You realize the dealers buy the vehicles from GM and they set the MSRP? If you knew what the "profit" is in new vehicles you wouldn't say that. I worked all through Covid and our dealership didn't have ANY market adjustments. I'm sorry you didn't get a car for a loss but that would make it hard for dealerships to stay open. If you want to aim your anger towards GM I will TOTALLY agree!

Dealerships EVERYWHERE, when they had the upper hand from 2019 to 2023, SCREWED their customers just as hard as they could. A couple of things happened...first, and most importantly, dealer markups hit HARD. 5, 10, 20k surcharges. A 35k car became 45k. Second..when the inevitable happened, and cars started being built in quantity, all those individuals that paid 45k for a 35k car were SAVAGELY under water. Screw it..give it back to the bank. Repo's are everywhere, depressing prices even more. Third...for those individuals that sucked it up with a car purchased in 2022, they HAVE to keep the car 4-5 years, JUST to get any equity. If I hadn't put 20k down on my 2022 Tucson, I would be boned, hard. I got lucky to get a very high trade on my 2017 Subaru Outback 3.6R. I held clear title, and they gave me 28k, and sold it to some sucker for more than 30k. Five years old. Ouch.

EVs with the current infrastructure will not replace 85% of gas engines. Right now hybrid engines are a better investment than a EV. Number one charging station are not plentiful and on every corner like gas stations. None will charge a car faster than can you fill a gas tank. So that’s an inconvenience. Maintenance on a EV is brutal when you finally need something done. (Battery replacement! as rare as it is it’s expensive) Two the cost of a EV even though they are less priced than before are still expensive. A Prius is a better buy than most because you get the economy of a EV with the convenience of gas. Until the infrastructure is in place to support EVs it will be hard to be all in on EVs .

Well dealerships made millions during COVID from price gouging and greed. I would use the cash reserves from those days.

Funny how businesses call not making a larger profit "losing money". The rest of us call it "less profit". Wait 'til the red ink comes calling. That's the losses the public deals with.

Dealer attitudes during Covid with buy it at inflated price or dont. The next Person will and offer even more. NOW it is payback time. Screw every dealer. Now if you want a ride, whatever you chosse there are probably 50 or more within 100 miles. Everytime I hear a dealer is going.......have a good trip!!
@DaveBsellsChevy

@@hockeynutt9434 it's not payback time. Just going back to normal times when vehicles had thousands in discounts/rebates exactly the way it has been for the 20 years prior to the vehicle shortage in 2021/2022 which led to the higher sale prices. Suppy and demand.

@@DaveBsellsChevy payback time. I am not alone in my thinking. So there was no such thing as taking advantage of the customer during Covid when a dealer had 2 cars and 20 ppl want them. Please.

Simple question: why are Chevrolet Colorados $41,000 with no options? The GMC version is only $1,000 more in my state. And why do dealers refuse to stock the Canyon or Colorado? There are a total of only TWELVE for sale in a 50-mile radius of where I live in TX.

I’ll keep driving my paid off 8 year old pickup. When the UAW has an opening contract stance of “ we want a 4 day work week” . The big 3 raise prices at a higher rate of inflation. The auto company CEO’s and board of directors support the current fools in Washington DC . I’ll keep my money, you keep your full lot of great cars.

Dave, another great video! I so enjoy your commentary on the cars you sell, for the past 25 years I have only bought brand new cars and here in Toronto it's extremely rare to find one on the lot that is exactly what I want so I typically order mine and wait (I'm at 24 months now waiting for a Highlander Hybrid.. absolutely cra cra) but I curious what your thoughts are on lot rot. Is it a real thing beyond tires with flat spots? Those two trucks sitting for year seems like a long time on a dealer lot.

That is truly unfortunate how the odds are stacked against you. I got out of the car sales business but enjoyed it when I did. I think the average person is confusing the dealership for the sales person. As a sales person I did NOT make that much, 2007 I made 30K my final year working 60 hour weeks. It seems most sales people I meet are still struggling to make 100K.

It seems to me you are more interested in your own wants and needs than those of the customer. As a side note, it is hard to believe that a company would buy that beautiful p/u for their lot and trade or dispose of it after 1,000 miles. The only reason I can think of is that it must be an advantageous tax credit.
