They say its next day support however, they always have an excuse about shipping and receiving parts. They made me wait 90 days to replace the fans on the heatsink and those fans ended up dying out over a few months. Ontop of that, I had two of these models at one point and can confirm that the temperature of the gpu ON AVERAGE, would be around 90 something degrees c. I had to use throttlestop to lower the temps and the lowest they got during gaming was 76 degrees c. The support and funding behind these companies are really damned important. That's something I've learned the hard way after owning my Gigabyte Aero 15X for 4 years. When you need to send your computer in because it broke, it may have to go all the way back to HQ halfway around the world (I had to RMA my laptop 3 times in 1.5 months before they finally gave me a new device). They may not have the money to continue updating drivers like they should (Gigabyte hasn't released new BIOS drivers in 2 years, leading to stupid issues like sleep mode causing battery drain). These smaller companies seemingly cannot provide the experience you deserve when shelling out $2K+ for a computer. That's why my next computer is going to be from Asus. The experience of owning a laptop is more than just the performance numbers; be careful who you buy from.

Gigabyte is small company? Dude the heck you talking about. They may not be a giant like asus and dell but they are big company. The reason you trouble happen is because they aren’t really active in mobile department. Gigabyte actually share the biggest pieces in computer parts. Specially in asia. Asian trust gigabyte from early 2000 more than msi, asus. Only shaken a bit after lately damage due to “psu problem”. I’m sorry to hear your story but it’s gigabyte false and there’s no excuse. Even Razer a small company doing razer taxes make it hard to sell can still provide some decent updates, even a smaller individual line up tongfeng can provide these little things. We needed the bare minimum service at least in 2-3 years for high end products. If you can’t fix it through online? Then send it back. I don’t accept the kind of answer “because we are small” from giant company. Rubbish. Ps: also i don’t think asus can provide better than other laptop conpany. But if you like asus then go for it, at least they don’t blame on being small. But if you need service fast for your company’s or work’s sake then the better i suggest is apple (you can bring to any apple store but will be charge premium for couple days), dell (help you out from online to offline, and even when you in company), acer hp vs lenovo (will trying to solve it out as temporary and will send technicians to check it out on schedule). But suggest put acer at the least of them all because acer kinda suck in their product line up. You can sum asus, msi and other company in one group (send to your dealer or head quarter)

We all have different aftersales experiences. As for me, I’ve bought an Alienware m15 from Dell US in 2019 before the pandemic hit. I had a BIOS issue with my unit and got stuck in Singapore but Dell gladly repaired my unit that came along with their global premium support warranty. It was the best aftersales service I got for a non-Apple consumer product and it made me really confident about Dell products that I’m considering to ship in an Alienware x17 from the US for my next laptop upgrade.

My only real issue is that I bought it from Best Buy and I found out too late that I could have gotten the same system directly from Dell with a better screen for the same price. If I had it to do over, I would just take the money and build a nice new desktop instead. My thought when getting the laptop was portability, but it's barely left my desk.

Dave, love, love love, your videos but I disagree with you regarding Alienware support. Yes, they do offer to come fix your device in your home if it's under warranty... but, the process involved in getting them to do that is painstaking. Linus Tech Tips did a secret shopper video that highlights what I'm talking about but Dell treats their customers poorly. I don't say that lightly. They sent me a brand new laptop that was damaged during shipping and then made me buy a brand new screen because they said it was accidental damage. I was on the phone multiple times, I wound up writing to the CEO. I spent weeks trying to get help and was finally given the new screen for "only $300." It was awful. Their phone support is awful and slow. Their email process is frustrating. Buying a machine if you call on the phone is awful as they try to upsell garbage over useful features. I will never, ever buy from them again which is a shame because they have wonderful hardware and they have the scale to do things for their customers that few companies can do. They are not better at providing support though. Don't take my word. Do a little digging, I think you'll quickly change your mind. Anyway, thanks for all the great content. Keep it up!

