You nailed that uber chunky tone! Your one of the few that have done this very important part of this song. Thank You.

Thanks for the video, really enjoyed it and it just helped me to play the riff of one of my favourite songs. Cant wait to show off at our next family gathering.

It is actually a Tom Cochrane song as he wrote it and performed it well before anyone had ever heard of Rascal Flatts
@DavePriceGuitarist7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, some one else here pointed it out. I had no idea. The first time I heard it was while watching the film Cars with my kids. Good tune!
@thetravelingrailroadist6 жыл бұрын
2728muzikmann while that is true that Tom Cochran wrote the song and made it big to his fans and people familiar with his music in Canada, it was the Rascal Flatts version in the cars movie that made the song what it is today.

It was a huge hit in the 80's, and it's kind of funny to see all these "Rascal Flatts" videos
@knight2000-NC5 жыл бұрын
@@HiredGoonage going to have to disagree with it being a hit in th 80s considering Tom Cochrane released it in 1991-- the radio killed this song and I remember it being used in a Baywatch episode where Matt & Summer went bike riding on a beach trail that also gave it some fame.. that video is here on youtube as well.

@@thetravelingrailroadist Sorry Seth, this was way popular when Tom Cochran released it on It's a Mad Mad World in 1991. It was on the radio all the time, all day (night) long ...

hiii dave great lesson .... sounds a little like a song from red rider from way back ?? is that possible ??
@RDPettifer8 жыл бұрын
yup. tom cochrane wrote and recorded the song in 1992. rascal flatts did a cover of the song for the movie "cars" in 2006...NOT as good as the original imo

I have a question. I'm new to guitars, and in the actual song at the time stamp 3:14, you can hear him in the background doing a quick riff of notes... it kind of sounds like alternating notes. is there an actual term for that?
@TheExxl5 жыл бұрын
What are the chords to that high single note ?
@DavePriceGuitarist5 жыл бұрын
Just a high F5 chord - Notes are F & C - 13th fret on strings 1 & 2.

Where is the rest of the song?
@paulseff21094 жыл бұрын
who the hell is rascal flatts? unless Lester Flatts taught him to pick, should I even care? This song was a big hit in the early 90s, Tom Cochrane's song off his solo album after the demise of his band Red Rider (they had a song "lunatic fringe" that was a hit too).
@DavePriceGuitarist4 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I only heard this version after taking the kids to see the film Cars. It was only after I posted this video I learnt their's was a cover and Tom Cochran was the original artist.
@paulseff21094 жыл бұрын
@@DavePriceGuitarist S'ok, I'm sure Tom is very happy with the publishing royalties he's getting & I got to give Lester a shout out. :)
