Further extending your oil change interval is bad advice. You don't want to push your oil to the limit. You want to change it when it is still good to make sure you always have oil that is maximally lubricating your engine.

I think that’s a pretty honest and fair assessment Andre that takes into account both your own needs not being met by this size vehicle and also the service issues the truck presented. That mixture seems realistic for most of us …we buy a vehicle with enthusiasm and over time that enthusiasm is either validated or wanes and usually its not one massive failure its a collection of experiences and elements that again either erode or validate our decision.

My dad was looking for a truck. He only uses it to carry tools, tree limbs, and tow a zero turn mower on an aluminum trailer on occasion. So most any truck can do those things fine enough. He was looking at midsize and 1/2 ton trucks, and I recommended he go with a 2025 Ram 1500 as the best to live with daily with room and a comfortable ride. For the '25 refresh, advanced safety features, parking sensors, adaptive cruise, and the 8.4 UConnect are now standard. I could not imagine not having cruise control on a modern vehicle. It was 42k out the door for a Tradesman in the metallic black, so I think it was a better value than the midsize trucks. And it has room for car seats when my parents have grandkids.

I recently bought a 2024 ZR2 Bison , it’s been an excellent truck for my needs . It’s a great truck as far as I’m concerned and I have no regrets or complaints. I knew what it was when I bought it. I traded in a 2024 RTR Spec 2 Mustang. I have had a ton of different Mustangs and never owned a Chevy . The power of this truck is pretty strong for what it is , it has plenty of torque and enough power for everyday driving. I’ve experienced high horsepower cars and I cannot tell you one time on public roads that I used a 1/3 of the power. So horsepower to me is irrelevant. I don’t wanna lose my license or go to jail 😂 Is it the best truck to pull something with of course not . Is it capable off road , absolutely. The interior is nice and it looks very aggressive on the outside. It’s leaps and bounds better than a Ranger Raptor in my opinion and the Ranger Raptor is what I set out to buy . I just couldn’t get past the red accents on the interior and the vertical screen . Sure it has a V6 but doesn’t matter to me . The power is irrelevant since I’m not racing and the Bison has just as much torque. The Bison is just a better truck as far as I’m concerned.

If you put your truck in tow mode it'd been different results in that race most people don't realize by keeping the tow mode off it's much like turning on the overdrive button on a late 80s or 90s car or truck or putting your vehicle in rain mode by leaving the tow mode off your loosing initial power to the rear wheels & using less emissions if you leave tow mode on it shifts better keeps the transmission cooler & doesn't restrict low end torque the only time I'd shut tow mode off is on highway or in rain or snow etc most people don't realize this

I gave it a few hours, started it again. And it was back to normal. Going to have that looked at as well. All in all, I'm happy with my truck. The 4 cylinder turbo does make me a little nervous. About longevity. But to my understanding they are pretty much the same ones they have been in the lower trim of Silverado's for about several years. With no major issues. 5:37 "The Car Care Nut" has been in the business for years and recommends not following your manufacturer's recommendations for such long intervals. If you want to have an engine (especially hard working turbo engines) that last you for 200-300K miles, change the oil every 5k miles or every 6 months (due to fuel dilution, where gasoline slowly seep into the oil, diluting it), whichever comes first. Its "cheap insurance" to keep your engine running well over the long haul.

The lack of a telescopic steering wheel is what nixed the colorado for me. The gm engineers and bean counters really screwed the pooch on that one because it wouldnt impact the cost that much and it dramatically impacts operator comfort. I literslly couldnt be comfortable in the truck at all. It made me mad that if I wanted to get the same features and a telescopic steering wheel I had to jump to z71 and spend almost 8k more and not have the option of a suspension lift from the factory. The biggest waste of money is the z71 trim as the trail boss does its job better but they deliberately crippled the trail boss comfort. The mid size market has a lot of options again, but unfortunately each one has a lot of negatives and no manufacturer has hit a home run. Toyotas are tye most appealing but fit and finish issues combined with cost make them a poor buy. The ranger is probably the best balance of them all but the v6 is unobtainable and every dealership dumps nearly 5k worth of garbage add ons to the vehicle which prices them well beyond where they should reasonably be. Ive been a mid size truck guy since I bought a 2001 dakota and its been a very underserved segment for decades. Either getting no attention from manufacturers or very undercooked releases. The mid size is honestly the best balance for daily driving yet capable truck and off roading. Usually mpgs are better, the size makes them easier to maneuver and park in city and offroad, and they still can tow and haul unlike compacts. I honestly call mid size the "man sedan" vehicle. Maybe things will straiten out in the future, personally Im looking forward to the Scout Terra, but right now its just disappointment all around.

