I just watched y'all go down your Clipping journey from the first video. Y'all just get it. All three of them are true artists. Really enjoyed watching. Thanks!

One of the craziest things about this track is that clipping do not use sample libraries - they create all their sounds themselves, unless they use a specific sample from like a movie or something as a reference to something in the lyrics. That includes the gunshots in this video. Yes, Hutson and Snipes drove into the California desert with a trunk full of field recording microphones and guns and recorded every bang, click and reload sound themselves.

You guys need to watch the movie him and Rafael Casal wrote and stared in called "Blindspotting". As someone who is born and raised in the bay area it is done perfectly to show the bull shit that Oakland and rest the bay having to deal with.

Ah, finally a new clipping. reaction by you guys. Been waiting :) I guess they are not so popular with the masses because they are, in some songs, capable of unleashing absolute noise (i.e. Make em dead) and that´s not for everyone´s ears. You guys should have a once a month clipping segment! You won´t regret, promised :) Oh and, all the gunshots and other gun related noises in Shooter were recorded by the guys on a shooting range.

2 months ago sp*tify of all fucking things let me know that Clipping had a show in a small little place 750-900 being generous. It was fucking rad and all that I wanted it to be. He can spit ALL those bars with no break for breathing. I guess all that theater work trained him well. Clipping also spun up to make things more intense with songs like 'Body & Blood' and 'Face' where- of course, a pit opened up, even in that small venue

I'll watch anything with Daveed in it. Except maybe the live action Little Mermaid movie.

Story 7 is a good one, you guys need to go through storyline if the full thing ever drops! (we only have 1,2,5,7 relesed at the moment)

Story 4 is out too, just not officially released on Spotify since it's an alt-J remix. It's on alt-J's SoundCloud though.

As for "why isn't clipping huge?", the answer pretty much lies in what record label they chose to sign with. Sub Pop is a *hugely* respected name in independent music circles, among people who consider themselves first and foremost lovers of great music rather than any specific genre. They built the Seattle grunge sound in the late 80s and have released some of the greatest indie rock albums ever made. They don't sign many hip hop acts and aren't really a part of that side of the music business. I think Shabazz Palaces(another massively underrated act) is the only other hip hop act on Sub Pop. Sub Pop is cool with just letting them do whathever they want, whenever they want and releasing it, rather than trying to take over their lives with demands for their time, or trying to change their sound. This means clipping isn't really all that plugged in to the rest of the hip hop world except the artistic fringe of it, and all of the members have other careers - Daveed in theater, film and television, Snipes does scoring and sound design for film and television, and Hutson has a freaking PhD in Theater Studies. They fit bouts of recording and gigging as clipping around the rest of their working lives rather than the other way around. Clipping started as a side project where they could hang out and make weird music together while in and around UCLA, but none of them are "all in" on this project as a way to climb to the top of the rap mountain.

Also, Clipping is pretty big in Europe. Most of their recent shows have been across the pond. Might explain why you haven't heard as much about them. It's hard as hell to catch them live if you ain't prepared for them to pop up lol. I'm still working on it but not expecting anything soon since Daveed just had a baby.

Not necessarily react to it but if you guys have never seen Daveed’s movie blind spotting you should watch it but definitely look at the rap part at the end 👍

I love Shooter, I might change this to my ringtone instead of Get Up even though it doesn't have the alarm clock as the beat. With the video, it really makes you think though. I second the recommendation to watch Blindspotting, it fits this theme so well.
