Two of the nicest people on the planet, back in the day mixing & mastering was done in the dark & it was really rare that someone showed you ANYTHING. You younger guys have it made today as far as knowledge being freely offered to you don't take it for granted ever.

You guys, are both, the only guys I faithfully watch to get tips on how to be a better mix engineer. Congratulations on making this great contact. Dave Pensado continues to amaze me at his willingness to share and encourage those that are in the game and just getting started in the business. Awesome interview!

This is one of the best videos I've seen about the inside of mixing. It also reinforces a number of things I've been facing lately, especially multi and compression and working on my own compositions vs. someone else's. Great video as usual, many thanks to both of these guys for taking the time to help others.

@29:35 DING DING DING!!!! I am one of those guys Dave is referring to. I REALLY get the urge to just hand my stuff off to someone more experienced with mixing/mastering etc... Some days I am foolishly thinking I can just find a few techniques or plugins that will turn my sh*t to gold... and some days I just want to give up; write it, record it, HAND IT OFF BABY! :-p Great stuff Graham, thanks guys!

Dave Pensado is a living legend. any time I feel stuck somewhere in a mix I look for anything he has to say about it, and then like he usually suggests go back to the lab and do it my way. I think what I like most about him is he doesn't impose rules on you he shares principles leaving you wiser than when you came. Dave is another one cut from the same cloth. I built my home studio with his advice.
@101AOK11 жыл бұрын
Yes this is nice to see. Dave has a grasp on NOT just the profession itself, but as important, a grasp on treating others who try and instruct, a feeling of worth and respect many at HIS level tend to start BLOWING OFF the younger instructor/host. This is very important. Dave, we DO see this and appreciate your brotherhood.

At 21:03, I'm SO glad he interrupted. Not that Graham isn't great to listen to :), but the analogy between music & photography ... "just take the picture." 'just trying to take better and better pictures." Learning more and more as you progress. This is incredibly inspiring! Just make the music we love to make, and keep "trying" to get better, and we will. "Just take the picture." That's going on the wall in my studio.

Dave is such funny guy with some of his nice joke but in the way Old Guy talking and i love it when he chilling out. so i think dave are awesome in interview section it's like a talk show on Pro TV Program instead it's on youtube. i love this discussion on the last minute on the interview, it gave me another perspective on how people think about the tools and treats it as his own needs on getting things done, and that's why i like your channel. btw graham, you rule!

As a producer sending off your mix to someone else isn't a bad idea. It's nice just focusing on composing and arranging. Mixing is really a profession and art by itself that I have so much respect for who does it professionally. I became a better mixer once I realized let a professional mix it. Great interview guys!.

I was on Wiki reading about overtones and how the fundamental can be missing but is still perceived by the Integer relationship of the overtones to the fundamental even when not present.I read further about a patent Max bass system which uses this research to give the illusion that small low powered speakers produce low frequencys that arnt there.Do you have any video,s of how this technique can be achieved and apply to a mix/master,especially as most listen to music on small portable devices
