My first Crimson albums were Red and Thrakk. I LIKE crunchy KC...

Hey David. Great video. I like that Steven Wilson album. And I've been loving the Nick Cave! I saw him last year on his solo piano tour. I love Thrak! Cheers

Oh Bobby, I wish I’d seen that piano tour. I’m having to make do with the NEC Arena.

“Yul Brynner was a skinhead” wins song title of the week. Hilarious! Enjoy that future Nick Cave show. I’m late to the party with Nick. I do somehow have a Birthday Party EP called Mutiny. I got it in the 80s when it was released. It’s wild. Good stuff in this video David ending with Lucinda. ✌️

Mike, I was late tot he Nick cave party too. It was only Kylie Minogue duetting on 'Where the Wild Roses Grow' who drew me in. Since then, his more reflective material justifies his status as a legend in the making. I found him similar to Dylan in a way - a rapidly expanding catalogue, seemingly similar in tone, but where the details emerge beautifully with sustained listening. I think I'm going to be exploring those finer details for the rest of my days. The Birthday Party are a different beast altogether.

I have three Porcupine Tree records, but no solo Wilson. as some point, I will have to see what he's all about. I am interested in picking up the Nick Cave. Reconstrucktion of Light! I've some to the conclusion that I like that record more than most people. I have a weird CD from KC called Thrakattak. Now that is a weird listen. It riffs on Thrak to odd effect! Very cool finds, David.

Hi Brian, I have those KC albums on CD as well. I go through a KC buying frenzy every so often, and hoover-up just about everything I can lay my hands on. 'The Construction of Light' and 'Thraattak' are all present and correct, but I can honestly say I haven't focused on them much at all. After all, it took me 20+ years to finally 'get' 'Thrak'! And, by the way, I absolutely love 'One Time' (unlike someone I know!)

@@davidatkinson-lifematters4826 Ha ha. One Time is a smooth song. I can see why you love it. I do appreciate Belew's vocals on it!

@@EmbryonicRobot 😃 Might be his best vocal for the band? You're right about my liking mellow KC, but I still love my 'Level Five'. 😎

@davidatkinson-lifematters4826 Maybe it is his best. Level Five is tremendous!

@@EmbryonicRobot Especially the version on 'Elektrik'. The band is so, so TIGHT.

Some great purchases David. I have to put some of these on my list, especially the Steven Wilson, Nick Cave and Lucinda. Some great bargains there. Cheers.

Hey David, lovely additions to your collection. I still have a hard time getting into Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson's work, but hey I'm a prog nerd, so there is no need to despair... and speaking of progressive rock, I need to give a fair hearing to those Crimson records you showed.
@davidatkinson-lifematters4826Ай бұрын
Hi Romi, For Prog fans, Porcupine Tree's ''The Delirium Years 1991-1997' is the place to start (if you have deep pockets), or the 2CD compilation 'Stars Die'. They have all the best PT tracks before they morphed (for a few) years into a Prog Metal band, which I was less enamoured by. I can only imagine you'd love 'The Sky Moves Sideways' in particular. Also worth checking-out, and from a later album still, is the Demo version of 'Even Less' (about 14 minutes, I think). The only time I saw them live was in the mid-1990s, and they opened with that track. Turned-up loud, it's astonishing. Those Crimson albums really are an acquired taste. They have many fewer lovely melodies than their best music. Lovely packages though.

Listening to Sleepy Little Sailor Oh Susanna on Spotify now, very impressive. Checking her Suzie Ungerleider songs later. Thanks for the tip.😀

I had the same issue with the Nick Cave sleeve
@davidatkinson-lifematters4826Ай бұрын
It's a pain, isn't it? You can imagine whoever signed-off on the sleeve design doesn't own any records.
