Congratulations on the renewed sponsorship with Marin-they're one of the best in the biz. And yes PLEASE focus on CHEAPER bikes.

I think the new idea is fantastic. Most of the more expensive bikes are out of a lot of people's range, so building up and testing out some of the cheaper bikes would give far more people a good idea of what they can do with a smaller budget. Too many channels focus on top tier equipment & while that's nice seeing all the exotic stuff, I honestly think that ends up putting people off the sport. It'll be interesting to see what you do. And lastly, congratulations on the renewed sponsorship, it's great to see them support you.

Congrats on the renewed sponsorship, I like the idea of you reviewing the entry level bikes from Marin. I’m not sure how much content can be generated from that but it’s worth a try. What I will say is this…. I came here for the bikes and stayed for the conversation. Hope that makes sense.

I'm happy you are still at it on this channel and that Marin has again chosen you as one of the ambassadors for the brand. I plan to get back on my Headlands in '25 and am definitely looking forward to the content. Thank you!

“I wanted to get dirty today” yeah same happened to me today. 20 mile road ride but on the lanes next to the Severn, so muddy and flooded. At the end I looked down at my brand new winter bib tights and my Mums voice popped up in my head “those were clean on and now look at the state of them!”😂 Congrats on the continued sponsorship Dave and yes, cheaper bikes would be good. I’ve neither the budget or the legs to merit the top end stuff.

Big props to Marin for supporting, by far, the BEST bicycle channel on the Tube!!! I think your 2025 plan is brilliant Dave!!! Get a entry MB and a entry gravel bike!!! Seriously lacking cat footage though.

My suggestions to try are the Nicasio (steel dropbar), Muirwoods (steel flatbar), and Team Marin 2.

After watching your video on the Heybike EC-1 quite a few more showed up in my feed and after looking at them I decided to order one. I've been thinking about it for a while although I can still ride at an average of around 25Km/h. I'm not getting any younger (73 next Feb.) I've been looking at e-bikes for a while but couldn't find one I liked until finding this one. It still doesn't have all what I was looking for but near enough. I also got it with the Black Friday deal for 999€.

Love the idea of starting with the entry level. I'm short! So to get a Marin full sus XS, I had to get the entry level Hawk Hill. It's had a dropper, upgraded fork, wheels, and mulleted. Oh and I think we upgraded the shifters?
@DaveNoakes2 ай бұрын
It’s really hard finding bikes if you’re small. Did you change the wheels? My daughter has a hawk hill and I think they are the first thing I’m going to change.

Congratulations on the renewed sponsorship, mate. I love the idea of trying out the cheaper Marin stuff, as I reckon that might really help people see you don't have to spend a fortune on owning a Marin. Maybe you can do a series of bike builds with different priced frames and group sets, seeing if any particular setup feels better than another. 👌
@DaveNoakesАй бұрын
Thank you. Sounds like a great idea.

Great idea. The top end bikes are nice, but the not so flash, the not quite as sexy frames work just as well, look just as good and have other advantages that are often not promoted. These are more affordable, and make a lot more sense for people getting into cycling. Would love to see reviews of the cheaper stuff.
@bbanga55422 ай бұрын
Dave, I like your idea of testing out the lower priced Marin bikes. I would also be interested in hearing what you think of these with the cheaper groupsets, like Microshift and mechanical disk brakes. Since watching your channel I have been contemplating a Headlands, but I don’t think I would go for an option with the cheaper components, unless you were to convince me otherwise.

i think you will find the components on the entry level or cheaper bikes frustrating. Ive ridden a load of different Trek bikes as a store ambassador in the last few years and have steadily moved up the price points because I get a shitload more fun and satisfaction riding the better bikes. They also require less maintenance and are more reliable. You dont have to go top end, just go to the middle where you get good kit.
@DaveNoakesАй бұрын
I’m definitely interested to see the difference, I’ve ridden quite a range of bikes over the years I do agree with you, the durability and build quality of the really low end stuff just won’t hold up to daily abuse. It’s definitely about the middle ground.