I would say it’s a combination of the transmission is slow and favors higher gears for any situation. Plus the fact that the Ranger is like 400lbs lighter. It did better on the Ike and I think that is more important for a truck.

I have to say these are very attractive trucks. GM nailed the exterior, to a lesser degree the interior, with a stout 2.7 and good ride quality. Payload and towing never a consideration, drop it in the bed, drop it on the bumper. The best kept secret, no self respecting diesel owner discusses - mpg, 24.5 highway - if you’re avoiding a subpoena you go 650 miles on a full tank 😅. Oh, but, the only downside, you do have to have a shoebox full of money.

Should have bought the ZR2! Best daily driver I’ve ever owned with no issues so far

I want to like Chevrolet. I really do. But they have a nasty addiction to screwing up. What happened, Mary Barra?

I haven't used cruise control in decades. I've had it in my vehicles, I just don't like it. I'd rather have control over all aspects of my driving, even if l am driving across country.

I would never recommend 12k miles between oil changes. I stick to every 5k and I have a 2023 Tacoma that recommends every 10k.

Interior cabin space in a mid size truck is a bit small for a family, night and day difference when you go to full size. Too bad you tow a boat long distance Andre otherwise I think you would love the Lightning.

Don't care for mid size trucks and being a Chevy guy my self but Ford has surpassed everyone in the mid sized truck market even Toyota.

I change my oil every 5k period. If you do it yourself it’s about $35 with a decent filter.

Your dealer knows you guys and what you do. While you ultimately signed for the truck, I’d be extremely disappointed in the dealer for allowing the cruise to be omitted. Especially at that trim level. Jesus, GM..really?

Cylinder deactivation is a deal breaker for me. I don’t want a 2 cylinder pulling me around.

Without a doubt, Andre is a 3/4-ton kind of guy. I'm thinking an F-250 Tremor.

Would appreciate if you were more honest about why you chose the truck. You did it for content. Plain and simple. You had no intentions of keeping it. You knew you were a full size truck guy from the jump. But more power to you for getting your moneys worth from us the viewers.

I’m not a fan of how you guys are adding video clips into the new videos just to drag it out. It’s not necessary since we’ve seen the original ones already and it conveys that you’re padding the current vid. I find myself stopping the video completely and going elsewhere.

Am not Chevy guy but if u let other vehicle leave the line first your looseing everytime unless u got couple 100 extra horsepower to make up for u can’t drive. And if u got taller tires that’s a huge disadvantage first rotational weight is biggest killer 2” taller tire about 5mpg less so it’s huge

I just can't believe that long oil change intervals on turbo engines is a good long term plan. I''m probably going to waste money on unnecesary oil changes. Friends of mine you have had ecoboosts and had trouble after 100k with turbos and other problems They followed approx a 10k oil change interval with synthetic. I know my oil looks dark after just 3k with 3.5 ecoboost. maybe I'lll do an oil analysis next time.

Extended oil change intervals are not a positive feature for longevity or for resale, imo.

I will never understand people that constantly get new vehicles and are forever with monthly payments. Why don't you just buy a vehicle and keep it for a couple years, instead of getting a new one every single year and wasting all your money, then complaining about it. These same people go on and on about reliability, and how it is the most important thing, yet they only keep their cars for a year before they get rid of them. Almost every new car will last a year or two before problems, so reliability really isn't an issue.

@@Fernando-t8g because they use it for content in the videos. People get tired of seeing the same vehicle once the content has run its course
@Tool0GT923 сағат бұрын
Many people have that monthly car payment in their budget. If you are always paying $700/month for a vehicle and you have money leftover and can save for retirement then you can have a newer car that is reliable and really nice.

I’m one of those people who go on and on about reliability. Of course my truck is 20 years old and has 300,000 miles on it and I’d confidently drive it across the country tomorrow if needed. They’ll have to pry the keys for my Toyota out of my cold dead hands…

I have a ‘17 Colorado and all in (every dollar spent on that truck, everything you could think of) I’m at $900/mo after 87mos to purchase own and operate. That doesn’t include trade in value. If I trade tomorrow for let’s say $17k it cost me $700/mo after almost 7.5yrs. You can probably lease and operate every 36mos a brand new truck for about the same price I’m guessing and have peace of mind everything is under warranty. I guess what I’m saying it’s not as crazy as it sounds dumping a truck after a few years.
