Hi Dave; I must tell you that living in the USA as I do, your channel has brought the railways of 1980's Scotland to life for me. I have followed your channel (with little comment but great interest) for some while now and I am impressed with the artistry and attention to detail you give to your layout. Obviously you have a deep passion for the hobby. Between your"Dean Park Station" layout and Richards "Everard Junction" layout I feel like I've been to the UK and traveled the rails of your homeland. You have my respect and gratitude. Thanks!

Hi, thanks so much for that comment. I am really glad its given you a taste of 80's Scotland! I have a deep passion indeed, almost an obsession to get it better and better. Really humbled that you like it and thanks for your comment and support. Dave

Top Class Dave! I have said it before, your attention to detail and your modelling skills are an inspiration to those of us just at the start of our railway modelling journey. I have really enjoyed this series to see how you go about planning a scene and then seeing that idea come to fruition. Its given me a better understanding of how to think about scenes for my own layout. Looking forward to the next video.

Hi, glad you have got some ideas for your own layout. Planning and thinking it through really does help. Things need to be done in a certain order to get it right, I love planning then building! lol

I think the level of detail you put in to all your scenes is incredible. Just picking out the water signs and covers is something I would not have considered but definitely food for thought and adds a level of realism and depth. It is almost as if the railway is a second thought as the detail now is what brings it to life. Already looking forward to your next video. Cheers, Rich.

Training center looks awesome it looks amazing your layout is fantastic the design and detail brilliant
@cedarcam6 жыл бұрын
The finished training centre looks excellent. Perhaps a little detail inside the buildings one day seeing as there are lights inside but apart from that you really captured the look of the real thing. A cable drum of that size is indeed very heavy, so they are usually stored upright for ease. It is the small details you add that really make everything so realistic. The cables going to the connectors on the point machine and speed signs around the layout. Great.
@Castlebridge-006 жыл бұрын
The Signals & telecommunication site is extremely good. It has put the size of a point in true context. They are big chunkey things in real life and you have captured that very well on your model. Barry.Devon.

The new parts came out really nice Dave... well done. I particularly like the S&T school... all it needs now is an interior for the classroom[s] and offices. One small suggestion... the fencing for the road. Why not put in a black/steel arc line where the gates swing open... where people have left the bottom bolt drooping down and it's gouged a slight groove in the tarmac? Perhaps drilling a small hole in the tarmac where the gates meet where the bolt will slot into to secure them shut.

Hi Dave, your training-centre looks the par, excellent work! I love the level of detail!!! Your layout is an inspiration for me. I'm looking forward to see it again once you have done the interior work ;). In my honest opinion your choice of a warm LED light was not necessary, as these kind of buildings typically where lit using cold fluorescent lighting. Keep up the good work, and looking forward to your next video. Best regards, Edwin
@DeanPark6 жыл бұрын
Hi Thanks. I looked at a few early photos of florescent lights / office lighting (sad, I know, but I like to do my research lol) and the best match was the yellowy one....the cold white LED was just too clean a white.

Warley is a great event, from experience is that you do need two days, usually do the one day but the past two events I have done it on both days because one day is not enough if you want to see as much layouts as you can and also Sunday is a little quieter than Saturday bu still busy, Saturday is more busier.

Very impressive, informative video. I will be at Warley this year, having missed it for a number of years, always been in the States. Will be returning earlier this year to take in the show. If you are looking for another Class 37, MMRG, have commissioned Bachmann, to produce 37114, “Dunrobin Castle” and will be available this year. I placed my order back in December

David, You obviously pay attention to all that surrounds you.. your detail is fabulous and I like the way you explain everything and tell us how they are achieved and the make etc., to encourage us. Do you ever have derailments ????? Your track seems well laid.
@DeanPark5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the great comments. I don't tend to have derailments no....I thoroughly test the track before fixing it down and ballasting. Of course I don't run my trains at 100% top speed all the time so its easier to avoid locos flying of the track lol.
@cedarcam6 жыл бұрын
Dave I just checked up on the speed sign at the junction for you. Where you have placed them one above the other they should be side by side The 25 with the arrow above on the left and the 40 to the right of it. :)
@DeanPark6 жыл бұрын
oh too late, glue in! lol I took this example from one I saw near Edinburgh....not totally copied, but there were two, one above the other.
@cedarcam6 жыл бұрын
OK Well I was not sure until I looked it up. One above the other are the differential ones for different types of train. What you can do is add a 40 on the right of the double sign, so you have passenger can go up to 40 and freight 25 on the branch and all trains 40 on the main.
@DeanPark6 жыл бұрын
that's an idea. cheers.

As always Dave the attention to detail is fantastic, whats the next big project area ?
@DeanPark6 жыл бұрын
Hi, the embankment area at the end of the layout (opposite the curved retaining wall) and then the building site in the corner. I am nearing the painting stage for the retaining walls I made (see previous updates) that will fit opposite the S&T area in the cut open section. After that, its planning the TMD buildings and sheds (may replace one of the loco sheds with a modern scratch built one). But I fully expect that by the end of the modelling 'season' (May/June) that I will have the embankment done, retaining walls fitted etc and the building site under way. That leaves me Autumn/Winter 2018/19 to really kick on with the scenic at the TMD.....which I want to do right, so will take time to plan and build. Cheers. Dave

A fantastic update. Been following your progress for over a year now, loving your attention to the fine details, even point motor heaters. Amazing. I have a question if that’s ok? Your speed signs, what diameter are they? I would eventually like to do the same on my layout, and I will probably do as you have and make my own. Don’t see the point in paying out good money for something I can make just as well. Loved the class 47 video the other day, isn’t it amazing the duties they performed and the large number of liveries they carried. Probably one one the great diesels along with the 37 and 08 all still in service today. Not forgetting the mighty HSTs of course. From what I read many are coming in your direction when the class 800 takes over fully on GWR. THANKS Dave...
@cedarcam6 жыл бұрын
The Ten Commandments signs are very good and look to scale. The real signs are 900mm across. The red boarder is 40mm deep and lettering 370mm high on the centre line therefore leaving 225mm of white above and below the lettering. Dividing by 76 will give the scale dimensions in 00 scale

Love it mate. Detailing defo makes a layout. Do you use anything to set your static grass in position. E.G. hairspray or just leave it natural ?

Great update mate layout looks really good Would a building be placed on a bridge over a railway I have never seen that sort of thing happen
@DeanPark6 жыл бұрын
It can happen, but its a bit of artistic modelling licence as its only a model train layout ;-) The clasp buildings were not heavy structures and only being single storey they would have more than likely been certified as within loading tolerances for the girders underneath.
