Thanks for posting! I've done several waves with box squatting with no carry over. I'm raw with LONG femurs, and all my box squatting has been done with shins beyond vertical like Louie says, but free squatting with knees at toe distance, maybe a bit beyond. Thanks again, and i'll be using this in my next few DE waves! The Box Squat wide stance does help build my hips though, with carry over to my squat cleans!!!

People always question why I do 95% box squats. I'm not the best at them but they have solely been the best improvement in my training next to adding a lifting belt. Most likely I will box squat for the foreseeable future.

I can do heavy as hell on box squats no knee pain but even if I got 225 and squat 4 sets of 20 my knees will be killing me I live and die by the box squat also keeps you true on your depth I switched the Heights every week it ranges from 13in up to 18 in

Gents, So if I am doing box squats mostly to develop my weak hamstrings and glutes it make sense for my knee to be closer to my heel correct? I know I have weak hamstrings/glutes compared to my quads so I'm using the box squat to teach my glutes/hams to fire and contribute to my squat more so that my quads don't just take over. I suspect my quads taking over are causing me knee pain in my left knee. Jim nailed it with the box squat being good for your knees. Good video. Very informative. This whole series is awesome.

Conventional squats better for building mass than box squats?

What height should you be squatting down to on box parallel or just below cos normal plyo box st lowest level for 6ft person is just above parallel

So when I watch the videos of Louie and crew doing box squats they have a wide stance, when you go to free squat you should keep that same wide stance? or should you bring it back to about shoulder width or whatever feels comfortable within that range? I also have been doing close stance below parallel box squats and it was my impression it was working well because my free squat went up but I had a guy in the gym, who has competed in, he said 85 lifting competitions, the dude can lift a shit ton of weight, never seen his squat, but he said never do close stance box squats always do wide. Can yall clear that up? By the way these videos are the shit, please keep them coming.

Louie says you want to box squat wide because training the wide stance builds both the close and the wide, while training the close stance only builds the close.

Hm1998 harry Right, so then I guess why would you train close stance box squats because wide trains both at the same time?

+TheWJC1987 more or less. Close stance are good for a deadlift accessory but training them as a ME movement doesn't make sense to me
