So lucky you have these. Most families don't. I wish my family recorded home movies back in the day.

How did you get color film stock in the 40s?

It was my dad who got the color film. It must have been available. Gone With The Wind and The Wizard of Oz were both a n color and made in 1939.

@@DaveHerring524 thats true. there were color films in the 30s but they were made with a special camera that was very large and ran 3 strips of film called technicolor. It would have been very impractical to shoot home movies with and very unlikely your dad got his hands on one of them. single strip color film wasnt produced or used for movies until the early 50s. But i did read that germans were making single strip color films as early as 41 and some americans got their hands on some of it after the war.

Kodachrome color 16mm was available in the 1940's it was introduced in 1935.
