Always a joy to watch some Class 50s running the rails. They're definitely one of my favourite diesel locos (particularly in large logo livery), just a shame they weren't common in these northern parts. Another great video. Many thanks 👍🏻

Sunday morning with Dean Park, a lovely way to start your day. Excellent up date, some great details there Dave. Your S&T Training centre is spot on with the type of buildings but I don't think you will be able to convey how you froze in the winter and boiled to death in the summer. LOL. Great to see some chuffers running and pulling decent size rakes. All Best.

Nice update and nice to see the A4s stretching their legs - though the Silver Fox with no carriages looked a little odd! The TMD and surrounding areas cover a good part of the layout and I hope no one would expect you to rush through it. Hi Dave Great and informative update as always! Re Trackplans.... I did mine as an a2 poster by taking screen shots from railmaster and then joining up together electronically in photoshop to create an outline. Then used that low resolution version as a template to redraw electronically in a graphics programme to make it look professional and sufficient resolution. Once recreated it can be saved into any format to either print, download or even put into a video. If your would like any help doing yours please let me know. Cheers Rob

The training school is looking good. The smaller building looks ideal for a practical training room where students learn the complexities of interlocking systems and how to fault find on them. whilst outside they learn about the other parts of the signalling system. Like the idea of floodlighting. Now I had better get back to Dean Park for a fast inter-city to Everard Junction where I hear there is another great layout being built Thanks for the link there Dave
@DeanPark6 жыл бұрын
Well come back soon lol
@cedarcam6 жыл бұрын
LOL No worries Dave I will be on my travels again soon. Only thing going there at the moment is the replacement bus service for the last part. No track yet. Seriously though This looks like being a great layout just as yours is.
@DeanPark6 жыл бұрын
Maybe it will be, but it wont capture the Scottish feel...which is good as it will be set in the south east!!
@cedarcam6 жыл бұрын
That's what drew me to your layout as mine is based on workings in the same area. I am now building a Highlands single line in my other room where mostly class 26 and 37 locos will run. Meantime the main layout has just about everything that ran in the blue grey era in the Edinburgh / Glasgow area.
@DeanPark6 жыл бұрын
Great. I was tempted to do Highland area, but the draw of Scotrail 47/7's on push pull into Waverley styled tunnels was too much of a temptation lol.

How did you make the bits of the speed signs, specifically the circular disks from the styrene sheets? Looking to make my own road signs and think your technique could be helpful.
@DeanPark6 жыл бұрын
I laser cut these on a friends laser cutter. I then cut out the signs very carefully and spray glued them in place.

Never fail to be impressed by your skill and patience Dave but still can't understand why the, obviously, main road over the level crossing goes nowhere!!
@DeanPark7 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks. On the crossing....I know what you are saying, but what else am I to do?....I cant put a tunnel or bridge, it would look stupid....I am not putting a hole into the backboard and I am unable to craft a scene there. Its a small annoyance, but we have to remember....its a model layout lol. I didnt design the backscenes so I'm lucky the crossing wasnt 10 inches to the left or the road would have gone straight into a row of houses. Cheers. Dave
@williamwatson31457 жыл бұрын
Dave may be a stupid question but may I ask where you obtained the gantry with isolators/electrical equipment that you are putting next to the Bachmann building in your last update, where you are doing the training buildings. Bill.
@DeanPark7 жыл бұрын
Hi, where am I doing the training buildings?...sorry I am not sure what you mean. The gantry is part of a Walthers HO Substation kit. The kit builds a large substation structure, but I have kit bashed it to get the parts I want. Cheers. Dave

Just a quick question for you. When you made the original base board, what ply did you use abd the thickness. Also what did you use for brasing across the truses. Is it 2x4? Its an amazing layout and ill be making my loft layout with the same baseboard idea to make the most of my space
@DeanPark6 жыл бұрын
hi, i used 12mm 'wisa' ply from Jewsons merchants. Its stable and good quality. The braces were 90mm wide and 20mm thick. Dressed pine was used here. Hope that helps?

Hi Dave, Can I ask what video editing software you use as I'd like to get into share the creation of my n gauge layout. It is early days and looking into things. Cheers, Rich.
@cyberdonblue44137 жыл бұрын
Those speed signs are for the modern era. In the era you are modelling, BR used the yellow cut out speed signs. Those red and white "idiot boards" only came in with privatisation so that the "boil in the bag" drivers that the private companies wanted to use could find their way round easier.
@cedarcam6 жыл бұрын
The first reflectorized signs were used in Scotland in around 1985. These were introduced on the rest of the system in the following years so there were some in use before privatisation. Dean park could well be one of the areas they were used in

The usual high quality video & attention to detail I come to expect. Great work and a very enjoyable watch. Having worked in many substations a key feature is lots of cable trough, some of which is cut flush into the concrete slab with just the lids visible. You may like this link as food for thought: www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/3884-sr-sub-stations/ Also loving the S&T training area. Again, very realistic. And again, you may find possible use of this picture (although you seem to be doing just fine as it is!): www.networkrailmediacentre.co.uk/news/major-milestone-for-the-south-west-trains-and-network-rail-alliance-as-multi-million-pound-joint-training-and-development-centre-officially-opens Keep up the great work.
