"Dave's inverter had a fuse inside so he didn't require an inline one on his wiring" Oh yes he does require a fuse. The fuse protects the wiring. If anything pinches that wire to ground, the wire glows red hot and probably blow your battery while the fuse inside of the inverter will remain unaffected. The fuse inside of the inverter protects the inside of the inverter, just as the fuse inside of the radio protects the radio. I like the template idea.

just a little note to any DIY enthusiasts in regards to cars, beware if your working on your a pillar or passenger dash if there are airbags. I use the gentle tuck method dave used on the roof liner if they're fitted. Aside from that, nice mod and don't fret so much about electricity, that's what circuit breakers are for. lol

Onboard fuse or not any wire tied to the battery should be fused within 1 foot of the battery. If that wire shorts anywhere on the way to the inverter the result will likely be a fire

I was upstairs on a balcony with some family and there was a power line line 20 ft away and lightening hit it. I was temporarily blinded and deaf for a few minutes.

?Dave's inverter may have a fuse inside of it, but there is still a requirement for one on the wire at the battery- unless you want to burn the car down.

when you removed the outlet plugs from the inverter is the wiring shown in the video at 6:42 the original wiring straight from inside the inverter? or did you had to add the wiring to them?? if so how to confirm you used the colored wires to connect the wiring of the outlet plugs back where they were original connected inside the inverter?

Dave, what gauge wire did you use from the Battery? (10, 12, or 14 Gage?) If 14, could you use Romex (house wiring with rubber sheath)?

I have a 2000 watt, but it didn't come with normal 110v receptacle. It has a place that looks like one can be installed. What do I need go get? It did have a SUB.

I wldnt worry abt liquid causing a short, u might drop change in there by accident, or take that change an buy a cple rubber caps for the 12 volt power outlets. Or add a rocker switch so u can turn them off an on just like u did with ur inverter. Good ideas u have, not crazy about the quality of materials u used. An u didn't have to destroy ur inverter, panel mount outlets on amazon r what u destroyed the inverter to get! 2 bux each or so

I sure hope you dont spill a drink on the 120v socket, there is no GFCI outlet. You will find him with the headlines "Officer Finds Electrocuted Man In Single Car Accident" Not the best place to put 110-120V 15-20amp plug.

Bondo isn't structural. A MUCH better option is JB Weld, and easier to work with as well.

The inverter uses power even when no 120VAC devices are plugged in. It would have been better to add a on/off switch for AC power.

I would have just plug a power cord into the inverter and cut the female plug off the other end and soldered the wire to the panel plug. forget fuses 12 volt circuit work great .. I have had 100 amp fuse holder melt even when I'm not drawing a lot
