Aunt stands up gives thumbs up. Security dragged stage diver outta there. Cause the way the stage and where we was at was pretty far. Me and Aunt and others was like he's gotta be on crack. That's awesome! i had something similar happen at a show at the filmore in Denver a while back. i was super sick with a flu, but decided to take tons of medicine and go anyway. i think it was the last Gigantour... tour. still wasn't feeling great by the time Megadeth came on and decided to have a couple beers to numb up a little more as i never miss a Megadeth pit. which worked... for a while. was in the pit during Holy Wars when my stomach (liver) started giving me massive sharp pains. i doubled over and started holding my side and limping away pitifully and i saw him staring at me with a really concerned look on his face. i think he saw me crumple even though no one touched me. i had to give him a thumbs up and smile to kinda say "It's okay, i'm just a dumbass". but i've never seen anyone from a stage be so genuinely concerned about random person in the crowd. especially while playing, singing and putting on one hell of a performance! that's insane when you think about it. how much he had going through his mind, the fact that he even noticed is just above. i have no doubt he would've directed security towards me, even stopping the finale song to do so if it was necessary.
@robbhotdog30545 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. The first time I saw Megadeth I was so surprised at how nice he spoke between songs. Telling the crowd how nice it is to see their smiling faces, and genuinely thanking all for showing up. Then goes into Black Friday. I was like "Damn He is cool".

Good man, well done Dave. Great bands care about their audience and are in the best seat in the house to see what's going on in front of the stage. I once saw Craig Adams, bassist of The Mission stop a show in Bristol, England, because security were unnecessarily heavy, laying in to some long term fans who were bouncing around in the mosh pit in front of the stage. A bit boisterous yeah, but pretty standard at any Mission gig in the UK and nothing you'd not see at any metal gig. Craig told the security guy straight up that if he saw him "touch another of our fans, I'll come down there myself and beat the shit out of you myself". F*cking epic, good man. Oddly enough, security got on with doing their jobs properly after that, when they realised it wasn't an Arianna Grande gig.

@@sainandanramakrishnan4812 Obviously not, but they're a part of the equation - you can't really be considered "Thinking Man's Metal" if you have unintelligent or simplistic lyrics. And James' and Lars' brilliant songwriting and arranging talents are also a reflection of their intelligence.
@sainandanramakrishnan48125 жыл бұрын
@@hinjurock Except that being a thinking man's metal band really doesn't have anything to do with the intelligence of the players themselves. Its a lot more aligned with how intelligent the presentation of the message is through the song and how smartly composed the musical passages themselves are, so much so that a dumb listener cannot possibly uncover all the positive aspects about the song. Mustaine's use of metaphors and figure of speeches in the lyrics that pertain to realistic subjects are second to none, you actually need to realize what's going around you to understand the full depth of his message. Not to mention, a casual, unequipped listener would EASILY overlook and fail to appreciate a good bulk of intricacies that make finished Megadeth passages amazing to listen to, because there is just SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING BUZZ going on musicianship-wise compared to straight-forward Metallica songs ( a.l.a the genius switching rhythm section underneath Rust In Peace, Youthanasia and Countdown To Extinction solos which first-time listeners hardly pay attention to because they are already overwhelmed by the solo ). Hence, the aptly coined phrased 'Thinking Man's Metal Band', which they were referred to as early as 1988.

