nah it definitely was it's just they're trying to hear the piano and are probably drawn in by what he's saying. some artists aren't sing-a-long but more listen and soak in what they're saying... it's kinda like a live poetry session but with piano... it's courteous to be quiet when someone is speaking their poetry like dave is and you can click ur fingers to show appreciation (like in a poetry slam) and then you clap at the end like the crowd did, they cheered really loud for him. some of dave's more upbeat songs the crowd 100% sing to and go crazy for but the more quiet ones you just drink in the atmosphere u know?
