Sometimes there is just this one missing bit of information that you need and you don't want to go through a whole tedious tutorial to find it but in this case it was a joy watching the tut from start to finish. Love your _style_ and going to be back on your channel for more tips!

Maybe a project about dyslexia might maybe allow for a comic sans font? Apparently, it's one of the easiest to read for people with dyslexia. Forgot where I got that from.

This was driving me crazy! I was setting up Paragraph Styles for my document, but whenever I applied them it would switch the font size to 14pt instead of 11pt like how the style was set up. I deleted and re-deleted the styles and nothing was working, and then I found out I had set up a Character Style and that was overriding the Paragraph Style at some point, once I deleted that it started working normally.
@DaveConrey

GummyTumor yeah, whenever I get type that’s not acting the way it should, I go directly to the character styles palette.

When I quit indesign and reopen the next time all of my paragraph styles (as well as color swatches I've chosen to save) disappear! How do I get them to save?
@DaveConrey
@DaveConrey 4 жыл бұрын
Ok, so the paragraph styles follow the document, and a new document will need new styles. You can get the styles back by importing them from a previous document. You could also set up a page template that has all the paragraph styles in it and every time you start a new document based on that template, the styles will be there

I don't have any of the paragraph options you have.
@DaveConrey
@DaveConrey 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure how that’s possible. Are you using the most recent version of CC?
@CMRCustom
@CMRCustom 4 жыл бұрын
Dave Conrey never mind. I had to select the option in the window menu. Thanks for getting back to me. Right now I’m trying to figure out how to justify text in a numbered list so the wrap around text doesn’t flow all the way back to the left margin. Instead I want the text to continue under the start of the first sentence.
@DaveConrey
@DaveConrey 4 жыл бұрын
So that would be done with tab management and/or “first line” adjustment in the paragraph settings. Between the number/bullet and the first word, instead of a space, put a tab. Then select that whole bullet, hit command/CTRL+T to bring up tab management. On the ruler line shown, set your tab Mark with one of the left justified arrows. Then drag the indent marker out to that tab point, but move the top portion of indent marker (first line indent) Back to its original location. This should allow the bullet point to start at the normal position, and then the tabs starts where you marked it, and the second line should line it’s self up with the tab. I know that’s really difficult to picture, and if I still had in design, I would do a quick tutorial on that, but maybe if I create one in affinity publisher instead, that might help you. The only problem there is that I don’t know if those operations are the same in affinity publisher, but I will look into it.
@CMRCustom
@CMRCustom 4 жыл бұрын
Dave Conrey thanks for taking the time to explain all of that for me. It’s exactly what I needed. Now I’m curious about affinity...

Sorry to have disappointed you, because god forbid someone actually be reasonably entertaining. I mean, I guess I could be like these foreign KZbinrs, getting direct to the point, speaking in a dull, monotone voice that's barely distinguishable, but that's not nearly as much fun. If you didn't get the value of the video, then I didn't make it for you.