Dave: "We've never followed trends." Risk: " Am I a joke to you?"
@atsz.5 жыл бұрын
I think that had more to do with trying to keep Marty in the band
@fpsqt4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was just about going to comment that. Even Youthanasia, a damn great album, was a change in direction trying to fit to trends. I'd say on Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings and Risk, Dave DID try to fit into a new trend of more "mainstream metal", then when Marty left the band and maybe when Dave realized he could never top Metallica in this "mainstream metal" area, he thought "ah, the hell with it, let it go".
@shawnrurodenm36404 жыл бұрын
What trend? Writing radio safe doesn't always mean fad following or trending. Ok, even Dave was disappointed with RISK but I don't remember an emo screamo drop beat. I didn't see any Megadeth albums without guitar solos like the late grunge post grunge slack rock punk pop. Oh, did you think Dave should have wrote music to suite your tastes... Lol, that would be exactly the instance you are mocking him for now. See, I am an older metal fan myself, and back in the early to mid eighties other fans would call a person a poser if the bands they liked even looked at a make up kit. I was even judgemental to some extent. I had a couple friend get cornered at a show in Lawrence MA for being "posers" for not liking the terrible opening act for UFS Afterbirth. Selling out is doing anything you are not in agreement of and or control of. Many folk have said the S-word with Metallica. Not true my friend, they totally were in control of what they were doing and were in agreement of their decision. If they were to make music for your liking, they might not be fully on board and that would make them posers. Megadeth has been great at what they do, and if not.... Dave has certainly done a fantastic job bullshitting everyone to make the populous believe it to be true. I'm a fan although I don't like every single song. So lighten up or you to may be ensnared in the same poser trap that you yourself had set. It happens, and it usually starts with fault finding and trolling. Have a nice day.

megadeth has been a big part of my life . especially when I came into my teenage years and peace sells but who's buying was out abd they were coming with so far so good so what . but I remember me and a friend of mine we used to trade out tapes that we had and my buddy gave me the peace sells but who's buying tape and I played that tape so much until that shit just feel apart . and then I remember going out and buying the rust in peace tape and it was just a fuckin addiction to megadeth from that point on . I like metallica too and its a blessing that us old schoolers got to grow up with these guys and its been an inspiration to me . I started playing guitars and was in a metal band and dave mustaine was one of my main influences. but I went through some rough times the past 2 months but its really taught me alot and its taught me to refocus on life and get back to playing my guitar and pick up positive attitude instead of relying on some drug to satisfy me . may we have megadeth forever

This guy is responsible of maybe 80% of all the guitar playing in extreme metal today, responsable of all the technical Thrash wave of the 80's and is a true legend, like him or not. He's a pure influence to the music we love.

Yeah, him, James Hetfield, Scott Ian/Charlie Benante, and Gary Holt/Rick Hunolt. Dave didn't single-handedly create thrash metal. He co-wrote four songs on Kill 'Em All.

I didn't realize how much this band helped me with emotion during school. Even inspired me to learn guitar myself after the first time I listened to the song hangar 18 and I'm honestly I'm somewhat good (still trash). Starting on acoustic and the first time I did a riff it felt like I couldn't stop smiling for an hour straight. One of my favorite bands.

I can understand how Dave felt after being booted from Metallica but in my opinion, I think it is the fans who truly believed Dave pulled it off with all the success in Megadeth. Sure he wanted to top Metallica but in the end I think it's the Fans' opinion that matters most. Dave you accomplished what you set out to do whether you realize it or not.

Hearing him saying he wants to pass away at the same time as his wife made me cry. He's only human and I love that he shows this side of him. I'm only 44 but I have been thinking about this lately, as I was investigating some health issues. And my only concern was how would my husband get over if anything happened to me. "We never tried to follow trends." This is the guy who did Risk...
@cfxmishmash10514 жыл бұрын
First off risk was an exploratory album of personal growth not a trend just like metallicas load and reload albums i actually liked risk it was more of a play on words and expressionism if you will. Being a musician myself i find it very hard to comprehend how narrow minded some minds can be
@FormerHumanX4 жыл бұрын
@@cfxmishmash1051 Exploratory album of personal growth? You're completely wrong. Dann Huff, the producer, specifically laid out how to compose the album to get radio play. Mustaine wrote "Crush Em" because he hoped it would get played by sports teams and the band would make a lot of money on royalties. Risk was a sellout 100% and the fans knew it.
@lemarcmty4 жыл бұрын
@@FormerHumanX are you cherry picking?, because he also said "never listen to people you dont trust" and never trust people you dont know" Also he named that album "risk" precisely for that reason, it was a risk.

I don't think Dave is Megadeth. In his earlier interviews he says that once Nick and marty joined with ellefson and him that they were each able to hold their own and add to the band instead of Dave and junior being leaders. Megadeth is great because they change people and style changes with that. Metallica has had the same guitar playing and drums for a while. The same style. While with Megadeth each person contributes to Megadeth. Without Dave there is no Megadeth but without junior or Nick or kiko and marty or gar and dirk there is also no megadeth
