Perfect example of how important gun management is especially on pressured gobblers. Dave had his gun up and shouldered when the turkey took a peek over the log. If he had not been ready, that bird would have took one look, ducked back down and turned around and walked off with the log blocking him. Also great example of soft calling and how effective it is on pressured turkeys ! All beginners should watch this 3 times !! Good job Dave !

Does a turkey ever come to where you think he will come ? Some of the most excellent footage for a small camera and being self filmed. Keep up the good work. Your owl hoots 10+. I would say that your secret is time spent in the woods. The viewing public sees 30 mins on average. I venture to say that during the season you spend 70% to 80% of the day in the woods without it not being near this exciting. Till the next "Gobble" from ALabama.

I like that you are going after the quality of the hunt, not the quantity....beautiful location and huge old bird, love those spurs, think you should hunt more of the tough birds...I never before put it together that the toms go up after loosing there hens, same thing happens here.....if it is not awesome and cool, special, what is the point...if you ever consider coming to Washington State and pursuing the Washington Slam, maybe you have already done it?....anyways, know where there are all three species, rain forest Eastern, wide open flatland river bottom Rio's and some mountain Merriam's that are really special...

Iv turkey hunted for 40yrs and as aggressive hunters we too many times get in a hurry and try to force birds to us. Dave, question. I am not an expert turkey hunter by any means but finally after 12 years of trial and error got my first turkey. but in college I had a friend come with me who was very good. He always told me “turkeys are lazy as crap” and I’ve had turkeys hang up on me with obstacles in the way. With this dead tree in the way, what’s your suggestion for getting them to cross or almost cross that obstacle? Thanks for the great videos and content.
@pinhotiproject Жыл бұрын
It's best practice to have the gobbler need to come through/ around as little as possible. But the main factor, is being where he wants to be.
@connorscott1801 Жыл бұрын
@@pinhotiproject thank you for the response! I will keep this in mind as not everything works out to order like we all plan for. I had one hang up on me before I successfully got one. He came over a clear cut ridge and I was down in a bottom. What I could not see was in the swell was a dead tree that was down but was hidden for all the thick grass in front of the hardwood ridge, and he stopped right there when he could see in the bottom Of the hardwoods and saw no hen. That made me get up on the ridge he came down two days later and I got him/one of the gobblers two days later by cutting them off.

Thank you for not even saying what state you’re in so far this year on public. You’re one of the few hunting subs I have left. I can’t stand to watch most of these people ruining everything for locals bc of the idiots chasing pins and geolocating videos.
@pinhotiproject Жыл бұрын
I may mention state names because I feel it's general enough information and I travel to typically a dozen or more per Spring. I have also shown hunts from well over 30 here on the channel. I do take great care and caution to avoid highlighting anyone's location though. Way too much respect for locals to ever put a spotlight on a specific area.
