I'm not surprised. This is exactly why I haven't bought a MacBook Air. Apple played it safe with this generation and didn't use the opportunities of M-series chips to make laptops thinner and lighter. Only their overlooked desktops are really state of the art right now.
@andyH_England2 күн бұрын
Apple does their research and probably came to the conclusion that weight isn't a major incentive to buy a laptop now. Bearing in mind LG Gram have been selling light laptops and not doing at all well, and that Apple's MacBook was a poor seller, tghey probably know more than random people on YT. Though I think a cheap lightweight Macbook would fill a gap in their lineup, but I suspect Apple are in no rush.

1:58 These graphs are not perfectly proportional based on the data. Bar lengths do not accurately reflect the numerical scores, especially in the balance between single-core and multi-core performance. If someone were choosing hardware based on this chart alone, they might underestimate the Apple M3’s balanced performance or overestimate Qualcomm’s advantage due to the exaggerated multi-core difference. I never thought I’d see this on Dave2D’s channel, but it seems like this is a pretty common practice on tech channels to influence the audience’s decision-making.

The configuration looks promising. With that battery life and performance, working all day long without a plugged-in charger would be fantastic. I just wonder how the software is going to work, though. I still have doubts about Snapdragon laptops, as some software is not well-supported. Choosing between Windows software with x86 and ARM architecture options could also be challenging. Additionally, how easy is it to simply close and open the lid to resume work? Is it as snappy as a MacBook Air? I've tried some Snapdragon laptops, but the response time to resume the screen isn’t as quick as a MacBook. It’s not really long, but just not quick enough.
