Not sure why I wept while watching this for at least the 100th time. Something struck a chord. Maybe DJM’s look at Carter when the Lovely Ladies are singing? Maybe it’s Stefan looking at the crowd to see if people recognized the tune? Maybe the way Butch was spot on in his fill’s? Perhaps because these guys, who I’ve followed religiously since 1991, still continue to amaze me with the art they create. I don’t know why.

Something I've always loved when they do covers is that they try to put their own spin into the song and make it sound different and fresh instead of doing a direct copy of the cover song. They did it with this song and with Watchtower and made both of these song sound different yet amazing at the same time.

Definitely! for me it's in that category of truly polarizing Americana tunes and I'm aware it's more in the vein of singer-songwriter folk but it definitely have that quality of crossing over into traditional American music

This is objectively the best version of this Danny Dill / Marijohn Wilkin tune written for Lefty Frizzell... hands down.