Regarding support, although I have read really bad reviews, I have had nothing but positive experiences with Dell support. Before I went to the dark side with Apple, I most recently had an Alienware X51 R2 which came with a mechanical hard drive (this was some years ago now). I wanted to replace it with an SSD I had bought (ssd's were relatively new to the market at this time, at least being widely available and not costing more than $1 per GB). There is a proprietary mount that was needed for the SSD in that small form factor computer. Dell not only sent me the mount and multiple sata cables free of charge, they sent me a windows usb stick free of charge and walked me through how to reinstall windows and all the drivers. And by the way, I had originally purchases the X51 1st gen from Dell's refurb store, but it came really scratched up. I called to complain about it and not only did Dell replace it for free but they also sent me a brand new, non-refurb X51 r2 right when that machine was released (it wasn't even out yet when i made my purchase). The whole experience was 10 out of 10 for sure.

I just got an X14, and honestly, I love it. The rear venting and ports really make the experience outstanding when you're using it on a desk, with no cables or hot air getting in my mousing on the right or my Diet Pepsi on the left. I think a lot of people are going to disregard it because it's only an 3060 laptop, but assuming you're OK with that level of performance (and I am), it's honestly great. The USB-C brick is awesome, too, since it's so portable and light, and it can charge so many other things, like my Sony camera and MacBook Pro, so it is space efficient. The games I enjoy (RTS) are rather single-thread CPU dependent and perform much better on Intel than AMD, so I tried the G14, and it's amazing for what it's good at, but for the games I want to play, the X14 is so much better. G14 are better at fan noise and battery life for casual use but for gaming, it's just as loud and the battery doesn't last that long, so for me, I don't find those to be decisive factors because if those are your primary concerns, you should just get a MacBook Pro. As for the price, if you look on the Dell website right now, the X14 prices are honestly pretty good right now, and for some weird reason, upgrading to 32 GB RAM (which you'll wanna do since it's soldered) and 1 TB SSD is weirdly cheap, like suspiciously so. Maybe it's a glitch, but it's good to take advantage if you can, and combine that with a 10% coupon for signing up for newsletters or something, and it wasn't much more than a G14.

To be fair, $50 or so to upgrade to 32gb ram is HUGE value, considering only one stick on the g14 is upgradable and the blade 14 caps out at 16gb. I agree, however, that the g14 is undeniably better value. Ignoring sales though, the g14 for $1700 isn’t far off from the alienware. Like it’s cheaper, with a better screen, don’t get me wrong, but for those who want Intel + Nvidia at 14 inches + usb c charging it could be worth it. Not value, but does have upsides if you are okay with 1080p and 16:9 at 14 inches (does have advanced optimus and g-sync though so that’s better for gamers)

@@nightwing8666 At the time I ordered, the X14 in that config cost me $1709 because of various discounts, and an open boxed G14 was $1500, so by the time I'd added an upgraded stick of RAM (DDR5 is expensive), it was basically the same price. G14's current discount changes things, but even then, it's not like G14 is stratospherically different, and if you're price sensitive, Dell's refurb store exists, and so do 3050 models. And yes, the 6700S is, in theory, a faster GPU than anything you can get on the X14. But if you mainly play CPU-bound games or do productivity tasks, like I do, the faster RAM + SSD + CPU in X14 absolutely smashes the G14. Also, AMD's drivers are so inconsistent. In AoE II, I got a smoother performance from the iGPU than the dGPU. Also, I have a feeling that when I want to get another laptop, the X14 will have retained its value better. I did really like the screen on the G14, but 1080p is not bad at 14". Anyway, you can't just look at a bunch of numbers and go, nobody should ever get a X14 when the G14 exists. I tried them back to back, and the X14 won.

