I sat in one at a local car show. Looked at all the midsize that were there that day. I have to say it was probably the one that felt the roomiest in the driver seat. Mostly because the center console was low and maybe narrower to allow my right leg to tilt out a bit. But I find the Ranger to be a little ugly, or just not as pleasing to MY eye. The prices of all of them, all vehicles, are just out of reality. Add to that today's economy, the real economy, not the one the dems are saying, things are just nuts. And the interest rates are rediculous.

The US economy is the envy of the world. What planet are you living on? I like how the only thing that is "real" is what you think. Not facts. Ask Russia and China which economy they wish they had. @drn13355 I apologize for tripping your trigger. My income goes up with the cost of living. The way the cost of living used to be figured. Not the costs now. I work full time. Picked up a part time gig. Then another part time gig. I now work close to 60 hours a week. I'm referring to what I, I said I, see as the real economy. The one that affects me. The one where my insurance has increased, taxes have increased, utilities have and still are increasing, where food has gone up substantially, everything I touch or need. Clothing, my work boots, gasoline, the list goes on. So maybe the word "economy" was not the correct word to use. I've managed to save a little, but have been dipping into that lately. A little. So for me, must just be me, things are changing, although not rough, but as conservative as I am, I can't be alone in this situation. The Ranger is the quickest midsize pickup, has the most towing capacity @ 7500 lbs and also a good sized interior. The Ranger has been the most popular pickup in Australia, has been sold there and in other countries for over a decade and owners reviews on them are very positive. Also, the keyed ignition means it's a lot harder to steal for your average lowlife gangbanger vs. the lazy Nascar-style push button ignition with an active FOB transmitter on other cars / trucks. No batteries to go bad in the "FOB" either that will prevent the truck from starting. It's old school, just the way it should be. Ever since the stupid push button ignition was introduced, car theft has skyrocketed! People who criticize these don't know why many of these basic features are actually a good thing in the long run. The new Ranger is SIMPLE, built like a truck from the early 2000's and that's a big plus in 2024, where everything else is an iPad on wheels with 10,000 extra failure points. The only downside of the new Ranger is the price.

I even won a few stop light races with it against guys in JPM cars. I got 29 mpg in it on trip from Chicago to Columbus Ohio. The only thing wrong with it was it was too small. I ended going back to half tons. As far as sales go they really didn't get rolling on these till Q2. I know this because I was checking for them every week since January. If they are selling slow its because they were really late to the party, and the Tacoma started showing up right about the same time. Get this: when selected, the 165 CID V-6 EcoBoost means you will have a 4x4 added. I want a 4x2 with a V-6 EcoBoost for lane changing while towing Interstate Highways. I reside in Augusta, Georgia, where it rarely snows. I don't drive on unimproved roads, yet Ford is forcibly adding a 4x4 drive train. Here's the kicker, Chevrolet's website selected from their commercial vehicle section. I can build a Silverado 1500 SCab, 2wd, LWB, 323 CID V-8, and a tow package, including "ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL." This is a WT entry 1/2 ton truck, $42,985.00 US before taxes. Let that sink in for a moment. Additionally, the maximum towing capability is 11,200 pounds.

Perhaps the worse review I’ve seen from a KZbinr. But that’s to be expected from one with so little information on the subject of his video. I have the Ranger and the engine at the low end is more powerful than most of its competitors. The complaint he makes is a “non” complaint, it’s a feature of turbo engines that when you hit the accelerator hard, you burn twice as much gas, but you get the power you need. I get 25 and change in the city, 27 on the highway. The 6 cylinder 2.7 is now out and it has spec’s well in excess of the 4 cylinder turbo-like 400 ft lbs torque. It’s being sold only in the mid level and high level trim. Even with that engine, I’ve not seen a list price over $45K, and there’s not much left to add to the vehicle at that point. More extra’s like tonneau covers might get you to $50k. Simply go to Ford and build your own. You don’t like the price, go to Toyota and see what they’re getting. Yes, the damn things are too high a price for most people. Got it-you don’t like that you can’t afford it. Want a smaller Ford truck, look at the maverick. In any event, that’s the market after giving the assembly workers a 25% raise and a cumulative inflation rate since Biden of at least 20%-and I’m not knocking the workers, they need to eat too.

I agree with all his points on price. I do not agree with his thoughts on power train. I have a 2019 with same 2.3 and 10 speed. It is a fantastic combo, putting torque down low and the 10 speed, once "dialed in" lets the motor stay in a good rpm range. I commute 60 miles a day, have towed my trailer, used it for rough forest service roads...all it was designed to do and it excels. Still, these are over priced, but so are all cars now. I got mine with major discounts which dealers just don't offer anymore. Do I wish we could get a small truck like previous Ranger, or a true SUV like the old Jeep Cherokee..Yes!!!

The STX in shadow black is what I ordered. Pretty pleased overall. 4x4, spray in bed liner and the basic tow package. Right at $37k. After market hard bed cover and some weather tech floor lines to make it even easier to clean. It’s a sub 40k truck. Love the fuel mileage, I drive pretty conservatively averaging over 26mph with just over 9000 miles on it so far. While I would like the 2.7 V6 I’ll be happy with the 2.3 and not stress it too much by expecting more that I should. Sure the Mavericks price appeal is attractive’ however I would miss the higher stature of the Ranger. My sole complaint’ is self inflicted. I should have got the $90 keyless entry for the drivers door. Tinted windows would also be nice. That’ll be for the next truck (chuckle and kick the tire).

The Ranger was not even available in the first 3 months for sell in 2024 because it was delayed by a strike at the plant. The V6 models will be built in August late in the year. The Tacomo is even more pricey than the Ranger. It is by no means underpowered it is faster than all the other midsize trucks watch TFL fastlane trucks they did a drag test on all of them. If you had driven one you would know its not underpower. Ranger tows 7500 pounds compare to the Maverick's 4000 pounds thats allot of difference. I too like the pre 2011 version but that’s the same size as the Maverick. Ranger is almost mid sized so it’s not directly comparable. Why won’t they make it in a single cab with a decent length bed? Ranger sales are down because the Maverick cannibalized the market. Also they are expensive because people go for all that electronic nonsense. Obsessing over a keyed ignition is what is wrong with buyers today. What’s so bad about having to turn a key or glance out the window before you change lanes?

Ford should have skipped this design altogether and went straight to the Maverick instead. But instead of calling it a Maverick (which is a joke from the 70s), they should have called it the new Ranger. Because what the Maverick is now is what the Ranger was thru the 2011 year model.

I have a 2020 and wouldn't call the 2.3 underpowered, especially compared to the competition. It gets the job done and I see 25 mpg. I think the main reason the new ones aren't selling is the price and high interest rates. Sometimes I wonder if some at Ford don't really care about Ranger sales as the F150 is the crown jewel and they want it to stay the best seller. Chevy might be in the same boat and probably won't offer many incentives. I have driven the Colorado and like it. Same for the Frontier, but the interior needs to be updated and hear it will for 2025.
