It's because execs ask for dumb weird shit all the time and most business cultures don't tolerate the underlings questioning them... this scam is perfectly designed to prey on American corporate culture. We literally have training programs in place to train every single employee in our company how not to fall for this kind of thing and it's 100% necessary training at every company because when we test people after training 20% of them still fail.

This does make her seem dumb, but it's not necessarily as bad as it seems. She was the target of a social engineering attack. The attacker 100% knew that she was a new hire at Barstool and wouldn't know that the procedure, and vernacular of the CEO's email was off. For people that employ these types of attack, she was a PRIME target.
