Thankyou Sir , i allways do the filter first as well and then allow myself 7,or 8 minutes to drain & refill engine oil . All okay at 347, 000 kms , running strong . Good vid .😊

Is there any reason why you can't just empty and refill the oil before you then turn to the filter. Would that not get the 10 minute issue out of the way. I just had my Wildtrak serviced by Ford and when I checked the dipstick the following day, the oil was strangely quite black. So not sure how much old oil they actually removed but I think I might quietly do an interim oil change myself before the next warranty service is due.

Does the 10 min rule apply to a brand new wildtrak? Or is there a better oil pump on this model? Thanks Dave and great vids by the way.
@DetailingandtheBeast5 жыл бұрын
As far as I'm aware it is exactly the same. The oil pump issue that is being shouted about is due to weak veins on the pump. Nothing to do with draining. The later ones do have stronger veins, but.. I believe still suffer this "problem" with draining. 👍🏻 Thanks for comments on the video😎

I don't own a Wildtrak but I am thinking of buying one. Is there no oil pressure warning light? I didn't see one when you started up?

Hello. Let's say you drain the oil for more than 10 minutes, realize the mistake, add new oil and wait for 1 hours before starting the engine. Will that solve the pump priming problem?
@DetailingandtheBeast Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not. So the "fix" would be to overfill by 8-9 more litres. Leave it till it runs out of the filter housing, fit oil filter, then drain 9 litres. Leave it to stand. Run up to temp and then top up as needed.

Bristol Street is a franchise, and their reputation round here is really poor so I'm not surprised they don't know. If you don't believe the countless failures on the forums, then contact Ford UK directly. They certainly do know about it. 👍

@@DetailingandtheBeast I actually contacted Ford directly in the end as all I can find seem to be differing opinions, following is a copy of their reply to me asking about the 10 minute rule..... It is the same for all vehicles and not just Ranger. When carrying out an oil change do not leave the sump plug out draining and the filter off draining for excessive amounts of time. By excessive this would be overnight where the technician drains the oil, clocks off and goes home and comes back the next day and fits the sump plug and oil filter. I am not sure where the 10 minutes came from, but would be good practice to drain the oil and remove the filter on a service and carry out a CITNOW video health check on the vehicle, showing the oil draining and filter removed (as proof has been done) - so for half hour or so is fine and causes no concerns - you would need to insure all the old oil is removed, to drain the oil pump would be a very excessive amount of time draining.
