a delight to observe. it is not just your proportions but your short line segments produce a basic drawing that can stand on its own with just a few touches of white for the highlights.

Hi sir Dave, im your consistent viewer fr Philippines!Im so thankful for these videos for free. Im just a bit hesitant on where to use the blue color for the face i dont know how to distuinguish. Thanks and God bless you.

Thanks for watching my videos... much appreciated. When using blue.. I would suggest sensing the colour, is it slightly purple, colder feel to the pink flesh tint. I only lightly mix the blue in. Just take a leap of faith and preserver. All the very best 🙏

Dave, your art and narrative are amazing and so beautiful to watch and listen to ❤ thanks so much for sharing it with the world!!! Just curious what type of monitor you use to prop your reference and if your patreon tutorials are real time.

Hi Maite, thank you for the reassuring feedback, for a change I have edited the footage without music in the background, thrilled it has come across that well. You are very well, my pleasure... I use a Usus monitor... the colours are really true. All my recent videos on Patreon are in full real-time audio and video, the the older ones are a mix of narrated and full real-time. All the very best 🙏

It’s amazing how even the under drawing looks like the photo even though you say you’re not trying to make it the right colours. Is this technique only helpful for pastel pencils, or could you use it with other pencils?
@DavePortersArt7 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind words Anna, I have tried it with coloured pencils it works but I do like the looseness of pastels. All the best thanks for watching. 🙏

What size do you like to work in for your pastel portraits? I noticed you work small for examples, but what size do you tend to make your final portraits? Thank you for your videos. I’m watching them all and find them so helpful.
@DavePortersArt14 күн бұрын
Hi Donna, I like 15 x 12" sizes for head and shoulders for pastels. For Oils usually 15x12" 18x14" 20x16" and 20x24" Depends if they are head and shoulders, three quarters or full length. Thank you for watching my videos... much appreciated 😊🙏

@@DavePortersArt Thanks for the reply. I know Pastelmat is your go to paper. I only have a small amount of it but a lot of Uart. Any thoughts on if your technique could work on Uart? No money to buy more supplies. Your instructions are so helpful. Much appreciated.

You find very nice pictures to draw. Your technique is good, you draw realistic pictures with few pencils. I will change my pencils with pastes, but for portraits I think I should take the shades of the carandache series.
@DavePortersArt7 ай бұрын
Thank you! I use Caran d' Ache pencils in the next stages... I always like to use the chalky pastels first for the under drawing. 🙏

Hi. Thanks for the tutorial. I was wondering, if you do overload the tooth of the paper, can you correct it?
@DavePortersArt7 ай бұрын
You are welcome... if you do overload the tooth, best to dab with a Faber Castell Kneadable eraser... this will lift the pigment off for sure. Thanks for watching 🙏

Have you used white color from stabilo no. 100 or color no. 681?
@DavePortersArt6 ай бұрын
Hello Konrad, it is white no. 100... It is strange how the pencil itself not the lead, colour changes from pure white to pink. Bad paint they use on this pencil. 🙏
