A really thoughtful list. I’ll be listening to your suggestions. Considering your situation, you’ve got a perspective that I value. Best wishes to you good sir

Hi there Nick! This is Brian from Tokyo Record Style! I'm swinging by to say that I not only watched your video a few days a back and felt so glad and grateful to see another cool person take up this tag, but I watched it again why cataloging all your selections, so I can compile them into a little archive on my side and also for me to be able to go listen to them with the intention of coming to know you and your channel a bit better by the selections you made. I didn't initially set out to do this extra bit of listening, which on one hand sounds rather daunting but on the other hand, it's like I've had a custom made mix of music to enjoy for a few day and a chance to expand my musical horizons, all while being able to forge better connections. I suppose it sounds a bit too sentimental or over-the-top but I weren't having this unexpected fun, I wouldn't be doing it. Anyway, I just had an intentional 30 or 45 minutes with you, logging and listening to a to just the couple first minutes of every album that you put forth, and in time, I'm going to listen to them but I'm a bit back up but I will get to them so please hang tight. I hope you don't mind me saying but I can tell you're a cool dude and we'd surely enjoy so musical company, and of course I invite you to Tokyo where I'd be happy to meet up for a dig or a coffee. Also very happy to know somebody in Wales. I don't think I have too many connections, if any at all, from there so it's nice to be able to connect their virtually though you, your channel, and videos! Records on your list I'm most looking forward to listening to?: Uriah Heep - The Magician's Birthday Album (Sounds super promising and up my alley) The Mothers of Invention - Freak Out (a fav of mine but haven't listened in YEARS!) Dire Straits - Making Movies (maybe I've never heard) Clifford T Ward - Home Thoughts from Abroad (definitely never had head, or even heard of!) Ramases - Space Hymns (What on earth is this?) ...and many more. I'll circle back when I can, and hype up your video best I can after I fully absorb it, but for now thanks again for making this and putting so much thought into this. Really chuffed! Best from Tokyo - Brian ...and PS. sending healthy healing vibes your way!

wow thanks Brian - fantastic reply and thanks for taking the time to write it :-) I'm enjoying these vinyl "tags" as it's getting me to engage with my collection more (and expand it much to my wallet's dislike!!). I hope you enjoy some of the new to you records I mentioned. Clifford T Ward is a particular favourite of mine - whimsical English folk (kind of!). Japan as a country has always fascinated me. So many contrasts and cultures. I would have loved to have visited but my health (I have an incurable blood cancer) means it's extremely unlikely I'll ever visit. But Peter's channel where he gets out and about provides a lovely insight :-) And I'm now glad you have a Welsh connection. We may be a small country but we punch above our weight!! I do have another channel (during the meanwhilst) which is photography based and I (sometimes) get out and about in my locality. If you're ever interested you are more than welcome to join us over there :-)

@@carefulwiththataxeeugene-fz2ek Wonderful to read all this Thank you for sharing more. And of course I am a big big photo head, in fact it's my job! So much so that I sometimes need a little musical respite from it. But yes, I would love to connect with likeminded photography people so please point the channel my way and I will definitely subscribe and, schedule permitting, join in whatever capacity I can! Stay in touch and best for now!

@@tokyorecordstyle that’s great to hear. I had plans to turn pro as a photographer before I got ill. Now it’s just to pass my time as I had to give up work. The channel is called during the meanwhilst :-)

It's 2:20 am and I really need to get some sleep. But I'll be watching this during the day when I have time, probably on my home from work late at night.

@@duringthemeanwhilst I’m really looking forward to it. Unfortunately for my viewing time, my Friday schedule is different today, and though I can start watching this afternoon, I won’t be able to return to it until after 9:30 tonight.

I enjoyed seeing your selections, Nick. It would have been nice to hear a little more about some of them. The Black Sabbath concert was really the highlight! I haven’t really come to appreciate The Lamb album either. I too keep getting interrupted… by my mind wondering and thinking about how much I enjoy the previous three albums. I suppose I should try again. That one and Snow by Spock’s Beard are two highly rated double concept albums that haven’t connected with me. I’m glad to tackled this one. I liked it because the items were a little more conceptual at times and that left it open for some thinking. Well done!

@@musicisajourney thanks Peter - glad you enjoyed it :-) I would have liked to have expanded more on some titles, ELO in particular but was conscious of the already lengthy video. Perhaps I’ll try a longer format some time as I really like and enjoy your longer and in depth videos. I’ve got one planned on Supertramp as I’ve been listening to their catalogue lately and realised they are such an underrated band. The Sabbath night was surreal. We were only 16 and should have been terrified but at that age you are immortal and it all seemed huge fun! My girlfriend and I went all over watching bands with little regard as to how we’d get home!!

When you mention "a day at the races”, are you talking about the Marx Brothers movie?🤣
@duringthemeanwhilst3 ай бұрын
not at all. Queen released 2 albums in the 70s named for Marx Bros films - A Day at the Races and A Night at the Opera. That'll be $86 for the education!!
@Enrique-the-photographer3 ай бұрын
@@duringthemeanwhilst Haha, I just “googled it”, I thought that you were kidding, no, I’m not paying you the $86, I would’ve gladly paid it if the information was about Lawrence Welk.