@@jedisoldier I'm pretty sure it's an error, lol. For every other Dell computer, going from 16 to 32 adds $150, but for the X14, it's only a $50 jump, and that makes it an amazing deal for me because I wanted 32, and yeah, the drivers for the X14 are so much better and more stable than the G14. The G14 bluescreened on me a lot when I was messing with graphical options, whereas the X14 works well enough with default settings. Where the G14 shines, though, is in its low-power use, where even with iGPU, it's actually pretty good, and you can easily run it on USB-C power at that point. X14 doesn't have the ability to go low-power APU only while still retaining performance.

For a student, I want alienware because of the cool rgb lights. I used to use a Mac but just changed to Asus this year.

Few years back the case was that razor products last 1 year before they start having issues. Is this still the case??? I know that Linus exchanged his razor because of this

It's Razer. Razeeeeeer. Why takes a non-native speaker to write that right?

I had a Razer Blade 15 2060 for about 2 years. One of the main issues I had with it was the thermals: the thing overheated so easily. About a year in, one of the fan components actually partially melted and made a terrible buzzing sound. When it stopped making the sound, it was because the fan had stopped working altogether. Keep in mind I would play games for no longer than 3 hours at a time with a decent cooling mat, and when I played I always made sure to end all other significant processes in the background. I just purchased an Alienware m17 R5 3070 a while ago and the thermals are phenomenal. I was able to run Apex Legends at max settings and get around 120fps. The laptop did not overheat at all, running only a bit warm at the peak of performance. The only real cons I see so far are the loudness of the fan and the lack of portability.

Razer definitely takes this, Alienware fell off in the past 2 years.

I'm a Razer fan, but I disagree. They're different, and without actual data it isn't possible to say this.

Is Alienware still soldering their ram so you cant upgrade? If so I would never buy another one. I'm stuck with 8gb because I thought "Its Alienware, of course i'll be able to upgrade later" but no

@@SaumyajitGuha12 well this is true for every company. I had a praised Lenovo's laptop which started breaking down after around a year (X1 Carbon 4th gen), my friend had an Alienware he wanted to buy for years, yet it also gave so much problems he sold it. And there's my Blade 14 2017 working just fine to this day.

I am a long time owner of Razer Blade, since the first generation of 14” to currently 17”. I always told my friend how good it is, how portable it is, even the build quality & look is perfectly on point. UNTIL, last couple month, I had some issue with the laptop, contacted their support, paid the money, send in to diagnose. They said fixed it and send it back to me. This process took me 3 weeks. After I received the so-called “fixed” Razer Blade 17, I found out the issue remains, here we go, another round of troubleshooting, and send it back. Took me another 4 weeks. Finally, they admit they can’t fix it and send a new unit as a replacement. I am not complaining the new unit that they finally decided to replaced mine, but 7 weeks to get thing right is too much. I ALMOSTTT lost my job due to I’ve no backup device to work on. Here I am, watching this video, thinking I should had probably get Alienware looking at their next day on side fix.

I have the original Alienware 17inch Area 51M .i9 with 2080 RTX and had it about 2-3 years now . Still amazing absolutely love the design . It’s still flawless and I’ve had no issues at all with this hefty model . This is the thicker model of all the Alienware laptops . All I can say is still now throwing most games I’m playing at full spec on a 1080p monitor . Hunt showdown looks amazing . No complaints from me and the service from them has been top notch . I’ve upgraded the Ram on the original version and this was simple and painless as they encourage this and give complete step by guides .

Alienware all day. Bought my x17 r1 little over a year ago with a 3080 and the only one with the glass touchpad that changes colors (r2 doesn't have it), and it's one thing I don't regret spending 4k on it. The warranty and customer service is incredible like he was saying. Mine is covered for anything that goes wrong with the laptop including accidents, and they've sent a person immediately to my home to fix the laptop as well as sending parts. My SSD went bad for some reason soon after I bought. Alienware sent me not one but two SSDs with windows 11 already on it after they suspected my SSD being bad and even let me install myself and still have the laptop under warranty.
