The way he infuses life into the Drum Set is nothing short of magical !!!! And the level of dynamics and fluidity is insane.....This is literally poetry in motion !!!

Just astonishing playing. The control that Dave has over the hi-hat with his left foot alone leaves me speechless.

The control in his hands, the timing, volume, feel is just outrageous

I really try to explain to non-drummers how thematically, mathematically, and technically advanced this playing is but Dave makes it look so easy, they don't get it. The economy of movement should really be studied. Unreal.

I love all styles of music, Rock, Metal, country, pop, jazz, etc. And i used to love watching all the big hard rock drum solos in the 80s by many of the rock drummers back in the day, along with many of Dave's contemporaries in his main genre of jazz fusion. All that to say... since I've been alive NO DRUMMER has ever wow'd me like Dave. What he does behind a drum kit is super hard to explain to anyone who isn't familiar with him. Is there anything this guy can't do? Also hes probably one of the most humble musicians there is, teaching other drummers no matter what style they play... how they can make it even better and easier for them. If you're a drummer, no matter what style you play, study this guy and binge watch all his youtube videos. And, You're welcome!

I put my sticks away 6 years ago after playing semi pro for over 30 years. I’m so glad after watching that or I’d have been burning them and the old kit. Different level!!

That is what keeps me going on,the way you make things look so natural, even though we all know they are beyond that...the flow, the expression, the musicality of phrases....leaving aside the touch, dynamics, tone.Brilliant to this day.

Best drumset player of all time hands down! To play so fluidly and flawless with traditional grip is insane. Such beautiful technique and musicality through rythmic phrasing makes it look efortless. Its not though, its very refined but complex. Great solo. Not just this video but every solo ive Ever heard you play is tasty!

Hallelujah, Dave. Timing, touch ,drive, emotion are all superb. I met you at Pasic many years ago and both me and my daughter have heard you and Mike Stern play at Blues Alley. While our hair has turned gray, you are still a magnificent drummer and I still appreciate your awesome performances. Jeff

Wow Dave. Absolutely phenomenal. You are one of the first drummers I remember really loving as a young musician. My drum instructor showed me your “Hard Wired” album, and I tried SO hard to learn that title track. 😂 It’s still one of my favorites. My favorite is aspect of your playing is the FLOW. You always look relaxed and calm. It is SO fun to watch. Thank you!

This solo is deliciously out of time. Having watched / listened to your playing since the mid-late 80s, this feels new, somehow. I know it's not - but it feels that way nonetheless. Thanks for posting it Dave, you always keep me reaching for "better"...

I just wanted to take a moment to say how much I appreciate your work and how inspiring you've been to me over the years. You're still at the absolute top of your game, with a level of tastefulness and control that's truly unmatched. I used to watch your instructional VHS tapes in pure awe, soaking up everything I could. In fact, back in 1998, I was so inspired by you that I bought a green Yamaha Maple Custom kit, my absolute pride & joy. You are my favorite drummer of all time, thank you for all you do!

Lucky enough to be there it was fkn amazing. Everyone was totally on it and feeding the fire. Ended up getting to hang with Frank after the show via his longtime friend who I was with in the audience. Such a humble, calm, relaxed and funny guy. Is there more recorded to see please? Perhaps a bass solo ftom DiPiazza (holy smokes!)

how in the hell does he make his stroke rolls look and sound effortlessly smooth like butter. It’s like a smooth double stroke roll with one hand then he throws both hands in doing it and….. wow. 100,000 hours doing snare rolls. 🤷♂️

Maybe it's me, but it seems like Dave has a new "sound." Typically, I can tell when the Master is playing, for he has his own very unique style, but in this solo, I don't hear those tell tale signs that it was Mr. W playing. I love it . . . and am Mezmerised. :D
