portion of the bands mello-greatness was lost a couple years ago, RIP The Gru-Grux King

Ha yeah this is back when he first started playing taylors, so he's playing some of the (relatively) cheaper models (700) now he plays the 900s which go for like $4 grand+ easily. This video is such a blast from the past - Stefan using wedges, butch, carter's old kit.... I love this band xfd

the longer a song is, the less numbers you can hit at a gig. my guess: they don't normally play the extended version, but rather the 2 verse version to fit in other songs in the line up for the crowd.

This was before the final version of the song appeared on Busted Stuff. It was when the Lillywhite Sessions were kicking around and they were "road testing" this, Sweet Up and Down, Bartender, JTR, etc. Saw them in Buffalo on this tour. Heard Grey Street for the first time that night and it changed my life.

meh this isn't really correct at all. actually they dropped the 3rd verse because DMB played on Letterman and had to truncate the song due to time constraints for TV. afterwards, Dave preferred the shorter version so it stuck.

Actually the answer was in fact correct. The studio version we know now, which is what you are talking about, was released in 2002. Then the 3rd verse was dropped on Letterman later that year in Dec. 02' to what we know of today. This version was when it still had unset lyrics and had the 3rd verse and extra chorus.

not quite mate, if you stuck 2 strings per knob then there is very little chance that they would retain the same tension therefore the paired effect of the 12 string is lost.
